Small-town life at it’s best! If you haven’t visited Cottonbloom yet, what are you waiting for? With each visit, the Abbott brothers draw me in deeper and deeper to their family life. I love these guys. They have a lot of history holding them back from realizing their true potential, but with each woman that comes into their lives, they find a little more happiness until bit by bit they are healing and becoming even better men than they already were. Such a great series! I’m really enjoying the characters, the storylines and the hope of happily ever after for them all!

Willa Brown never meant to call Cottonbloom home when she stopped in two years ago, but she found work as a mechanic with the Abbott brothers, and found a place she fit in better than she ever has in her life. Dr. Stacey Bloom is as smart as they come, but it doesn’t help her deal with her neurotic mother one bit. She has a husband she loves dearly, and a baby on the way very quickly, but she can’t seem to find comfort in her pending motherhood. The fact of the matter is, it terrifies her … and so does telling her mother that she’s pregnant! She knows she’s going to disapprove of her way of doing each and every thing … not to mention the fact that she’s going to continue to work while her husband stays home with the baby … so she’s shoving her head under the sand and pretending it’s not happening!

We’re intrigued by Tag and Ally from the moment we start getting to know their back stories, and once they come together and sparks fly, it’s easy to fall into their undeniable attraction. Fast paced and action packed, we get follow them on their journey of realization and happily ever afters. Really good story!

Former Army medic Ally Mowak knows that her alternative medicine beliefs that she learned working at her healer grandfather’s side for years aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but she’s hoping that her knew job at the hospital in Rankins, Alaska will allow her to blend her medical knowledge with some natural healing as well to build a solid foundation for the town. Her first meeting with the medical transport pilot she’ll be working with doesn’t go as planned though, so she’s not sure what to think of him and his stickler ways!

Tag James is an easy going guy, but when he picks up Ally during an emergency flight recovery, he’s not sure what to make of her healer ways. With his political career looming closer than he ever thought, he has to make sure he’s living a strictly kosher lifestyle in the eyes of the town, but Ally seems like kind of a dare devil … and he has to admit, he kind of likes it!

Fast paced and action packed! A mystery is solved amidst mounting drama and danger! If you’ve been following along with the Blue River Ranch series, you’ll recognize several of the key players from the underlying crime that’s been carrying forward in each book. With this one, we finally get some justice and some answers to it all. The action of this particular story starts off early in the book and the intrigue carries forward throughout. I liked the characters and the premise of the plot, but did feel there were a few holes left unfilled. Overall a solid mystery and an entertaining read.

Two years ago, the woman Texas Ranger Jameson Beckett was having an affair with disappeared without a trace after betraying him. He searched for her for months, but she simply vanished into thin air and was presumed dead. Getting a call to an active crime scene in no way prepares Jameson to see Kelly again, injured, scared, not remembering even her own name … and carrying a note demanding she kill him.

Private Investigator Kelly Stockwell can’t tell Jameson why she left or where she’s been because she simply doesn’t remember, but news of her being found brings people scurrying to the police station from all sides with their own version of stories to tell. Kelly starts to have a small snippet of a memory here and there, but she truly has no clue to most of the things these people are saying, and when the most shocking piece of news yet comes to light, she’s not sure Jameson will ever be able to forgive her for keeping their daughter from him!

Enchantingly raw! A story of mix-matched lifestyles being forced to mesh together when matters of the heart become involved. If you read the earlier books in Raine’s Doms of her Life series, you’ll recognize Beck and Seth as good friends of Macen, Raine and Liam. They both played pivotal parts in that earlier story line and you’ll already understand their lifestyle greatly from reading those. If you didn’t, you’ll still be able to pick up what’s going on without much trouble, but I don’t think I’d have enjoyed the nuance of having them compete over a woman as much if I hadn’t met them earlier. The main characters catch our attention quickly and the story line is laid out well to keep us entertained. There are parts where it drags a bit, and my least favorite part of the book was the fact that it goes back and forth in time. I really would have enjoyed it more if it has just gone chronologically along instead of flipping back and forth. There are also some plot holes from the past that are left blank, but I’m assuming those are going to become known to us in the future books. Overall, I really enjoyed the players in this story and was invested until the end in seeing a happy ending. Looking forward to more to come!

“Sweaty?” She shuddered. “That sounds unpleasant. It was nice. I…tingled.”
“Tingled?” He scowled. “Did your pussy fall asleep because he couldn’t find your clit? Maybe you should have given him a map.”
She nearly choked on her wine. “I found the experience perfectly satisfying.”
“Sweetheart, you don’t know squat about satisfaction.” Raine’s brother leaned in and peered at her, eye to eye. “Here’s what I think happened: You haven’t so much as flirted with another man. You don’t understand why ‘lovely’ sex is bad because you’ve never had it. In fact, not only did you not have sex with this mysterious ‘stud,’ you haven’t offered the virginity you asked me to take to anyone else.”
“What. The fuck. Did you say?” Beck growled suddenly.
Heavenly glanced over her shoulder. Both Beck and Seth glared from across the kitchen. Oh, no.
“Get out,” Seth snapped at River, hauling ass across the room. “Now. While you can still walk.”
Dread burned her veins. She didn’t have to wonder how much they’d overheard. Obviously, it had been more than enough. Tonight had just gone from mortifying to catastrophic.
River backed away, hands raised. “Hey, just so you know, I turned her down because I like my balls where they are.”
“That’s the only reason you’re getting to keep them,” Beck insisted. “Seth told you to get the fuck out.”
“I’m leaving,” River assured, then glanced her way. “Good luck.”
Once he’d gone, silence descended. She was alone with the two men who had been tempting, confusing, and consuming her for months. They were going to demand answers.
This wouldn’t end well.
Heavenly drew in a shaky breath, startled to find both now inches away, arms crossed over their chests. Aggression rolled off them, filling the tense air. Beck drilled holes through her with narrowed eyes, set off by a scathing slash of his mouth. Seth’s seething stare was no less displeased. Unfortunately, she had nothing to offer the savage beasts except a smile full of trembling bravado.

They walked down the hall to the sunroom and went out that way through sliding glass doors to a trim lawn and garden bursting with summer flowers. It was hot, but they edged onto a shaded, paved walkway, suitable for canes, walkers and wheelchairs. Gabe noticed his grandfather moved well, if more slowly than just a year ago. “How was California?” he asked.

“Sunny,” Gabe said with a grin.

“You moving out there?”

“I toyed with the idea of relocating there.”

They passed through pine-scented shade. “You could move me out with you. Sun shines all the time. I don’t mind assisted living, but I knew every old lady in this place when we were kids. One more reminds me I wet my pants in first grade and I’m packing up and living in my car.”

Gabe grinned at the old man. “Mark says you have a crush on Daisy Farrell.”

“Wouldn’t do me any good if I did. Daisy was and always will be Tom Farrell’s gal.”

Gabe remembered Tom Farrell, a longtime Knights Bridge fire chief who’d died a couple of years ago. “At least you have friends here.”

“A few old cranks, too, but not many. I’m not as hard on people as I was as a younger man. Getting old isn’t for the faint-hearted, that’s for sure. Thought I’d be in an urn by now.”

Gabe wasn’t surprised by his grandfather’s blunt manner, but he hadn’t had a dose of it in a while. “Instead you’re here talking to me. Imagine that.”

“Yeah. My hotshot grandson.” He slowed his pace, then paused by a patch of daisies. “You’re going to be an uncle. That change things for you?”

“It’s a factor.”

His grandfather peered at him. “A factor? It’s not like you’re buying a used car and its mileage is a ‘factor.’”

“Well, it would be,” Gabe said lightly. “I didn’t get much sleep last night. Cut me some slack.”

“Ha. You stayed with Felicity MacGregor.” He waved a hand. “Not asking.”

“I sat out by the fire in your old fireplace. Alone.”

His grandfather raised an eyebrow, skeptical.

Gabe grinned. “Mostly alone, but it’s not what you think.” Time to change the subject. “I should stop and see Dad on the way out of town.”

“He’s on his way here. He got wind of a Jane Austen tea party this afternoon and wants to talk me into dressing up as a Regency guy. He doesn’t fit into any of the tights or I swear he’d do it. Say what you will about your father, he’s game for anything.”

“Do you fit into the tights?” Gabe asked, amused.

“It doesn’t matter. I’d never get them off and I’m not asking one of the aides to help me.”

“The sight of you in tights would get all the old ladies excited.”

“The sight of you in tights would.”

Gabe let that comment slide past him. They resumed their walk, the path looping past empty birdfeeders, ready to be filled for winter, back toward the sunroom.
