It’s not every day that you see a dead body at the beach. Or the woman of your dreams sitting next to that dead body.

Price Crow first saw Sabrina Proctor in the middle of a hurricane.

She’d been sitting next to her dead best friend, who’d passed away on the beach, with no way to get her back home, thanks to the world’s worst luck, and one hell of a storm.

So Price does what any decent person would do: he carries Sabrina’s dead best friend to their beach house and doesn’t leave her side until he’s forced to.

He had every intention of bridging that gap, of checking up on her and making sure she was okay, but life is funny and has a way of making a mockery of the best-laid plans.

Despite one hell of a connection, under the worst of circumstances, they go their separate ways. At least, he tries to. But he can’t stop thinking about her, and it becomes apparent, very fast, that he has a decision to make.

Choose Sabrina, or live out the rest of his life making everyone else around him happy except for himself.

Such emotional depth! Lani Lynn Vale has a way with tearing your heart out and putting it slowly back together again when she writes about loss in her books. Tears are often near, but just as quickly she can have you smiling through the sad at some of the adorable antics her characters get into for love. The story almost always could shine a little more with some further development, but sometimes the way the emotion can reach you means EVERYTHING.

Price is loving, loyal and fierce and I loved every minute of him.

Sabrina is strong and resolute as life’s unfairness touches her way too often. I love the way she can move forward through the weight of the world.

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that enjoys a close knit family that isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty when it comes to protecting their loved ones, righting wrongs and finding their forever love.

A summer of healing, friendship, love…and a secret that could change everything.

After the death of her US senator father, Marlow Madsen travels to the small island off the coast of Florida where she spent summers growing up to help her mother settle the family estate. For Marlow, the trip is a chance to reconnect after too long apart. It’s also the perfect escape to help her feel grounded again—one she’s happy to share with friends Aida and Claire, who are hoping to hit reset on their lives, too.

A leisurely beachfront summer promises the trio of women the opportunity to take deep healing breaths and explore new paths. But when her father’s will reveals an earth-shattering secret that tarnishes his impeccable reputation and everything she thought she knew about her family, Marlow finds herself questioning her entire childhood—and aspects of her future. Fortunately, her friends, and the most unlikely love interest she could imagine, prove that happiness can be found no matter what—as long as the right people are by your side.

This beach read is sure to hook you from the very start! Love, friendship and loss are front and center as we delve into Brenda Novak’s SUMMER ON THE ISLAND and as the story unravels a good bit of drama enters the picture. For me I’m less likely to sink deeply into enjoyment when there is a lot of pandemic talk in the story since let’s face it, we’ve all had to live it personally way too much right now, so it starts out iffy for me, but I quickly got drawn into the characters and enjoyed their stories regardless.

Marlow is kind-hearted and easy to like. The drama that this trip opens up for her is unexpected, but the she also gains love and understanding throughout.

I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a dramatic women’s fiction story with strong elements of romance chock full of attention grabbing characters and love, laughter and angst enough to fill your heart.

She's a small-town cop
…after a killer.

After losing her fiancé to an IED explosion, sheriff's deputy Dallas Jones planned to start over in Whiskey Gulch. But murder in the quiet Texas town upends her life. To catch the unknown suspect, Dallas partners with Outrider Levi Warren, a former Delta Force operative living with PTSD. Their dogged investigation riddled with gangs, drugs and death threats sparks an unexpected attraction…one they may not survive.

Whiskey Gulch hooked me again! With the fourth book in The Outriders Series Elle James delivers a fast paced jaunt into danger with SETUP AT WHISKEY GULCH and I enjoyed it from start to finish.

Dallas is easy to connect with and an interesting character to get to know and follow into danger and back. I enjoyed her.

Levi is a solid addition to the Outriders and his determination to help Dallas stay safe was endearing.

I recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that enjoys a little drama mixed with highly intense intrigue and a satisfying romance.
