It all comes down to this.

Mari Marcosa's family—the three men who are her very world—is back together.

She won’t let anything tear them apart. Not again.

May God have mercy on her enemies.

Because she won’t.

•••••

Author’s note: Vicious Throne is the conclusion of the Gilded Empire series, and cannot be read out of order. This is a "Why Choose?" romance with violence, dark themes, and ruthlessly possessive—and protective—men.

Crouch delivers the angst and does not disappoint with her first dive into mafia romance and polyamory! I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a huge fan of cliffhangers, but if the characters draw me in enough I’m willing to pull out my patience once in awhile and these characters definitely held my attention. This series was powerful and dramatic as danger and secrets lurked around every corner. Each book delivered on drama, angst and sexy allegiance. I loved the characters, the plot had lots of twists and turns and this final one really revealed some unexpected secrets that no one was expecting. I wanted a tad more sewing up of a few tidbits, but overall a very solid series with so much to enjoy. Highly recommend!

She’s always been off limits, but when she shows up with my baby, it’s a game changer.

I’m the only son of one of the best forwards in the history of hockey. I play for a team on the brink of winning the Cup, and I’m about to break one of my dad’s league records. Life is absolutely golden.

Until Mallory Echolls comes to my game in Los Angeles with a baby. She says the little guy is mine, and as soon as I see his green eyes and the dimple in his pudgy chin I know she’s not lying.

The tragic twist? He’s not Mallory’s baby. An awful accident on the other side of the world took his birth mom, and now I’m all he’s got. Well, me and my ninety-seven relatives… once I find the guts to tell them.

Mallory offers to stay in L.A. and help with the baby until I can wrap my head, and my life, around him. She’s amazing with my son. She always knows what to do and what to say and… was she always this gorgeous?

Our families back home hate each other so just being friends with her was always a risk. Now the stakes are higher than ever. My son needs her. And I can’t stop the feelings I have from growing stronger.

I always take my shot on the ice, but do I dare take this one?

Denault is pouring on the angst with her Hockey Royalty series and I’m loving every minute of it! Strong minded characters are front and center as we delve into a life turned upside down and how the pieces are assembled to put it back together again, better than ever. The storyline is well developed, the main couple is super easy to like and sincere in their connection and the feels are all I needed and more!

Tate is a really great character. He’s a young hockey playing playboy, but he has been raised well to be kindhearted and honest in his relationships. I loved seeing him bond with his kiddo and watching him find that forever love was heartwarming.

I highly recommend this book as well as the first in the series to anyone who enjoys a hockey romance revolving around close knit families of blood and of hockey as each leading man meets the one that knocks him off his skates.

As they do each June, the Foxes have driven the winding roads of Appalachia to drop off their children for a two-week stay at their grandmother’s. Here, twelve-year-old Thea can run free and breathe in the smells of pine and fresh bread and Grammie’s handmade candles. But as her parents head back to suburban Virginia, they have no idea they’re about to cross paths with a ticking time bomb.

Back in Kentucky, Thea and her grandmother Lucy both awaken from the same nightmare. And though the two have never discussed the special kind of sight they share, they know as soon as their tearful eyes meet that something terrible has happened.

The kids will be staying with Grammie now in Redbud Hollow, and thanks to Thea’s vision, their parents’ killer will spend his life in supermax. Over time, Thea will make friends, build a career, find love. But that ability to see into minds and souls still lurks within her, and though Grammie calls it a gift, it feels more like a curse—because the inmate who shattered her childhood has the same ability. Thea can hear his twisted thoughts and witness his evil acts from miles away. He knows it, and hungers for vengeance. A long, silent battle will be waged between them—and eventually bring them face to face, and head to head…

Nora Roberts weaves a story that takes her reader into the heart of her character’s turmoil as we follow along on an emotional journey of healing and survival! I was quickly hooked from the very first description of this family and once the drama really started to play out, there was no way I could put it down. Fast paced and addictive with a family that is easy to love and pull for as twist after twist comes knocking. I loved Thea and Tyler made a really great sounding board for her to rely on in the end. Lots of angst, danger and romance mixed in. Highly recommend!

In this deliciously tender, steamy romance, a burned-out musician swaps city life for cottage country only to find that slowing down means a racing heart, thanks to the grumpy guy next door…

When Willow Moore’s lifelong dream of music stardom goes bust, she’s burned out enough to need drastic change. As in, she’s trading her Brooklyn apartment for two months in the Connecticut countryside. Soon she’s baking bread, spending Saturdays at the farmer’s market and stopping to smell the roses, but some things in her new #cottagecore life aren’t so pleasant. Like her landlord, former chef Reid Harrell. As grouchy and reserved as Willow is chatty and outgoing, Reid is an annoyingly sexy keep-out sign. If only Willow was good at staying away.

Something about Reid, a sliver of pain poking through that flinty facade, makes her wonder if they’re more alike than she thought. Reid once chased success, too, and found it—at a price. Now all he wants is to be left alone to garden, but Willow's not giving up so quick, especially when one of their heated arguments sparks an idea for a song. Her renewed creativity awakens them both, hurling them into a passionate vortex neither expects.

As the summer winds down, Willow is forced to confront her needs, wants and desires, not to mention Reid, the hardest puzzle of all to figure out. Maybe it’s time for the city girl to stop dwelling on dreams dashed and start following her heart—no matter where it might take her…

Heartfelt and inspiring! I didn’t get a huge romantic comedy vibe out of this storyline, but I got a whole lot of healing and rediscovery and I loved every single minute of it! Willow and Reid were super cute. He was grumpy and she was sort of supposed to be perceived as sunshine but since she was dealing with her own upheaval of life it was more like she brought heart and just genuine kindness to the picture. Very easy to like them both, really quaint take on falling for a summer fling and I loved the town as a whole. I’m looking forward to Bailey’s story … but she has some redeeming to do because I sort of don’t like her already.

Highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read that pulls at your heartstrings and brings a satisfying happily ever after in the end.

Two homicide detectives must separate the puzzling truth from a growing web of lies while investigating a murder victim’s friends and lovers in Lost Beach, Texas.

Detective Nicole Lawson is fed up with her job and nonexistent love life. Her first date in months gets cut short by an urgent call from the chief of police. A body has been discovered at Lighthouse Point, and the medical examiner finds an array of strange clues. When the death is ruled a homicide, the news quickly reverberates through Nicole’s beachside hometown.

The Lost Beach police department swings into high gear. Leading the investigation is Emmet Davis, a veteran detective who is Nicole’s fiercest rival at work and also the man she has secretly harbored feelings toward for years. With Emmet calling the shots, Nicole sets out to search for leads, starting with the enigmatic yoga instructor who first discovered the body. Nicole is certain the witness knows more than she’s revealing and may even hold the key to unlocking the case.

When another person turns up dead under suspicious circumstances, Nicole sees a bizarre pattern, but no one believes her theory. Under the gun to solve the case, Nicole must put aside her tumultuous feelings and work closely with Emmet to figure out who is targeting her beloved hometown . . . before she becomes a target herself.

Fast paced and entertaining! Laura Griffin’s Texas Murder Files series is a little looser than some in bringing the past couple’s back into the forefront as this police force works crime together, but we often hear mention of several of them. With this particular case, a slow burn romance is teasing beneath the surface for Detectives Nicole Lawson and Emmet Davis, so that’s a highpoint that keeps the angst high as we meander through the daily lives of the Lost Beach Police Department. The characters are easy to like, the mystery playing out throughout is very interesting and the camaraderie between these coworkers really warms the scene. I felt like the completion of the case was a tad weak, but I was really invested in it throughout the book.

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a good mystery but also enjoys a common cast to get to know along the way of solving the crimes.

She was the one who got away.

Slipped right through my fingers.

My crush, my muse, my wife.

When she asked for a divorce, I had no choice but to let her go, but my heart would never comply.

Not even after the shocking revelation that rocked me to my core.

I’ll never stop loving her, but I don’t know if I can ever forgive her.

Seeing her again brings memories crashing to the surface, feelings I’d rather stay buried.

Now I’m torn between the love we shared and the hate I’m desperate to feel for her.

It would make everything so much easier.

What happens when lightning strikes twice?

I have no idea.

But, we’re about to find out.

Fast paced and oh so addictive! Anyone who has been enjoying Kat Mizera’s Rock Harder series alongside me has known since the very start that Tommy’s book was going to be dramatic, but the honesty and effort they put into healing for this reunion with Harley is even more gut wrenching than I was expecting. I adored them together! I felt like it was a little rushed. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of them living their life together, but overall it was a sensational addition to the series. Bravo on putting prioritizing their mental health in the spotlight!

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that loves a good rocker romance with lots of heart and emotion bubbling over in every book. I do feel like this is one of those series that works better if read in order because there’s a whole lot learned about each other as the band takes their turn in the spotlight one by one to find their forever.

When Foster McInnis’ ex-wife flakes and he finds himself with full custody of his daughter, the nanny he hires brings a new complication—an attraction he can’t ignore, no matter how hard he tries.

I love being on the ice and am grateful for my hockey career, but the off season is my favorite time of the year because it brings me my one true love—my daughter, Bowie Jane. Between my job and my ex-wife living across the country, the time I get to spend face-to-face with my kiddo is limited, though we make up for it with summers full of fun adventures. We’re thick as thieves and take full advantage of our time together, but the distance away from her is killing me.

My fortunes change when my ex walks away and I find myself with full custody. But with the hockey season looming, I know I’m going to need help taking care of Bowie Jane. Enter Mary Elizabeth Archer—otherwise known as Mazzy. Highly recommended to me through the Titans’ network, Mazzy crashes into our life like a hurricane. She’s unlike anyone I’ve ever met and to say I’m intrigued is an understatement. But no matter how attractive she is, no matter how I crave to know everything about her, I can’t go there. It’s inappropriate. Just wrong, wrong, wrong, even though she might be the most right thing I’ve ever known.

Being the indescribable force she is, there is soon no corner of our lives that Mazzy hasn’t impacted in a positive way. And my desire for more with her becomes far stronger than my misguided idea that I could ever resist this woman. Our attraction burns hot and keeping our eyes, hands and mouths off one another gets harder by the minute. It doesn’t take long for me to know that I’m all in with Mazzy. She’s my end game and, lucky for me, winning is my specialty.

Adorable attention grabbing sexy goodness from start to finish! I love all of Sawyer Bennett’s hockey hunks, but the dad’s she brings to life just have an even more special place in my heart. Great character development, all the feels plus so much adorable cuteness in his daughter’s character and such a satisfying happily ever after. I wanted a bit more at the end because it felt really abrupt during the drop-off after the drama that occurs, but overall I adored this book and loved every minute of Foster, Mazzy and Bowie Jane!

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a sexy romance revolving around the game of hockey withs lots of laughs, emotional pulls and heart rolled into the mix towards that happily ever after.

The Wilders know their weddings and this time it’s for one of their own.

Naomi and Amos have been the secret backbone to the Wilder Brothers’ Retreat and Winery for years.

They’ve also loved and hated each other along the way.

Their on and off again relationship has always worked for them, but now it’s getting in the way of the next Wilder Wedding.

If they don’t figure out what they want, one of them will have to do what they feared: leave the Wilders.

But if they take that leap, they might just break.

Or finally have what they’ve always wanted.

Each other.

Dramatically delicious! Fans of Carrie Ann Ryan’s Wilder Brothers series will be thrilled to jump into this short novella that showcases employees Naomi and Amos and their connection to the venue, the family and each other as the family readies for the wedding of Ridge and Aurora. The story was short but dramatic as Naomi and Amos wrestle with how they feel about one another and when to stop nursing their pride and admit it once and for all. There’s not time for a huge amount of development in this size of book, so a good bit of their time together and the start of their turmoil is glossed over, but I liked them a lot and was happy to be along for the ride. Looking forward to more to come in the series! I highly recommend this series as a whole!

I loved weddings.

There. I said it. I loved everything that went into a wedding and the day of. Some people called them a spectacle and a waste of money. After all, it was one big party for most people in which money, blood, sweat, tears, and countless spreadsheets went into to make them seemingly perfect. Even though no day was actually perfect.

And I loved it all.

I loved the moment. That moment when the bride and groom, or two grooms, two brides, or any poly mix, found themselves looking at each other for the first time.

I loved the shock, the glee, the terror, the excitement. I loved when brides ended up nearly running to their grooms. Or that one time when the two grooms decided to meet halfway down the aisle, even though it wasn’t planned, it just happened. I loved everything about that moment.

The moment you knew that you made the right decision. Where love conquered all and your stomach tightened because you knew this was it. That moment. That everything.

Of course, not all weddings worked perfectly. And not all weddings made sense. Sometimes you went in having a horrible feeling that this just wasn’t going to work out. That they were making a mistake with their decisions.

But those didn’t happen as often as some people thought.

When you decide to give your all to someone, to promise to love and to protect and to cherish that person, you go all in.

What comes later may change things. Perhaps you’re not the same person you once were, so those promises don’t mean what they used to. Or perhaps you realize that you were wrong, and you had been looking through rose-colored glasses.

Or perhaps fate deals a cruel blow, and you lose that other person before you even had a chance to make good on that promise.

I sighed and set my chin on my hand as I watched the bride and groom practice their walk down the aisle during the rehearsal. Their wedding was the next morning, and this was a late afternoon rehearsal. Alexis was brand new to the Wilder team, and I was grateful for her and everything she brought not only to the process, but to the Wilders themselves. The past few wedding planners the Wilder brothers hired hadn’t been up to scratch. In fact, they had failed so hard I was surprised they could even write a single to-do list.

I had worked here before the Wilder brothers had even come to Texas. To be honest, I had been a little skeptical of them. After all, most of them had no experience with running a winery, running an inn, or dealing with events, let alone weddings.

Six strapping brothers, all in a different state of denial and damage, had shown up at our door and proclaimed themselves our new bosses. Our former boss had decided to retire. He had tried his best, and had laid down a decent foundation, but since the Wilder brothers had shown up, we had changed for the better.

We were still finding our way, but the Wilder brothers were making things work. And from what I could tell, a few of them were creating sparks of their own.

Alexis and Eli seemed to be enjoying each other’s company, although it was my job as innkeeper of the Wilder Inn to ensure that the staff didn’t gossip about our big boss and the wedding planner. Nor were we allowed to gossip about our new chef, Kendall Wilder, and her ex-husband, Evan. No, we didn’t talk about those things.

Only it was the best thing we talked about.

Sparks flew and one day someone was going to get burned. However, I had a good feeling about them. That meant there were still four more Wilders, and I heard there was even another set of cousins, so there were more sexy Wilders out there. They needed happy ever afters too, and who knew, maybe this Wilder Retreat and Winery could be the thing that changed everything for them.

Because it made changes and hope for others.

It made things spark.

“Excuse me, ma’am? Is this where we check in?”

I immediately turned back to the front of my desk, smiling wide. I hadn’t heard the older couple come in, and that meant I needed to get my head out of the stars and actually focus on my job.

“Yes of course, I’m sorry. Welcome. Mr. and Mrs. Statham, is it?” I asked, remembering their names from the schedule book. We were a large inn with multiple cabins and rooms within our main building, but we weren’t so large that I couldn’t remember timings and faces if I did my social media scooping well enough. I knew their likes, dislikes, and little touches from the survey they filled out.

Not everyone had social media, so thankfully many people who wanted to enjoy their trip and feel loved and cared for filled out the survey properly. Including allergies, their favorite color, and other random things. The more thorough, the more I could enhance their trip.

I had a whole team to help me with that, to help clean rooms and to keep the large all-wood entryway pristine. But I usually rolled up my sleeves and put in some elbow grease beside them.

Many of the team from before left after our old boss decided to abandon ship. The Wilders had hired so many new faces that sometimes it felt like I was constantly catching up. But the core of us, we were still here.

Like Maddie, Jay, and Amos from the winery. They hadn’t wanted to leave the grapes or the barrels, so they stayed, and I had a feeling they would never leave. After all, Elijah and Evan Wilder were kicking ass over there, though I couldn’t read Elijah, because I didn’t know if he was smirking or not, and Evan liked to growl.

But he fit in over there because Amos loved to growl too.

Not that I was thinking about Amos.

It was better not to think about him. When I had first seen him, I’d swooned.

Yes, I’d swooned.

That big bushy beard and those dark eyes and slanted eyebrows that always made him look angry. I loved them. He was all wide and full of muscle. He could lift like nobody’s business, and put some of the Wilders to shame in the muscle department. And when he pushed up his sleeves to his elbows, showing off those forearms? I nearly fanned myself just thinking about it. A girl could weep.

Of course, now I was thinking about Amos while I was checking in our new guests and showing them around the lobby before I led them to their rooms. That was probably bad for business.

Plus, it wasn’t great for my heart.

After all, Amos had no idea I had a crush on him. And he didn’t need to know—ever.

Ava Decker has hated me for just as many years as I’ve spent loving her.

I made a mistake pretending our night together never happened. For pretending I forgot. But we were young and I was getting ready to leave for college with big plans for the future.

I had no plans to return to our small town in Colorado anytime soon and Ava never wanted to leave. That alone was enough to keep me away from her while we both grew up.

And yet, I never forgot about her and what she means to me.

Now eight years later, imagine my surprise, when I come home and find Sleeping Beauty asleep on my couch, thinking I wouldn’t be back home from my off-season vacation for a few weeks.

As a professional football player, I know all about grabbing an opportunity and running with it. This is my chance to finally convince the girl of my dreams to stay and to tell her the truth about that fateful night years ago.

But getting Ava Decker to not only forgive me but to give me another chance comes with a whole new set of plays I’m not used to.

I’ve got all the time in the world to convince her. I’m committed to showing to her that she is my endgame. I let her go once before and I’ll stop at nothing to prove to her that my love for her is real and an unstoppable force.

**Warning: Readers should be mindful that Unstoppable Love contains multiple descriptive scenes of attempted assault that may be sensitive and triggering to some.

Sentimental and endearing enemies to lovers reunion! I’m enjoying The Kelley Family series by Stacey Lynn quite a bit, but I wasn’t hooked on Cam quite as much as I was on his brother Caleb’s story. It was quite enjoyable early on, but the ending in particular had a lot of potential angst that was glossed over instead of being developed into an integral part of the story. I enjoy the parents and it’s interesting to have a mixed pro sports family to interact with. I’m looking forward to more in the series! Fast paced, well developed characters with lots of drama, the ending needed a little work but overall a solid read and a fun dip back into the series.

I recommend this book as well as the first in the series to anyone who enjoys a smalltown family feel with pro sports kids coming back home to interact and suffer real world problems along the way. Heartwarming family, passionate connections and sweet happily ever afters.

THE KEY TO CINDERELLA’S INHERITANCE…

When Anastasia finds herself in need of a husband, she turns to her best friend, millionaire tycoon Connor. She’s always carried a torch for the guy from next door, but anything romantic is completely off-limits. The relationship might be faux, but once she’s wearing Connor’s ring, Ana’s very real desire for him becomes impossible to hide any longer… Especially when his “I do” kiss feels anything but fake!

The friends to lovers trope always tugs on my heartstrings! Kandy Shepherd is up third in the One Year to Wed series with Ana’s story. I haven’t read the previous books in the series but it was easy to catch up on the past happenings and pick up with Ana and Connor. The characters are easy to like and the premise of the series is dramatic and sure to bring out the angst. I loved that Ana and Connor were the best of friends, but it did lead to a fast progression of their relationship a little more so than if they had to get to know each other from the start. I enjoyed them together.

Ana was my favorite sister because she was able to love with no resentment in her heart even though she was held apart from her sisters for so long. I liked her kind heart.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys when friendship turns to love with lots of tension and mishaps along the way.
