Now she needs to find the perfect fake fiancé for one night. And only one man fits the bill.

Geek turned tech entrepreneur Owen Dalton already had his heart broken by Jenny Castelli. Still, he finds himself agreeing to her proposition—even as he struggles to remember that the chemistry sparking between them isn’t real. But when Jenny’s ex makes a play for custody and Owen is forced to deal with the family who always treated him as “second best,” their arrangement suddenly becomes very personal. And that lie they’ve been telling everyone? It isn’t nearly as big as the one they’ve been telling themselves.

If not for her loving but controlling parents, Beth Prudhomme might never have taken charge of her life and moved from her native Chicago to Portland, Oregon, where she’s reconnected with her spirited Aunt Sunshine and found a job as a high school music teacher. If not for her friend Nichole, Beth would never have met Sam Carney, although first impressions have left Beth with serious doubts. Sam is everything Beth is not—and her parents’ worst nightmare: a tattooed auto mechanic who’s rough around the edges. Reserved and smart as a whip, Beth isn’t exactly Sam’s usual beer-drinking, pool-playing type of woman, either.

But if not for an awkward setup one evening, Beth might never have left early and been involved in a car crash. And if not for Sam—who witnessed the terrifying ordeal, rushed to her aid, and stayed with her until help arrived—Beth might have been all alone, or worse. Yet as events play out, Sam feels compelled to check on Beth almost daily at the hospital—even bringing his guitar to play songs to lift her spirits. Soon their unlikely friendship evolves into an intense attraction that surprises them both.

Before long, Beth’s strong-willed mother, Ellie, blows into town spouting harsh opinions, especially about Sam, and reopening old wounds with Sunshine. When shocking secrets from Sam’s past are revealed, Beth struggles to reconcile her feelings. But when Beth goes a step too far, she risks losing the man and the life she’s come to love.

Debbie Macomber pulls at our heartstrings with this latest book in her New Beginning series! If you read either of the previous books in the series, you’ll be sure to recognize Nichole who is the BFF of the heroine of this one. It was fun to catch up on how she and Rocco are doing and hearing a little about Owen, Leanne & Nicolai! 🙂  I enjoyed the characters and the plot for the most part, but found it a little difficult to connect with them as a whole. There were however several sub-plots that added a lot to the overall book.

Beth Prudhomme was at her wits end with her overbearing mother, so she up and moved from her home in Chicago to Portland, Oregon where her beloved Aunt Sunshine lived. It was exhilarating for her to finally be on her own to find the job of her dreams teaching music to high schoolers, and enjoying living however she wanted to. When her fellow teacher and friend Nichole wants to set her up with a friend of her husband’s, she’s leary, but she agrees to go.

Mechanic Sam Carney isn’t the type of guy she’d ever take home to her mother. He’s long haired and tattooed and cusses like a sailor. They are both quick to realize they aren’t interested in each other and beat a hasty retreat as soon as dinner is over, but a chance accident at the corner changes their lives in ways they never could have imagined! Sam is the first on the scene after she’s hit by a car that ran the red light, and he keeps her calm and stays by her side until help arrives. He goes to the hospital with her and finds himself returning every day while she recovers. The connection they felt at the accident scene and the hours they spend visiting draws them closer and eventually into a relationship. Will they each be able to overcome their own issues and pasts in order to make a future together?

Becoming an ER doctor had been David McGregor’s mission ever since he could remember. But after tragedy strikes at his hospital in Chicago, David runs away from the guilt—all the way back to Latham Hills, Michigan, where he takes a job tending bar at his childhood friend’s restaurant. That’s how he meets Camden Reed, and the way Camden refuses to give him the time of day should be a turnoff. Instead, he’s drawn to her tough, tightly wound exterior, and soon David realizes that he has a new mission: to see her tightly wound beneath him.

Camden’s fighting tooth and nail to resist the desire she feels for David. Growing up dirt-poor, raised by a single mother, she worked twice as hard to get where she is today, and she doesn’t have any patience for the kind of guy who’d give up a decent paycheck to sling drinks. But when the sexual tension finally combusts between the sheets, Camden discovers that people aren’t always what they seem. As David pushes her past her limits, Camden begins to loosen up—and to trust that, when she falls, there will be someone waiting to catch her.

An emotionally raw novel filled with a couple of wounded souls finding healing in each other’s arms! It was bittersweet to read this book because even though it’s one of my favorites in the series, it’s also the last. Sad to let this great group of friends go!

David McGregor abandoned his life in Chicago to come to his friend’s aid in Latham Hills, Michigan, but the fact that Aidan needed him was just happenstance to the fact that he needed to leave the turmoil of his life behind. He may have been a doctor once upon a time, but the trauma that happened one night led him to this place … to the heartache that he feels … and to just needing the easy life of bartending at his buddy’s bar for a little while.

Camden Reed carries her own secrets from past heartache, and she doesn’t do relationships … but she can’t deny she’s drawn to the ever-flirting David even if he isn’t the type of man she would ever go for. She needs stability, not a flitting through life bartender!

When passion ignites and secrets are revealed, will the fallout lead to forgiveness and a future no one expected?

With lethal terrorists on their heels, Austin and Sophia must embark on a covert operation. But it will mean placing Sophia even more in harm's way—a sacrifice not even the steel-hearted SEAL may be able to make.

Exciting from the first page and filled with lots of mystery and a touch of romance to grab our attention. The characters are a pleasure to get to know. The ending seemed really abrupt, but we did get a small look into what happened afterwards with an epilogue. Looking forward to more to come in this new series!

Sailor Carlson comes back to Boston to make amends with her dad, only to find he passed away, and his bar, the Alibi, now belongs to a bearded, grumpy hottie. Mr. Hottie liked her enough for a night of nameless sex on the kitchen counter, but he wants nothing to do with her now he knows who she is.

Ryan Edwards has been running the Alibi for seven years. Being in a bar night after night means he's no stranger to one-night stands. But when the quirky, beautiful blonde he spent a hot night with shows up at his bar claiming it used to belong to her father, his guard goes right up.

Ryan's desperate for a waitress, and Sailor wants a chance to work in the place that meant so much to her dad. If only the tenuous trust they establish were as strong as the pesky attraction simmering between them.

A story of regret and redemption. It was a fun read, and the characters are pretty likable … my one pet peeve, and it might just be me, but the constant “Heh-heh” of the heroine was like nails on a chalkboard … so irritating! Overall I enjoyed it, but didn’t fall in love with it.

Sailor Carlson made a boat load of mistakes in her life that she only wishes she could have the chance to atone for. Her biggest regret is how she treated her father, but sadly, he died before she made the effort to come back home and make up with him. She lives with that guilt on her shoulders every day, and thinks if she could somehow feel close to him again, she could be more at peace.

Ryan Edwards meets Sailor one night at a bar and has a sexy night with her, but the next day his eyes are opened when she comes into his bar and makes it plain that she thinks it should be hers. He was left the bar by a man who was like a father to him in his teenage years, and has been running it ever since. It’s certainly not his fault Sailor disowned her father all those years ago!

As they let down their guard and get to know each other, will they figure out they actually like each other? And as Sailor works side-by-side at the bar with Ryan, will it make her feel a part of her father that she’s missed all these years?

Their sexy cease-fire!

Working together to save Paddington Children's Hospital, paramedic Victoria Christie and Dr. Dominic MacBride never fail to challenge each other. Until one night they discover a new way to relieve the tension…by turning their arguments into reckless abandon!

Dom came to Paddington's to escape a betrayal and has no intention of falling in love—but when Victoria reveals she's pregnant he finds himself reevaluating his lone-wolf status. Now he's fighting for the woman who fires his blood, and their surprise baby!

Carol Marinelli kicks off the new Paddington Children’s Hospital series with a surprise baby! The connection between the characters is rather innocent at first. They hint at fireworks and passionate fights, but we come in on a slight disagreement and notice a little attraction. Opportunity leads to a one-time fling, and then SURPRISE! … they’re pregnant! 🙂 I’m looking forward to the future books in the series because this hospital was fun to read about!

London paramedic Victoria Chase loves her job and does it well. She could do without the criticism of the new A & E doc, but such is life! She does have to admit to appreciating his hotness though … and that accent!

Dr. Dominic MacBride fled his home in Edinburgh to get away from some family drama and betrayal, but unfortunately he still carries the pain with him. He knows he’s been a bear and sets out to apologize to Victoria. One thing leads to another and they have a one-night fling. Imagine their surprise when they find out they have a baby on the way! Due to some of that past betrayal, it makes for an awkward situation that they have to find a way to work through. Will they each be able to let down their guard enough to let the other one in and actually enjoy a relationship out of this?

Playing it safe has never felt so dangerous…

Justice Wallington knows how to harness his strength and intimidating size—skills he put to good use first in the MMA cage and now as a bodyguard at the Body Armor agency. But no opponent has ever left him feeling as off balance as his new client, heiress Fallon Wade. Far from a spoiled princess, she's sweet and intriguingly innocent. It's a risk-free assignment, until he's required to fake a relationship with her in order to blend in.

Sheltered from the world after a family tragedy, Fallon longs to experience life—going to bars, dancing, talking to strangers. Not easy with a huge, lethal-looking bodyguard shadowing her every move. Justice seems like her polar opposite, but pretending to be a couple stirs undeniable heat. And when danger strikes again, it's not just her safety in jeopardy, but a passion that's real, raw and absolutely against the rules…

Potent sex appeal at it’s best! Really loving this series by Lori Foster. Former MMA fighters turned bodyguards … they bring the lethal edge of power that their bodies exude, along with the steamy, raw passion they put into their work, as well as their women. Generally nice guys that warm up the pages! Looking forward to more to come!

Justice Wallington left his career in MMA fighting to join his buddy Leese Phelps as a bodyguard at the Body Armor Agency. He’s really enjoying his job, but he’s not sure how to read this latest assignment. There seems to be no danger, but extremely over-protective parents to a not so young daughter.

Fallon Wade suffered a huge tragedy and her parents sheltered her from as much of life as they could afterwards. She adores them and they her, but she really is ready for her chance to live … and just breathe! She just wants to try the simple things … a drink, talking and mingling with people in public, going to the movie, etc.

Justice doesn’t expect to feel drawn to her, but she’s a really kind person, and she just touches something in him without even trying. The fondness and attraction is very mutual … and Fallon begins to blossom under the new experiences she is sharing with Justice. When actual danger comes knocking, will he be able to keep his personal feelings in check while he keeps her safe?

Pregnant with the billionaire's babies!

After the painfully public demise of her intense fling with renowned tycoon Henri Sauveterre, Cinnia Whitley discovers she's pregnant…with twins! Cinnia burns with the memory of his touch, but bearing a new generation of the Sauveterre dynasty will bind her to Henri forever—unless she keeps it a secret…

Henri is infuriated when he discovers Cinnia's deception. His little sister's abduction ended all his intentions of having a family—but any Sauveterre deserves his full protection. Henri must make Cinnia his wife, and he'll show her just how pleasurable their reunion can be!

A really nice continuation of The Sauveterre Siblings! I didn’t fall quite as deep into Henri’s story as I did with Angelique’s in the first book, but close. I really enjoy the family dynamics of this group of siblings and especially how close their lives have made them. We saw a hint of trouble in paradise with Henri & Cinnia in the first book and now we get to know exactly what has happened and what the future holds for them. Looking forward to the upcoming books in the quartet!

Cinnia Whitley is a headstrong, independent woman who wants it known to all that she doesn’t need a man to complete her, and she deals with her business and personal decisions on her own. She reluctantly agreed to a fling with Henri Saveterre even though he made it clear from the beginning that it had no future. When she finds herself pregnant … with twins! … she decides to remove herself from the relationship before she has to blow his world apart by adding more responsibility that he very clearly doesn’t want.

Henri is not happy at all when he finds out from another source that Cinnia is pregnant, and he especially doesn’t like that she played a bit of a mind game with him as she left the relationship without telling him. Considering his family history of danger to his loved ones, he insists she move in with him right away so he can make sure she and the babies are protected. This was exactly what Cinnia didn’t want … to be more of a burden … if only he could really love her …
