Down to earth and delicious! With book two in her Ice Kings hockey series, Stacey Lynn delights her readers with another dip into the life of the North Carolina Ice Kings franchise. The hockey action was a little light in this book, but the support of the team and the heart of the situation was spot on.

Micah’s predicament endears him to us right away. He’s passionate about his career and hockey is life to him, but when he discovers his one night of debauchery has made him a Dad, he is quick to step up and own it.

Paisley shines as soon as she steps into the pages. She’s a hard-working student on the cusp of achieving the degree she’s been striving for, but doesn’t hesitate to step in and help a wayward soul with a baby he knows nothing about.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes the brotherhood of a sports romance mixed with a whole lot of heart and lots of sexy times. There were a few places I would have liked to have seen developed a bit more, but overall I really enjoyed Micah and Paisley’s story!

“Who are you?” I don’t like calling her the woman. I’ve wondered her name for months since she started appearing in that doorway so close to mine.

She turns to me and in her arms is the baby. She’s holding a bottle and the baby is drinking. Quiet little sounds come from it and she grins down at the baby in her arms before tilting her head at me.

“What?”

“You. What is your name?”

“Paisley. Are you Mikah?”

She must want money if she knows my name. Perhaps she’s a fan. A puck bunny—that’s what my teammates call the girls who follow players and only want one thing from them.

“How did you know?” I wish she wasn’t so pretty. Sometimes it hurts to talk when all I want to do is look at her.

She points to an envelope on the table. The note.

“It’s on the outside. I didn’t know if it was your name or the baby’s, so I took a guess. Are you… are you okay?”

“A stranger shows up at my door with a baby in her arms, saying it’s mine. How okay am I supposed to be?” I wander to the table while I ask.

I’m surprised by her gentle laugh.

“I suppose this isn’t your typical Friday night.”

She is funny. If I didn’t think I might throw up, I might laugh. No. This is not my typical Friday night. Mine are for resting. Not life-changing drama.

I say nothing and grab the envelope. I stare at it for a moment. Perhaps if I do not open it, I can pretend this didn’t happen. My fingers shake as I tear it open.

The envelope is larger than normal and thick and I’m careful as I pull out several folded papers.

The top one is the most important though as I instantly see my name, written in scrolling black ink.

Everly was an enjoyable character. She instantly had a reader’s sympathy with the type of day she was having when she meets Ian and as instant attraction struck, we waited on pins and needles to see how it would all play out.

Ian was delightful! Just enough aristocracy to satisfy a royalty fan but with enough sex appeal and charm to satisfy us all. He lets us down a bit at one point, but comes back to pick up the pieces and bring it all together in the end.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a family centric plot with a whole lot of strife, chemistry and life lessons. The hockey action is very weak in this story line because it’s taking place in the off-season, but talk of the game is heavy. I really enjoyed Ian and Everly’s story!

That night with Trisha had somehow saved his life. And now she was here. It was almost impossible to comprehend, but when he blinked and looked again, there she was, staring at him with an expression that resembled horror.

Liam glanced around to see Jace and Vivian watching him with quizzical expressions on their faces. How long had he been standing here, lost in memories?

Trisha was so still, she looked like she’d quit breathing. Liam pulled air into his lungs in silent sympathy. “Trisha.” It wasn’t much, but it was all he could manage.

His words seemed to startle her out of whatever trance she’d been stuck in. “Hello, Liam.”

He didn’t quite understand the extra emphasis she put on his name. But it was hard to understand much when she was standing right here in front of him. She’d seemed like an angel that night in Texas, come down to grant him another chance at life. Ever since, he’d wondered if she were even real.

“Nice to meet you.” Trisha’s voice was almost robotic. She was acting like they were strangers. But this was her. His Trisha. He was sure of it. His memories of that night were strangely clear, despite the pills and too many glasses of champagne.

And then he remembered. He’d given her his full name that night. William. Maybe because he’d been desperate to be someone else, the guy he’d been before the painkillers seeped like foul water into the cracks of his being. But from Trisha’s view, he must seem like a jerk. He’d offered a fake name and disappeared at the first light of dawn.

If she wanted to be strangers, Liam owed it to her to follow her lead. He pushed away the questions piling up inside. “Thanks. I feel lucky to be here.”

Trisha’s eyes shifted quickly back to Jace and Vivian, dismissing him completely. “I’ll see you soon, guys.” She jogged down the porch steps, heading for a small red hatchback. And there was her limp, putting a tiny uneven hitch in her gait and chasing away any last doubts he’d had about her identity.

He watched as she got into her car and drove away, unable to tear his gaze away, even as she disappeared around the bend of Jace’s driveway.

Fun, flirty and fantastic! With the third book in the Gone Wild series, Avery Flynn brings us Aubrey’s story in ATTRACTING AUBREY and it’s my favorite in the series so far! I loved seeing a little more mingling of the friends in this book than the prior two.

Aubrey catches a reader’s eye from the very beginning when playing a prank puts her in the radar of a hunky stranger … who on closer inspection is the super-hero actor she’s been lusting after on Instagram! Aubrey is a fun character with more depth than originally expected.

Carter might be a superstar, but he’s just a guy wanting to walk through life unrecognized for a change. He’s amazingly down to earth and earns Aubrey’s affection quickly.

I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone wanting a fast paced interwoven series that packs a sizzling punch, but in a light-hearted way. Lots of heat, humor and heart!

Grace is easy to like and quick to charm. She is more low-key than most of her friends and is simply looking forward to a little relaxation time … if only one of her friends didn’t decide to play a trick on her.

Bryan is kind and accomplished. When he stumbles upon Grace in a compromising position, he uses his charm to calm the tension and gain a promise of help in testing his latest app. A week of whirlwind outings is sure to please.

I recommend this book to anyone enjoying a low-key romance with a richly developed atmosphere. The characters could have used a bit more fleshing out instead of the food, but overall I enjoyed it.

Yeah, shit. See, he’d known that was the wrong answer to give. Guys didn’t go around claiming women like they were property or possessions. He knew that. He’d never had that urge before. This woman was strong and independent and confident and certainly didn’t need him for anything.

But the idea of another man touching her, seeing her naked, making her feel the ultimate pleasure, made his blood boil.

She stood, just staring at him. Then she picked up a cake ball. And threw it at him. It hit him square in the red tie and bounced back onto the table.

“You’re a jerk.”

Yeah, maybe he was. A nice guy would probably just take all her explanations and excuses about why they shouldn’t be together and admit his idea was crazy.

I did feel there was a noticeable lack of interaction between the friends which is the only thing that would have made the book feel even more complete.

Kendall was super easy to like and sympathize with when she discovers the relaxing cruise she planned to re-connect with her friends from college is going to be far from relaxing because they accidentally got put on a singles party cruise!

Alex is pretty irresistible … for Kendall and for the reader. He’s a workaholic and from the start is worrying about getting back to the family bar that he runs, but he quickly recognizes his good fortune when things start to heat up between them.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a steaming hot tryst that accidentally turns into forever. Great characters, a perfect setting and lots of emotions running high. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Veda had to bite her lip to stem the groan; her Benedict Arnold body wanted those expert hands everywhere and all at once. And if he woke up now, that could very well be where they’d end up. Making love like nothing else mattered.

As if there weren’t already enough prices to pay.

Tippy-toe quiet, she reached behind her and found the big, hot hand cupping her rear end. She carefully coiled her fingers around his wrist, then tried to lift and shift it.

Seriously? His arm must be made of lead.

Knuckling down, Veda tried again. When she’d finally managed to ease herself away, she held her breath. But he didn’t stir. Not an inch.

So, slide off the bed, dive into your clothes, bolt out the hotel suite’s front door and never look back. Never go back. Still, a knot of bittersweet longing kept her hanging. Ajax was the best she’d ever had—the best there ever was.

And how many other women had thought the exact same thing?

He sucked in another sharp breath, rolled onto his back and scooped his arm under his pillow while his other hand gave those ripped abs a languid rub or two. Then his brow pinched, eyelids flickered open, and Veda’s stomach dropped.

Too late to run now.

Ajax frowned sleepily at the ceiling, getting his bearings, before turning his gaze onto her. When one corner of his wholly kissable mouth eased up—when his lungs expanded on a breath that said, “Oh, yeah…I remember you”—Veda’s resolve to do better wobbled like a thimble full of Jell-O.

Ajax’s dreamy ocean-deep blue eyes smiled into hers as he spoke with a sexy growl that was equal parts playful and deadly serious.

“You need to come over here.” He cocked an eyebrow, smiling wider as the sheet tented over his waist. “On second thought, I can’t wait that long.”

When he rolled back toward her, heat rushed through her blood, pooling deliciously low in her belly. But tempted as she was, Veda didn’t lean in. Didn’t surrender. Instead, she brought her portion of the sheet higher and sat up.

“Actually,” she said, “I have to go.”

Ajax paused, then leaned up on an elbow, head in hand, biceps bulging. “You mean to the bathroom or something?”

“No. Not that.”

“Ah, you need food,” he said. “Me, too. I’ll order up. Maybe some green pepper omelets, hot-off-the-grill bacon and chocolate-chip-banana pancakes drowned in syrup. We can eat breakfast in bed.” He came near enough to brush his gorgeous stubble against her cheek. “Lunch and dinner, too, if you want.”

Ajax was never lost for words—more specifically, the right words. He gave off a vibe that confirmed that everything good fortune had to offer came to him naturally. Like he never had to even think about trying.

If only she could say the same for herself.

Years ago, and more than once, a much younger Veda had watched Ajax from afar while daydreaming about being in this exact situation. Back then, as well as now, she hated to think what her father might say. Drake Darnel had an ax or two to grind with the Rawsons, the first dating back decades to a time when Ajax’s dad, Huxley Rawson, was known as a stud.
