The characters are easy to like, the plot is thick with drama but interwoven with adorable interaction as Gabe and Sophie fall for each other alongside a gentle horse and a popularity contest. It’s always a pleasure to visit Barren, Kansas!
Gabe is sincere and kindhearted, but he’s hiding who he is and what is really going on in his life.
Sophie is sweet and a highlight of the town, but she’s been hurt in the past by lies and doesn’t take kindly to having the wool pulled over her eyes.
I recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that enjoys a small town ranch setting with an endearing group of townsfolk that always bring an emotional depth to the storyline.
