A tragic accident or something more sinister? A woman’s buried memories put her life at risk in a novel of shattering psychological suspense by New York Times bestselling author Mary Burton.

Lane McCord wakes up in a hospital having survived a near-fatal fall at a North Carolina beach cottage. Her boyfriend, Kyle, wasn’t so lucky. A senseless tragedy on their first romantic getaway. All Lane remembers is lying at the bottom of the stairs in Kyle’s pooling blood.

Confused and grieving, Lane plans to return to the cottage, collect her personal belongings, and get out. Until a winter rainstorm leaves her stranded and vulnerable, but not alone. A concerned neighbor, who claims he heard a violent argument before the accident, has come out of the storm. So has a suspicious detective on the trail of a missing woman, whose diary deepens the mystery—and raises more questions that fill Lane with dread.

How well did she know Kyle? How well does she know herself? What really happened at the cottage on the beach? And when the answers come, who can Lane trust to get out of this waking nightmare alive?

Diabolically addictive! Mary Burton is pouring on the angst like never before with a non-stop dive into the unknown that will have you following along page after page to uncover the riveting answers to all we seek to find. I was not expecting the outcome, but I was hooked!

Lane McCord is a complex character. We think we know what happened to her, but layer after layer of mystery add to questions of what happened and why. As she’s drawn into another mystery playing out behind the scenes, we wait with baited breath while two worlds collide.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a multi-faceted mystery with lots of questions to find answers to along the way.

She has secrets she prefers to keep hidden.
Too bad he’s so good at getting to the truth.

When a violent attack puts Maci Ford in the hospital, security expert Chance Patterson learns that she’s carrying his baby. Even though she ended their relationship, he’s determined to do whatever it takes to protect her and their child. But, as her stalker’s behavior escalates, Chance can’t shake the feeling that Maci is still hiding something from him…

Addictive danger and heartwarming happily ever afters! The final book in Janie Crouch’s San Antonio Security series with Harlequin Intrigue did not disappoint as it brings a romance between Chance and Maci to light and unravels secrets and mysteries galore! I loved this series as a whole and each brother brought a unique aspect to the security agency and family alike.

Chance is gruff and attention grabbing but he’s all heart when it comes to Maci. I enjoyed getting to see the softer side of him.

Maci is sassy and we’ve known there was more to her story, so it was rewarding to get to see all she’s overcome and all that keeps her strong. I adored her.

I recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that likes a little romance mixed with high octane, fast paced intrigue in a race against the clock to get to that happily ever after before danger strikes.

He wants her as he’s never wanted anyone…but he’s certain she can’t be trusted.

Merrick Knowles and Aly Garwood hate each other…and crave each other. Before they knew one another’s identities, they had a scorching one-night stand. But Merrick, the Grantham family’s protector, becomes suspicious of Aly’s true intentions when he discovers her living at the family estate.

Aly has a complicated connection to the Granthams—and she senses there’s some unfinished business at Calcott Manor. Merrick agrees to help, if only to hasten her departure. As their antagonism becomes passion and family secrets are revealed, Merrick must trust her or risk losing everything…

Heartfelt connections and an emotional conclusion! The final book in Joss Wood’s Dyanasties: Calcott Manor series is filled with sexual tension between former one night stands turned enemies Merrick and Alyson as secrets are unraveled and lives are forever changed. I really enjoyed this book and the series as a whole. So many revelations come to light in this book!

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that enjoys a tight knit family who has each other’s backs no matter what as each sibling falls for their forever love and tries to keep the family on the straight and narrow.

Ever since I tried to escape, he’s been keeping me in the dark. My bones ache with the cold. The longer I sit, trapped alone with just my thoughts, the more I worry… What if this is it? What if I never get to leave?

The sun is rising on another cold winter’s day in Coyote Cove when Chief Maggie Riley finds an unmarked envelope on the steps of the police station. Inside is a photo of a teenage girl, bound and bruised. Maggie’s heart constricts at the terror in her tear-filled eyes. Who is she? What has happened to her? Who would have left this photo, but done nothing else to help?

Maggie moved to Coyote Cove for a quieter life after her beloved young brother went missing five years ago. And this case feels as personal as anything she’s worked on since then. With no one reporting the girl missing, seemingly unloved and forgotten, Maggie vows to rescue her, and bring whoever hurt her to justice.

As Maggie mines the photograph for clues to hunt down the girl and her captor, her search takes her deep into the seedy, dangerous underbelly of the secretive logging camps. Hidden away in the woods, a law unto themselves, Maggie is in uncharted—and deadly—territory.

Then she finds the body of a girl who was said to have run away years ago, one with ties of her own to the loggers. And Maggie knows she’s on the right track. But as her search for the truth intensifies, Maggie’s own safety is threatened. Can she save an innocent girl’s life and get out alive herself, or could this be the one investigation she won’t survive…?

Filled with secrets, twists and turns to keep you guessing! The third book in the Chief Maggie Riley series picks up with a new Lieutenant being hired by Maggie as she briefly reconnects with her mother and danger lurks around the corner of a new mystery. Maggie is an addictive character, but the secrets surrounding her and her fiance Steve seem to be never ending.

Maggie is determined to get justice for the victims she comes across in her job even as demons knock on her door daily for past indiscretions and heartbreak.

Steve fessed up to some of his past, but this book brings another revelation of more to be told.

Kal is sizing up to be an interesting character all on his own as the new Lieutenant with a past he’s not talking about.

Sometimes the past we leave behind leads us right where we belong.

Talulah Barclay doesn’t like complications. Unfortunately, they seem to love her. Fourteen years after leaving her fiancé at the altar, Talulah returns to her hometown of Coyote Canyon, Montana, to settle her great-aunt’s estate. As she’d feared, her “runaway bride” reputation is waiting right where she left it, and her ex’s best friend, Brant, isn’t about to let her slip by unnoticed.

Brant has always been a loyal friend, but Talulah’s decision to run isn’t the only thing he hasn’t forgotten. He remembers more about Talulah than he cares to admit. Vividly. And it’s increasingly difficult to ignore her now, especially when they find themselves in close quarters. Talulah has no plans to stay in town after she fixes up her aunt’s Victorian farmhouse, even if the unbridled sparks with Brant give her a good reason to linger. Besides, bailing on relationships is kind of her thing. But a lot has changed since Talulah last turned tail—maybe her heart has changed, too?

Brenda Novak charms with a brand new addictive series! Coyote Canyon is a small town in Montana where scores are out to be settled as the town outcast has the nerve to show her face amongst them again and tempers flare at the same time as attraction for Talulah Barclay. The main character and her angst is highly addictive and getting to know our way around the town is quite informative. I really enjoyed Talulah and Brant and getting a little intrigue thrown in with our happily ever after on this one. I’m looking forward to more to come in the town!

I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a small town romance with history between the characters before their love connection is made. The supporting cast of town folk was very entertaining.

Is their summer to remember

about to be repeated…?

Returning to Fripp Island to care for her injured grandmother, Dr. Charlotte is stunned to be greeted by her first love, Linc. She’s never forgotten the man who broke her heart twelve summers ago. Now Linc’s her new neighbor and her grandmother’s physiotherapist. As they're reunited again, memories resurface and it’s clear their attraction hasn’t faded! But a cardiologist knows better than to risk her heart, doesn’t she?

Janice Lynn shines in this sentimental reunion of first loves! I was quickly hooked and the characters and their drama kept me turning page after page. Linc and Lottie were heartwarming and sincere and I highly enjoyed their happily ever after. The ending felt a bit week without giving us a well laid out plan of their future, but overall this was a highly entertaining read and I enjoyed it greatly!

I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a medical setting as a backdrop to your romance.

Evelisse “Evvy” Jemison has the perfect plan to escape memories of her ex and infuse more positivity in her life: return home to Magnolia Lake and run her sister’s country inn. With enough positive thinking, she might even heal her childhood wounds in the process.

Contending with the inn’s surly resident, Sebastian Valentine, isn’t part of the plan. After suffering a health scare due to overwork, Sebastian has begrudgingly returned to Magnolia Lake and brought his glass-half-empty attitude with him. Yet when a snowstorm strands Evvie with the sexy CEO, neither can deny their explosive chemistry—nor the ticking clock that will bring their idyll to an end…

Fast paced and addictive! The third book in Reese Ryan’s Valentine Vineyards series is on point with drama, angst and sexual tension as Bas comes to Magnolia Lake for an extended stay and begins a summer fling with a familiar face. We had a little less of the family biz in this book, but there were still several cameos that kept the family near the heart of the story overall. I loved Bas and Evvy!

Evelisse is a fun character. She’s tried her hand in Hollywood and is at the point of rethinking her life goals when she gets a call from her sister needing help at her inn for a bit. Evvy doesn’t shortchange herself or her accomplishments, she just doesn’t see how much she warms those around her with her dedication and warmth.

Sebastian is a classic workaholic who is getting in over his head now that he’s the name holding the family tradition around the old stomping ground and it’s getting the best of him. I loved seeing him actually relax and let himself just be.

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that loves an angsty family saga type story behind the romance that manages to find each sibling in this close-knit group.

She has a new career and a promising relationship, but will the secrets of her past ruin her hopes for the future?

No matter where she lived, Kimberly Ann Dane considered the Dane Crown Inn her home. As a child, Kim looked forward to frequent visits to the inn where she enjoyed building sand castles on Emerald Bay’s sandy beaches, learning to cook in the inn’s spacious kitchen and hunting for buried treasure with her cousins. As she grew older, she paid her way through college by working summers and school holidays at the inn. It’s no wonder that—divorced, at odds with her grown children and hoping to make a fresh start—Kim returns to the one place she’s always been welcomed with open arms. But things have changed. Kim’s cousins have scattered and face problems of their own. And the inn, which was once hailed as the “gem of Florida’s Treasure Coast,” has lost its luster. Kim has barely settled into her old room at the top of the stairs when her Aunt Margaret shocks the entire family with the news that she has decided to sell the estate that has been in the Dane family for more than fifty years. Before she does, though, Margaret asks Kim and her cousins to make one final wish come true.

While Kim and her cousins work to fulfill their aunt’s last request, they begin to rebuild the closeness they once treasured. As the women work to restore the inn to its former glory, a new career and a promising relationship with Emerald Bay’s most eligible bachelor open up a world of fresh possibilities for Kim. But when hidden secrets come to light, will her past ruin Kim’s hopes for a second chance at happiness?

The Emerald Bay Series

After a lifetime of running the finest inn in Emerald Bay, Margaret Clayton has to make a decision … sell the Dane Crown Inn to a stranger or put her hopes for the future in her family’s hands. For most people, the choice would be simple. But nothing about her family is simple … especially not with her daughter and four nieces whose help Margaret needs now more than ever.

The five cousins know the inn as well as Margaret does. As young girls and teenagers, they spent every summer keeping the cottages and suites spotless, and enjoying the gorgeous beach as a tight knit family. Thirty years later, though, these five women have complicated, important, distant, and utterly packed lives. The last thing any of them can do is drop everything and save the inn. But, when it comes to family, the last thing is sometimes the only thing.

As the once-close cousins come together on the glorious shores of Florida’s Treasure Coast, they learn that some things never change, but others can never be the same. And the only thing that matters is family which, like the Dane Crown Inn, is forever.

Heartwarming and angsty! The second book in Leigh Duncan’s Emerald Bay series continues laying the groundwork of this family coming together to support their ailing aunt/mom in remodeling endeavors with the inn near and dear to all of their hearts in hopes of holding one final family reunion bash before selling the inn.

I really like the premise of this story and the characters are all intriguing in their own right, but I really am not fond of the flow of the series at all. This book in particular ended super abruptly right in the middle of a scene making it feel cliff-hanger-like by default. I seriously felt like the file was corrupt and there should have been more attached, that’s how ill timed it was. The blurb also makes it feel like this book is centered on Kim, when in fact each cousin gets fairly equal time in the spotlight again other than Scott who isn’t present in this book at all. The flow of the story would work much more efficiently for reader comprehension if one book centered on each character as much as possible and then tied them all together in a final book centered around the reunion. I’ll probably continue reading, but I for-see more irritation in my future. This is not a stand-alone series.

The next book in the Hot in Chicago Rookies series features playboy firefighter, Sam Killian!

I might be a rookie Chicago firefighter, but I’m on top of the world. I’ve just earned my spot on Rescue Squad at legendary Engine 6, can get all the action I want both in and out of the bedroom, and am possessed of an enviable sneaker collection. Nothing can harsh my vibe except her—Cassandra Ferguson, my brother’s sister-in-law, or as I affectionately label her: the blister-in-law. Ever since I met her, she’s looked down her perky little nose at me, never mind that I’m a good foot taller. Apparently, I offended her with a few risqué jokes and an offer for a fun, no-strings night—crimes that have relegated me to lower than dirt in St. Cassandra's eyes.

These days we’re at a stalemate. Don’t get along, can’t get along. Only when tragedy strikes, we have no choice but to put our animosity aside for the sake of our hurting niece and nephew, who need us now more than ever. As co-guardians, Cassie and I are enemy combatants in an uneasy truce, flailing around in a no-man’s land of grief and lust, forced to work as a team.

Thing is, when Cassie and I team up—when we really work together—the results are explosive. In a sexy way. In an amazing way. Maybe … in every way. But with stakes this high, we can’t get it wrong.

Even though it feels so, so right.

Unputdownable angsty goodness! Kate Meader tore my heart out and slowly put it back together again with the latest book in her Hot in Chicago Rookies series and I absolutely loved every emotional minute of it! The characters are sassy and attention grabbing, the situation they find themselves in is heart wrenching, and the family they manage to forge out of scattered pieces is simply beautiful. Team Sam all the way!

I adore Sam. He’s a fun-loving guy who wears his heart on his sleeve and let’s his love and adoration be widely known as he enjoys living life to it’s fullest. When faced with turmoil and adversity, he was quick to step up and make the darkest day brighter again. I couldn’t have loved his character more.

Cass on the other hand is hard-nosed and judgmental in a way that doesn’t afford her as close of relationship as she might otherwise have with people if she went with the flow a little more. I did like her, and I enjoyed watching Sam soften the wall she wore around her heart.

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that enjoys a close knit firehouse with members who work hard, play hard and love the hardest of all.

For Sage Nilsen, coming back to her small Massachusetts hometown for a family wedding feels like high school all over again. Except Jamie Hackett has gone from charming boy next door to handsome best man. And sparks are suddenly flying between the popular guy and the so-called outcast. As the wedding gets closer, Sage finds herself on the edge of something unexpected—a second chance in the town she left behind…with the guy she’s never forgotten.

Quick to nab my heart and take me on a satisfying ride! Stefanie London delights once again with really easy to connect with characters and an emotional journey of finding love when they are least expecting it. I really loved both Sage and Jamie individually and the way their personalities melded together was really heartwarming. While on the shorter novella side, this story felt complex in it’s own way and left me very satisfied with the outcome for this couple. Highly recommend!
