A cop who survived her own murder, the man determined to stop her from solving it, and a lethal pursuit that can heal the rift between them or put them six feet under.

Left for dead at a university body farm, Seattle PD Captain Grier Callum has no idea how she survived the night someone tried to kill her. But she knows one thing: her attack is connected to a string of murders—and someone inside her own department may be helping the killer.

Missing persons agent Pete Marchum has orders to bring Grier in before she gets herself killed for good. If he succeeds, he could earn a coveted spot on the FBI's serial task force. But Grier isn't about to let anyone stop her from exposing the corruption that nearly cost her life. Especially not the academy partner who knows exactly how to get under her skin.

As bodies pile up and the killer closes in, Grier and Pete are forced into an uneasy alliance. But every clue draws them deeper into a conspiracy neither can escape—and reignites the dangerous attraction they've spent years trying to bury.

To catch a killer, they'll have to trust each other.

Because the next body won't be a random victim.

It will be theirs.

Severn is delighting her readers with quite the unexpected twist to bring her Hunting Grounds series to an end! The storyline quickly thrusts the reader back into the story where we left off and lets the danger build as we get more insight into who is behind the serial killer ring. Grier reconnects with her police academy nemesis Pete Marchum who she hasn’t seen in 15 years and is now and FBI agent when he steps in to help locate her during her abduction. Sparks fly as tension builds and they set out together to work through all of the details of every case again to figure out who is pulling the strings. Lots of danger, emotion and intrigue fill this book. It was a great ending to the series!

Single mom Patience Mather is focused on two things—her daughter and planning a Christmas festival that will contribute to the revitalization of Hard Luck, Nevada. She has no time for complications—or sparks with returned bad boy Kanon Kincaid. He’s back to claim an inheritance of half of a failing motel. He'll fix what’s broken…starting with his own reputation.

As a pastor’s daughter, Patience knows better than to fall for someone who might skip town again, and Kanon believes someone steady and safe is what Patience deserves. But in the glow of twinkling lights and holiday magic, their undeniable connection makes every choice harder. Can Christmas in Hard Luck deliver a second chance…or just heartbreak?

Novak stole my heart with this sweet and sassy holiday romance! Patience is the sweetest! She’s a hardworking mom who wants only for her child to be happy and well adjusted, and if she has to put up with angst from multiple factors in order to achieve that, she does so devoutly. I loved seeing Kanon step into her life and make it warmer instantly. Kanon is returning to town short term to claim an inheritance and ends up showing how misunderstood he was in his youth and what a kind man he really became. Their connection is heartwarming and fun and I loved seeing their story develop. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a quick holiday romance with endearing characters, a seasonal town as a fun backdrop and lots of angst to work through on the way to that happily ever after. Loved them!

A threat from the past…

Locks them in a fight for their future

Nobody suspects Montana rancher Morgan Sinclair to be anything other than what she appears: solitary horse rescuer and model citizen. But PI Durham Fields knows better. He helped her flee her notorious crime family—and her computer-hacker past. Now, nine years later, he has news: The family patriarch is dead…and her vengeful half brother is out on parole. When her brother forces her to use her hacking skills to steal a weapons cache, Durham can’t leave her to face the threat alone. But can he protect her—and his heart—at the same time?

Spot on intrigue with lots of emotional pull! The first book in Joanne Rock’s new In the Crosshairs series is action packed from start to finish. Morgan is easy to like and sympathize with and Durham is kindhearted and intriguing. The gist of the story is that she’s in hiding from her crime riddled family and when her 1/2 bro gets out of prison he’s set on revenge and begins tracking her. Durham gave her a chance years ago to get away and move past her upbringing, and when he learns there is danger headed her way, he has a message to deliver to keep her safe. There’s attraction from the beginning and both are interesting characters, but no real relationship development because the goings ons with her fam was taking center stage. There’s a lot of emotion riddled throughout the book that makes it easy to sink your teeth into. I’m looking forward to more to come to see what happens with her sisters. I liked them, and they were believable to begin dating, but the real gem of the story was the mystery and danger.
