The characters have a rich back story, the setting is exciting and the taboo attraction between them is powerfully compelling. Really enjoyed the story and look forward to more in the series!

Andi Hardt is thrown for a loop when the house that she’s spending the night in is raided and she seems to be in the cross-hairs of suspicion just for being there. She gave up the rat race of corporate life a year ago and put all of her hopes and dreams … not to mention her capital! … into opening the Dog Park Cafe. She happily spends her days serving people’s needs and pampering their pooches at the same time. She doesn’t know what this cop guy’s problem is, but she’s about done putting up with his attitude!

Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Nick Houston is determined to bring this massive gunrunner to justice, and the fact that Andi is somehow involved in it is giving him someone to concentrate his fury on. There’s something about her that really catches his attention, but she’s knee deep in the middle of this investigation that holds a personal place of importance in his heart. He can’t admit that he’s attracted to her … and he certainly can’t act on it!

Owen felt his mouth curve into a grin as he heard the familiar clap, clap, clap behind him.

That was one of his favorite sounds—high heels on the wooden dock of the Boys of the Bayou swamp boat tour company.

He took his time turning and once he did, he started at the shoes.

They were black and showed off bright red toenails. The straps wrapped sexily around trim ankles and led the eye right up to smooth, toned calves. The heels matched the black polka dots on the white skirt that thankfully didn’t start until mid-thigh, and showed off more tanned skin.

He straightened from his kneeling position in one of the boats as his eyes kept moving up past the skirt to the bright red belt that accentuated a narrow waist and then to the silky black tank that molded to a pair of perfect breasts.

He was fully anticipating her lips being bright red to go with that belt and her toenail polish. God, he loved red lipstick. And high heels. In any color.

But before he could get to those lips, she used them, to say, “Oh, dammit, it’s you.”

Owen’s gaze bypassed her mouth to fly to her eyes. Because he’d know that voice anywhere.

Madison Allain was home.

A day early.

Not that an extra day would have helped him prepare. He’d been thinking about her visit for a week and was still as wound tight about it as he’d been when Sawyer, his business partner and cousin, had told him that she was coming home. For a month.

Owen stood just watching her, fighting back all of the first words that he was tempted to say.

Like, “Damn, you’re even more gorgeous than the last time I saw you.”

Or, “I haven’t put anyone in the hospital lately.”

Or, “I’ve missed you so fucking much.”

Just for instance.

She blew out a breath and now he did focus on her lips.

Yep, red. Terrific. That wasn’t going to make ignoring them any easier.

“I was hoping you were Sawyer,” she said, propping a hand on her hip.

Owen tossed the wrench he held into the toolbox at his feet. “Nope. Sorry.” So she wasn’t happy to see him. Big shocker. He hadn’t always been the perfect Southern gentleman around Maddie, that was for sure.

He wiped his hands on his jeans. Okay, he was supposed to be niceto her. That meant treating her like she was one of the tourists who frequented this dock. Polite. Friendly, but not I’ve-known-you-my-whole-life-and-kissed-you-a-whole-bunch friendly. Just mildly hey-how’s-it-goin’ friendly. So that she didn’t sell off her portion of the business that not only fed him and his other two partners, but that was their pride and joy. And the only thing he was really good at.

Nice. Polite. A little friendly—but not too much. He could do that.

Annoyed that within thirty seconds of seeing her again he was already thinking about kissing her, he kicked the toolbox, trying to slide it into the nook under the bow of the boat. Of course, he kicked it too hard and it tipped, spilling tools over the floor of the boat with loud clangs of metal against metal.

He shoved a hand through his hair. That was typical. Everything was an overreaction when it came to how he acted around Maddie. Even the little stuff. Certainly the big stuff. Always had been.

“Sawyer’s over at Ellie’s.” Owen pulled himself up out of the boat and onto the dock.

That took him about two feet closer to her and he instantly became aware that he wasn’t wearing a shirt. Very aware as Maddie’s eyes tracked over his shoulders, chest and abs.

The heat that arrowed through him was unwelcome. Though not unexpected. There had always been this crazy chemistry between them. Key word: crazy.

“Come on, Jonah. You and I are just friends, and my living with you would only be temporary. I’m neat and fairly low-maintenance, and I really can cook like a boss. I know you like your space.” It was a euphemism, and if the smile poking at the corners of her lips was anything to go by, Natalie knew it as well as Jonah did. He was a freaking island, and it wasn’t by accident. “So I can totally stay out of your hair if you want me to. But please.” In a blink, her smile disappeared. “I’m begging you. Don’t make me stay with my parents.”

Jonah’s nice-guy propensity came out of hiding to pick a fight with his defenses, both of them quickening his pulse. His defenses didn’t fight fair, though, reminding him that he had damn good reasons for not being a long-haul guy.

He opened his mouth to say he was sorry. To tell Natalie, rationally and with good reason, why he just couldn’t let her move in with him for six weeks.

Jonah knew from experience that she loved both, and with Christmas only a month away, she’d certainly want to mainline them whenever she had down time. But while happily ever after might be on some people’s agendas—and more power to them as long as they didn’t try to convert him to coupledom—he sure as hell wasn’t going to let it parade across his big screen TV.

“Come on! Not even It’s a Wonderful Life?” she asked, but he stood firm.

“The only Christmas movie that flies in my apartment is Diehard.”

Her hands moved to her hips. “That is so not a Christmas movie.”

“Take it or leave it, Kendrick. Yippie-ki-yay is all the holiday cheer you’re going to get out of me.”

Natalie frowned, but didn’t push her luck, so Jonah continued. “I’ll take that you cook, I clean bargain. I don’t mind doing all the dishes, and I wasn’t kidding when I said I can’t cook. No complaining about football or hockey—the Rogues are kicking ass again this year on the ice and I want to watch every game that I can. And for the love of all that it sacred and good, no bras on the shower curtain rod.”

“Done.”

His surprise must have stumbled over his face, because she laughed and tacked on, “What? You know I love hockey, too, and after meeting Finn Donnelly over the summer at that fundraiser at The Crooked Angel? I’m all-in for the Rogues. I promised you I’d cook, and the other stuff”—she lifted one shoulder beneath her light pink sweater—“I can stipulate, even if it is kind of grinchy. So, do we have a deal? I can come live with you until this mess is all fixed?”

Jonah exhaled. “Yes, we have a deal.

With the next book in the Match Made in Haven series we get to return to small town Haven, Nevada to watch a couple finagle their way through an arranged marriage with real feelings starting to flare. The characters are easy to like, the babies are adorable and the story line is sweetly fulfilling. I enjoyed them all and look forward to more in the series!

When Regan Channing finds herself pregnant with a man who wants nothing more to do with her or her child, she things it’s going to be a long road of doing it all alone. When she’s offered a saving grace by a sexy deputy, she can’t see any reason not to jump at the chance.

An exciting reunion kicks off the latest in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Houston series. My attention was caught from page one and it held my interest throughout. The characters were well-developed and watching their story play out was quite enjoyable. Looking forward to more in the series!

Vivianne Donner awakens in the hospital after a car accident to find the man she never expected to see again at her side. Turns out she forgot she put him down as her emergency contact so he’d be able to take care of the precious cargo she never told him about!

Camden McNeal has no clue why Viv had him on her contact information, but once she wakes up and is forced to tell him about their two year old daughter, it all becomes clear. She might not have planned to ever tell him about his child unless tragedy struck, but now that he knows about her, he’s not going away without a fight!
