Fast paced and action packed! A mystery is solved amidst mounting drama and danger! If you’ve been following along with the Blue River Ranch series, you’ll recognize several of the key players from the underlying crime that’s been carrying forward in each book. With this one, we finally get some justice and some answers to it all. The action of this particular story starts off early in the book and the intrigue carries forward throughout. I liked the characters and the premise of the plot, but did feel there were a few holes left unfilled. Overall a solid mystery and an entertaining read.

Two years ago, the woman Texas Ranger Jameson Beckett was having an affair with disappeared without a trace after betraying him. He searched for her for months, but she simply vanished into thin air and was presumed dead. Getting a call to an active crime scene in no way prepares Jameson to see Kelly again, injured, scared, not remembering even her own name … and carrying a note demanding she kill him.

Private Investigator Kelly Stockwell can’t tell Jameson why she left or where she’s been because she simply doesn’t remember, but news of her being found brings people scurrying to the police station from all sides with their own version of stories to tell. Kelly starts to have a small snippet of a memory here and there, but she truly has no clue to most of the things these people are saying, and when the most shocking piece of news yet comes to light, she’s not sure Jameson will ever be able to forgive her for keeping their daughter from him!

Enchantingly raw! A story of mix-matched lifestyles being forced to mesh together when matters of the heart become involved. If you read the earlier books in Raine’s Doms of her Life series, you’ll recognize Beck and Seth as good friends of Macen, Raine and Liam. They both played pivotal parts in that earlier story line and you’ll already understand their lifestyle greatly from reading those. If you didn’t, you’ll still be able to pick up what’s going on without much trouble, but I don’t think I’d have enjoyed the nuance of having them compete over a woman as much if I hadn’t met them earlier. The main characters catch our attention quickly and the story line is laid out well to keep us entertained. There are parts where it drags a bit, and my least favorite part of the book was the fact that it goes back and forth in time. I really would have enjoyed it more if it has just gone chronologically along instead of flipping back and forth. There are also some plot holes from the past that are left blank, but I’m assuming those are going to become known to us in the future books. Overall, I really enjoyed the players in this story and was invested until the end in seeing a happy ending. Looking forward to more to come!

Raine’s big brother shoved a glass of thick red vino in her hand. “So, did you find someone to fuck your brains out?”
She recoiled. If she gave him an equally blunt answer, would he stop this mortifying inquisition?
“Yes. It was easy.” Heavenly punctuated her lie with a bright smile.
River glowered. “Tell me Beck or Seth finally manned up.”
“He’s someone you don’t know.”

They walked down the hall to the sunroom and went out that way through sliding glass doors to a trim lawn and garden bursting with summer flowers. It was hot, but they edged onto a shaded, paved walkway, suitable for canes, walkers and wheelchairs. Gabe noticed his grandfather moved well, if more slowly than just a year ago. “How was California?” he asked.

“Sunny,” Gabe said with a grin.

“You moving out there?”

“I toyed with the idea of relocating there.”

They passed through pine-scented shade. “You could move me out with you. Sun shines all the time. I don’t mind assisted living, but I knew every old lady in this place when we were kids. One more reminds me I wet my pants in first grade and I’m packing up and living in my car.”

Gabe grinned at the old man. “Mark says you have a crush on Daisy Farrell.”

“Wouldn’t do me any good if I did. Daisy was and always will be Tom Farrell’s gal.”

Gabe remembered Tom Farrell, a longtime Knights Bridge fire chief who’d died a couple of years ago. “At least you have friends here.”

“A few old cranks, too, but not many. I’m not as hard on people as I was as a younger man. Getting old isn’t for the faint-hearted, that’s for sure. Thought I’d be in an urn by now.”

Gabe wasn’t surprised by his grandfather’s blunt manner, but he hadn’t had a dose of it in a while. “Instead you’re here talking to me. Imagine that.”

“Yeah. My hotshot grandson.” He slowed his pace, then paused by a patch of daisies. “You’re going to be an uncle. That change things for you?”

“It’s a factor.”

His grandfather peered at him. “A factor? It’s not like you’re buying a used car and its mileage is a ‘factor.’”

“Well, it would be,” Gabe said lightly. “I didn’t get much sleep last night. Cut me some slack.”

“Ha. You stayed with Felicity MacGregor.” He waved a hand. “Not asking.”

“I sat out by the fire in your old fireplace. Alone.”

His grandfather raised an eyebrow, skeptical.

Gabe grinned. “Mostly alone, but it’s not what you think.” Time to change the subject. “I should stop and see Dad on the way out of town.”

“He’s on his way here. He got wind of a Jane Austen tea party this afternoon and wants to talk me into dressing up as a Regency guy. He doesn’t fit into any of the tights or I swear he’d do it. Say what you will about your father, he’s game for anything.”

“Do you fit into the tights?” Gabe asked, amused.

“It doesn’t matter. I’d never get them off and I’m not asking one of the aides to help me.”

“The sight of you in tights would get all the old ladies excited.”

“The sight of you in tights would.”

Gabe let that comment slide past him. They resumed their walk, the path looping past empty birdfeeders, ready to be filled for winter, back toward the sunroom.

Our patience paid off! I’ve been waiting for Sahara and Brand’s story ever since the first moment we saw the steamy chemistry pouring off of them when they were in the same vicinity … and it did NOT disappoint! Captivating, action-packed and riddled with some oh-so-decadent sexual tension! The only sad thing about this book is the fact that it’s the last in the series. If you haven’t read a book in the Body Armor series yet, change that … STAT! The entire series has been great. Every book has been filled with a great cast of friends/turned co-workers who each meet the love of their life that helps grow their little family of friends bigger and bigger each time. This book was no different. We knew Sahara well going in since she’s the boss and has played a pivotal role in each prior book, so seeing her get the ending she so desperately deserved was an ideal ending to the series. I’m going to miss these guys!

Sahara Silver has been building the business that her presumed dead brother left for her ever since he disappeared. She loves the guys she works with at Body Armor like extended family, but she’d give it all up in a heartbeat if it would bring her brother back! When danger comes knocking in the form of some bad guys who think she knows something about her brother, she’s going to need all the help she can get!

MMA fighter Brand Berry has been putting Sahara off for months now. She wants him to join the company as another of her fighter/turned bodyguards, but you can cut the sexual tension with a knife when they are in the same room together, and he doesn’t think things would work out as a boss/employee relationship. All plans change when he learns that Sahara has been kidnapped though! He’ll do anything in his power to save her … no matter the cost!

The characters are really fun and just downright easy to like and relate to. The story line, while a little cliche of bad boy meets good girl and lives happily ever after, is super sweet and undeniably entertaining! I only wish there were a couple more brothers so we’d be able to keep being BAD!

Security expert Brett Bad doesn’t do relationships, but he sure does have a way with the ladies. He’s not one to invite you back more than once, but if a night to end all nights is what you’re looking for, he’s your guy! Only problem is, he hasn’t been interested for a few months now. Ever since he laid eyes one of his brother’s employees, he hasn’t been able to get her out of his mind. It’s really cutting down on his fun, so one way or another, he’s going to have to sweet talk Sophie into having one wicked night with him!

Legal assistant Sophie Roberts adores her job with Mick, and thinks his family is the best. She finds it hard to breath when Brett is up close and personal and flirting with her like crazy though. Heartwarming, sinful and downright decadent! Carly Phillips has hit another one out of the park with the first book in her new Rosewood Bay series! I was drawn in immediately to the sexy mechanic’s life, then once he and Halley crossed paths, the attraction and pull between them was flaring quickly. The characters both have a boatload of history and issues that weigh on them heavily, but they find that time together is refreshing and even healing as they let their guard down and let the other in. Great kick-off to the series with a complex back story bringing intrigue and compassion alive in our mind quickly. A nice foundation of characters, each with a story of their own just waiting to be told. Looking forward to more to come in the series!

Halley freshened up in the restroom. She washed her hands and swept a fresh coat of gloss over her lips, realizing this was the first time she’d willingly gone out without reservation. Kane had asked and she’d said yes. Easy as that.

She was changing, letting her mother into her life… letting Kane in. As much as trusting made her nervous, she had to admit she felt lighter and freer without that constant shadow of worry sitting on her shoulder. Phoebe had said to expand her horizons, and somehow, without planning to, she’d done just that. Maybe her sister didn’t approve of all the ways in which she was reaching out, but Kane was right. Halley had to live life for herself.

And right now she had a sexy man waiting to take her home and to bed. Life was good, and when was the last time she’d actually had a positive thought like that going through her head?

She dropped her gloss into her purse and rushed back out to Kane, stopping short when she walked out of the restroom and saw he wasn’t alone at the table.

Liza had shoved herself into his side of the booth, her ample and probably fake cleavage exposed above the V neck of her tight dress. She swallowed back the bite of jealousy, reminding herself that Kane, who was leaning back and away from her touch, didn’t want to be with her, despite the fact that she obviously wasn’t taking no for an answer.

Halley hadn’t done confrontation with mean girls since foster care. Even in high school, she’d ignored the jibes about her being unwanted and unloved and turned into herself rather than argue or fight back.

But this was Kane and he was hers, and the more Halley watched, the angrier she got. She strode over to the table and glared at Liza.

“Did you not see the second champagne glass? Or do you just not care that he’s not interested in you?” she asked Liza point-blank.

She didn’t see the point in beating around the bush when the other woman was the type to deliberately ignore signals.

“Oh, I’m sorry. Was that you he couldn’t wait to get rid of?” Liza asked in a catty voice.

“Oh, for the love of God. Go away, Liza. He’s mine.”

She huffed and slid out of the booth. “I’ll come back when she’s not around,” Liza muttered and strutted away, her ass swinging as she walked.

Halley rolled her eyes. “Is she dense or what?”

“I’m yours?” Kane asked, pushing himself out of the booth and standing beside her.

She blushed a healthy shade of red, she was sure because her face was on fire. “Can we go now?”

She pivoted but he grasped her hand and turned her back. “Not until I hear you say it to me.”

“Kane—”

He cupped her face in his hand. “If it’s true, it shouldn’t be so difficult to say.”

He leaned down, his face inches from hers, the scent of his aftershave making her weak. She wondered if the rest of the restaurant was watching, but she couldn’t bring herself to look away from his handsome visage or to care if they’d become a spectacle. “You’re mine,” she whispered.

His face lit up with pleasure.

She’s willing to play the part, but when the stakes are raised, will she be able to live up to his expectations?

Vieri Romano might agree to let Harper fill in for her sister in the pretend fiancee deal that they had made on his trip to Sicily, but it doesn’t take him long to figure out that they are nothing alike. It’s clear he has gotten the better end of the bargain when he begins to see what a genuine soul she truly is, but when consequences come out of their time spent together, will he mistake her intentions or be patient enough to see her goodness through it all?

Delectably enticing! From the first page, we are thrust into the middle of a complex crime and taken for a ride throughout New York, various crime scenes, various law enforcement agencies and multiple possible scenarios! The basis of the plot is good, but there are so many secondary characters brought into the mix that it dilutes the plot a lot. The main couple are intriguing, but spend the majority of the story chasing leads without showing their connection a great deal. Perhaps it was shown stronger earlier in the series, as this is the third book surrounding this family, but only the first that I’m reading. For me, it had promise, but was missing some substance. An okay read.

To say that she’s a magnet for trouble might be putting it mildly as Kieran Finnegan finds herself once again thrust smack dab in the middle of a crime! She truly was just minding her own business wrapping up a normal day of business as a criminal psychologist when a woman approaches her by name and thrusts a baby into her arms. Attempting to catch up with her as she flees down the street, Keiran is shocked to see that she has been murdered practically in front of her!

With a heartfelt connection to this innocent baby, she sets out to try to find out what in the world is going on in this city and brings in her boyfriend, FBI Special Agent Craig Frasier to help her out. He agrees something is fishy and goes about investigating … but attempting to keep Kieran safely on the sidelines doesn’t work out that well.
