Can't stop running from the past

Dani Crawford has a secret…and if bounty hunter Jackson Cade finds out, he could ruin everything. The scarred yet handsome cowboy has tracked a dangerous criminal to the dude ranch Dani manages, and to get rid of Jack she'll have to help him catch his man. But the closer they get to cornering their quarry the more Dani wants Jack to stay. Spending time with him is making her long for things she can never have thanks to a past mistake. And if the truth comes out she may be spending her future behind bars rather than safe in her cowboy's arms…

With her upcoming Harlequin Heartwarming novel, Karen Rock is taking a delve into suspense … and you are going to love it!  Not only do we get to enjoy the typical sexy hero she always delivers who makes a sweet love connection with the gal he sets his sights on, but we also get to try to solve the mystery right alongside them as they throw themselves into catching a fugitive before he gets away!  I really enjoyed the characters, and as this book sets up an upcoming series about Jack’s family, I look forward to seeing future mentions of them in the books to come!

Dani Crawford felt like she found her home away from home when she found her job at the Mountain Sky Ranch just when she needed it most.  She’s enjoyed her time there and is stepping up to even more responsibility when a possible problem arises that could expose the secret she’s been hiding and jeopardize her future!

Bounty hunter Jackson Cade has tracked a wanted man to the dude ranch and needs access to try to catch him.  Dani wants him gone as soon as possible, so she sets out to help him find his guy before her past catches up with her and it’s her that he takes in!  When they both start to long for a future they know they can’t allow themselves, will matters of the heart have them rethinking their plans?

  1. Thanks so much for this lovely five star review, Lynn!!! Wow. It’s my first for this book and my first ever for a suspense novel. I’m also so grateful to be on Thoughts of a Blonde, one of my all time favorite romance blogs and a must stop for all readers of romance 🙂 xo

    • Thanks so much for letting me be one of the first to enjoy it Karen! I can’t wait for the new series to kick off to get to meet more of Jack’s family. Really enjoyed him! 🙂

      • Yay! Next up is James Cade’s love story- he’s determined to close himself, his family and his ranch away from the world and outsiders after Jesse’s murder… and then Jesse’s ex shows up with a five-year-old nephew no one knew about and everything changes- especially his heart 🙂 It’s a Christmas love story, too, and will be out in November 2017- A COWBOY’S WAY (tentative title)- under the series ROCKY MOUNTAIN COWBOYS.

        • Christmas, surprise kiddo, lots of cowboys … what more could we ask for?! I’m excited to meet James and the rest of the gang after hearing so much about them in Jack’s story. 🙂

    A League of Her Own

  3. A League of Her Own is one that comes to mind 😉

  4. Patricia Pinkston says

Karen is a new author for me, but I’m looking forward to reading this.

  5. Under an Adirondack Sky, one of my favorites. Thanks for this generous chance.

    • One of my favorites as well Linda!

    • I loved the setting for this one because it was in my own backyard 🙂 I live in the Adirondacks and creating a love story in such an idyllic place was a dream come true. Plus the teenagers in the novel were drawn on real kids I worked with when I was a teacher.

  6. Connie Lee says

I haven’t read any of her books yet, but I would like to start with ” A Cowboy to Keep”, sounds like a book I would love to read!

    • It’s a great one to start with Connie! 🙂

    • Hi, Connie! A Cowboy to Keep is a great one to start out with since it is the prequel to my Rocky Mountain Cowboys series that will chronicle the lives and loves of the fierce, proud, independent cowboys in the feuding, neighboring families- the Lovelands and the Cades- they work hard, play harder and love forever 🙂

  7. Kay Garrett says

Now I can’t wait to read it sure enough!

    • Thanks for stopping by Kay!

    • That’s great to hear, Kay 🙂 Thanks! I loved writing this western romantic suspense as the lead into the Rocky Mountain Cowboys series. I’m also thinking of doing a western historical novella to show what actually starts the feud between the two families in this series- the Cades and the Lovelands.

  8. I love all the books the Rock woman write, Can not wait for this cowboy series. Big hugs congrats Karen. I know I am going to love it.

  9. His Hometown Girl 🙂

    • I need to read that one Gaby! I didn’t pick up the Heartwarming line from the very beginning, so I’m still playing catch up myself on some of these. It’s already on my TBR pile, just have to find time to get there. 🙂

    • Thanks for that, Gaby! His Hometown Girl takes place across Lake Champlain from me- in Vermont. I loved that rural countryside and an autistic child as a main character meant a lot as my niece is autistic and we don’t see these beautiful angels enough in books 🙂

  10. Love reading Karen rock whether it’s these sweet romances or hot ones like Blaze

    • I agree! I’m loving her Coast Guard hotties in the Blaze series! Not too much longer to have to wait until Dylan’s story is here in April. YAY! 🙂

    • Awwww! Thanks so much. It’s fun to mix it up and have spicy and sweet books out in the same year. Dylan, the Coast Guard hero in my next Blaze (HIS TO PROTECT in April) is such a great leading man- tough, cocky, funny and so so gorgeous. He definitely brings the heat!

  11. I have it coming in the mail already – thanks!

  12. Congratulations!

  13. I really liked Raising the Stakes.

    • Another that is on my TBR pile! 🙂

    • Button was such a fun character to write 🙂 I’ve never had an animal as one of the main characters and giving the baby bear her own personality- her likes and dislikes- her favorite toys and need to cuddle and have human interaction, despite what the wildlife experts were advising- was so fun to create. The ending I gave her really choked me up in a good way 🙂

  14. MomIsReading says

I’ve never read a book by Karen. I’ll have to check them out!

  15. Hi Karen

I do love a bit of suspense with my romance and this one sounds fab woohoo 🙂

    Have Fun
    Helen

    • Thanks for stopping by Helen! 🙂

    • Hi, Helen! Thanks so much 🙂 It’s my first suspense which meant I wrote it three times ( not even exaggerating a little here!) and it was tons of hard work to get it just right- enough thrills and swoons- and I’m so glad to hear positive feedback <3

  16. Janie Evans says
