There's nothing Truman Gritt won't do to protect his family—Including spending years in jail for a crime he didn't commit. When he's finally released, the life he knew is turned upside down by his mother's overdose, and Truman steps in to raise the children she's left behind. Truman's hard, he's secretive, and he's trying to save a brother who's even more broken than he is. He's never needed help in his life, and when beautiful Gemma Wright tries to step in, he's less than accepting. But Gemma has a way of slithering into people's lives and eventually she pierces through his ironclad heart. When Truman's dark past collides with his future, his loyalties will be tested, and he'll be faced with his toughest decision yet.

An emotional story of love in many forms that will tug at your heart strings time and again! In proof that Melissa Foster’s stories can be read as stand-alones, TRU BLUE has been on my TBR pile since it was released several years ago but book after book in the series released that I read before going back to this first one. I finally told myself I had to get Truman in before his brother Quincy’s story is released, and I fell in love with the characters all over again by going back to this first book in The Whiskeys series. It’s emotional, loving and so touching.

Truman stole this reader’s heart as soon as the ordeal he has lived through all of his life begins to unravel. We learn of his family disfunction, the crime he went to jail for that he didn’t commit, and why the secrets he holds close to his heart mean so much to him.

Gemma is a sweetheart and won my approval as soon as she reaches out to help this clueless guy with two babies in his care. She’s lived a totally different life than Tru, but she sees him like no one else ever has.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes their heart to be wrenched a bit while working their way towards that happily ever after in a romance.
