When an agent teams up with a local sheriff,

she doesn’t realize his secret could endanger their lives…

With Homeland Security on high alert, Rylee Hockings heads into the field to thwart a foreign threat. But local county sheriff Axel Trace doesn’t want the newbie federal agent treading on his turf. As he learns to accept her help, the stakes rise as he realizes he’ll have to reveal a secret that could jeopardize her case—and cost them their lives.

Exciting from start to finish! WARNING SHOT is book three in Jenna Kernan’s Protectors at Heart series and revolves around a Homeland Security agent and a local sheriff in a bit of a twist on an enemies to lovers story.

Federal agent Rylee tries to come off as being in charge and all knowing, but she doesn’t play a believable character. Instead, she’s annoying in her holier than thou attitude of always thinking her way is the right way no matter what kind of dangerous situation she might cause by charging in on her own. I found her hard to connect to.

Sheriff Axel on the other hand was very easy to relate to and a character that it’s a pleasure to get to know. He likes to keep peace in his neck of the woods but he knows not to burn his bridges with different entities who he might need to make nice with in certain situations.

I recommend this book to anyone loving a book with intrigue continuing from beginning to end and who enjoys a lot of action with their romance.
