My favorite color is …

Is blonde a color? I would like to go with blonde, because you’re so sweet and generous with your support of authors!

I could say black, because we have two wonderful black Labs, Harley and Logan, but having been a painter and art instructor while I was going through university, I know that black is not a color. In fact, it’s the absence of all color!

So, I’ll go with turquoise . . . as in a nice tropical-ocean turquoise!

My favorite place to read is …

I can’t think of a place I don’t like to read, and I’m never without a book. Since I don’t (by choice) have a lot of down time, one thing I do like to indulge in is an hour-long bubble bath, with a glass of chilled Chardonnay and a terrific book!

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to sink into this tub filled with bubbles, and be absorbed in a great book?

My favorite snack is …

I love almost anything with chocolate in it! One of my favorite snacks is a KitKat bar, especially with a cup of tea.

My favorite type of music is …

I defer to my husband in this regard, as he loves music and is a very talented singer. My taste in music tends to be eclectic, but right now some of my favorite songs are by Thomas Rhett.

My favorite hot beverage is …

It’s tea, with sugar and milk, but I must have cup of coffee first thing in the morning!

I have to mention that this beautiful, personalized mug was gifted to me by the lovely, talented and prolific author, Loree Lough!

My favorite type of flower is …

This one is easy. The beautiful ones my husband regularly spoils me with me!

My favorite time of day is …

I love early mornings, and especially watching the sun rise. I find I’m most productive then, too.

I can also go for a beautiful sunset, though!

My favorite candy is …

Hmmm . . . I don’t eat candy. Can I default to chocolate? Then for consistency, I’ll go with KitKat bars again!

My favorite hobby is …

I love painting, although I don’t take as much time for it any more as I would like to.

I suppose I could have used this picture to answer the favorite-flower question, too! 🙂

I also enjoy gardening.

My favorite place to vacation is …

We love visiting the Caribbean. Most of the islands are an easy, direct flight for us from Toronto. Our favorite island is St. Lucia. It’s scenic, lush and—most importantly—the people are wonderful.

We are fortunate to have spent a lot of time in the Caribbean, and we’ve discovered a wonderful resort called Calabash Cove. It’s been named one of the top ten boutique resort in the world and justifiably so!

Security Specialist Nikki Payne is really irritated that her overly protective brothers refuse to let her do the job in the family business that she wants to do. She doesn’t need them holding her back and she really resents being treated like a weakling! When Lars comes on the scene and she realizes he’s being secretive about something, she sets out to see what’s going on. Will they be able to get to his sister before the whole situation blows up?

Loved this book! There was just something about the simple, raw connection between these two characters that really got to me. He was lonely and needing comfort, she was distancing herself from those she loved most and hanging adrift … but together they felt right. It’s majorly steamy, fun with a side of sass, and a pleasure to read!

Regan Malloy grew up in a family where cracking safes and picking locks was just something you learned. She didn’t set out to live the life that her family did, but when faced with a friend in need, she agrees to do just one job .. and gets caught. Now freshly out of prison, she is trying to start over and get her life on track for the future that she wants … if only she didn’t keep lusting after the detective that put her away!

Detective Nathan Carter didn’t forget Regan after she was locked up … in fact, she was a regular visitor to his nightly fantasies! His life is adrift right now, and he finds himself seeking her out … outside the prison when she’s released, in hotel bars, in her bed. They agree to just get each other out of their systems … sexy only … but as they spend more and more time together, they actually like each other. It’s crazy! The cop and the bad girl … it can’t possibly work … can it?

For as long as I can remember, I have been lost in a book. During my senior year in college, I picked up a Danielle Steel novel … and instantly was hooked on romance.

I started writing my first novel, No One to Hold, because the characters were screaming at me to do so. The story started coming out in my dreams and attacking me in the shower, so I took to the computer to shut them up. But they kept talking.

Born and raised in New Jersey, I have what some may call a “checkered past.” Prior to discovering my passion for writing romance, I practiced law, was a wedding and event planner and even dabbled in marketing. EXCERPT:

The sunlight caught like spun gold in the wavy strands of her hair. He liked that her face was makeup free, but mostly he liked that she didn’t need a mask to feel confident. Not that he ever planned to date Brooke, but he’d dated a lot of women who’d refused to leave the house until their makeup had been perfectly applied and every hair was in place.

In his mind, all that preparation took away an opportunity for spontaneity. With his busy schedule, sometimes that’s all he could manage—a last minute invite. Brooke had so much sexy going on she didn’t need all that stuff. And today she’d pretty much proved that she was game for the whole spur-of-the-moment thing. Impressive.

“How many business lunches and dinners have I sat through with you, Mr. Kincade?”

He shrugged. “Too many to count.”

“Bingo.” She pointed. “And do you know what you order almost each and every time?”

“No.”

“Seared ahi.”

“And the problem with that is?”

“Boring.”

“I like ahi.”

“Good for you. But why not expand your horizons? Eating the same old same old every day is like having missionary sex every time the mood strikes.”

And why did she need to bring that up? Because his imagination definitely didn’t need a push in that direction.

“Shake things up.” She waved her hands upward like she was about to take flight. “Be daring. Live a little.”

Damn she was animated. How the hell did someone get like that?

“I’m happy with things the way they are.”

“Are you really?” As she leaned into the table, the unyielding fabric of that tight white tank top across her breasts dominated his attention.

He didn’t respond.

Couldn’t.

He was too . . . distracted.

“You know what they say; all work and no play . . .” she said with a shrug, leaving the remainder of that statement hanging like a noose.

“So you’re saying that eating fish tacos is suddenly going to shake things up in my life?”

“Breaking your same old song and dance routine will. After you’ve opened up the door, anything can happen. Aren’t you the least bit curious?”

The server interrupted them to deliver a large plate of steaming soft tacos, bowls of salsa and sour cream, and two giant froufrou drinks with slices of pineapple and maraschino cherries speared by pink umbrellas.

Oh hell no.

He was not going to drink something that would immediately revoke his man card. But when Brooke plucked the cherry from her glass, dangled it in the air, and captured it with her tongue, he had second thoughts. By the time she settled the bright pink straw between the soft cushion of her lips and sucked the orange frothy drink into her mouth, he figured he’d be game for just about any damn thing. As long as he could watch her do that all day long.

EXCERPT:

She stared at him fixedly until she saw the corner of his mouth twitch just slightly.

“I knew it! You’re bluffing!”

“Never.” He was obviously still trying to hold onto his composure, but his eyes were brimming with humor, and he was having trouble hiding a smile.

“Cheater!” Bursting into laughter, she tackled him, playfully pushing him down so he was lying on his back on the floor. “You’re cheating, and you know it, so you have to forfeit the game.”

She realized her mistake when Jace’s hard, lean body started to rub against hers. Her heart began to race with excitement as her breath quickened and shivers of excitement ran up and down her spine.

His hand slowly slid down her back until he was cupping her hips, almost—almost—touching her bottom. “I’ll never forfeit. I’ll go to my death declaring that Zoroastrian is a perfectly legitimate Scrabble word.”

Despite his light tone, his expression had changed again. His eyes were hot. So hot. As hot as she felt.

She couldn’t stop herself from rubbing against him again, and she suddenly realized how tense his body was.

Tense. And tight. And hard.

So hard.

All of him hard.

He shifted beneath her weight, and every little move he made against her fired all of her sensitized nerve endings.

She wanted him to roll over on top of her. Sink into her completely.

She wanted him to bury himself in her and never come out.

Jace closed his eyes and took a slightly shaky breath, and she knew now why that was.

He was aroused beneath her. She could feel it very starkly when she rubbed her pelvis against his.

She made a breathless noise at the realization, and she trailed her hand down his chest to his belly.

Jace jerked in what looked like surprised pleasure.

“Jace?” she whispered, her hand grazing down even further.

It felt like there was some sort of magnetic force drawing her hand down toward the bulge of his erection. He was sweating a little—she could see it—and his breath was blowing in and out in short huffs.

He grunted, not really forming a complete word.

Isabella’s hand had reached his belt, and she idly played with the supple leather. Maybe it was the wine. Or maybe she’d been holding back for too long.

But she heard herself saying, “I know that we’re just friends, and that we said that kiss didn’t mean anything. I know touching like this is really against the rules.”

Her hand slipped down even lower, brushing against the bulge at the front of his trousers. Jace let out a soft strangled sound in response, as if he were desperately trying to hold himself back.

The knowledge was all she needed to know.

He wanted this just as much as she did.

“But I was wondering,” Isabella continued, lifting her upper body so she could look down on his strained face, “if maybe we could break that rule… a little.”
