A sweetheart of a story! With the second book in The Fortunes of Texas: The Hotel Fortune series Helen Lacey delights her readers with a single mom meets rugged stranger story in THEIR SECOND-TIME VALENTINE. The characters were super easy to like, the back story was intriguing and the sweet connection between them made the book hard to put down. Loved it!

Layla is a determined, hard working single mom. She’s not looking for love, but it strikes when she least expects it, and she doesn’t know what to do.

Kane is a gentle soul. He knows Layla isn’t over her late husband, but he’s got a heart kind enough to be patient and just love her. Loved how little Erin adored him!

I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who loves a small-town feel with close-knit families and friends as a mystery flits through the background of the connected series.

Desmond seems to let the task he has in mind slide right out of the window when Nicole enters his realm. He’s determined to make things right … especially if what they suspect turns out to be true. He just never expected the fireworks that happen when she’s near.

I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who loves a bit of mystery mixed with passion and drama. This close-knit group was fun to get to know.
