Welcome to Bad@ss Builds where the motorcycles are as sexy as the brothers building them.

Austin Burns:
I thought she wasn't real the first time I saw her. To be fair I was a hungover mess when I woke up and looked into her gorgeous eyes. After getting the second worst news of my life--that my father would be paroled soon--I'd escaped to my buddy's posh cabin near Lake Tahoe. Now the maid with the gorgeous eyes is snowed in with me, and I wonder if she might be a better distraction than the mountain of booze I'd planned on drinking. She's curvy in all the right places, and the snow is falling faster.

Rachel Tannenbaum:
As a single mom, I don't have time for men, especially irresponsible tattooed bad boys like my ex. But Austin is hot. And sexy. And stuck here in the cabin with me. I can't say no to a fling with this bad boy, especially since Austin is so gorgeous and awkwardly sweet.
One night becomes two, and I don't know if I can risk my heart--and my little boy's--if Austin wants it to become more when we get through the snow and back to reality.

My first read by Gillian Archer did NOT disappoint! A broody hunk, an independent single-mom and loads of drama from both sides made for a really fun read. It’s steamy, it’s saga-ish and it’s really heartwarming. I loved the kick-off to the Burns Brothers series and cannot wait to read more!

Austin Burns is a drunken mess the first time they meet. He’s just been informed that his father was granted parole and isn’t sure how he’s going to find the strength to bring this destruction down on his brothers. Who wouldn’t run off to a buddy’s cabin to get plastered out of his mind? He wasn’t expecting company, but as soon as he gets a look at how gorgeous she is, he’s not minding one bit!

Over-worked single mom Rachel Tannenbaum just had one more cleaning job to complete before she could get out of this snowstorm and home to her little boy. She’s shocked to find someone home at what was supposed to be an empty cabin, but she plans to whip the place into shape and be on her way ASAP. Things have a way of not working out when she needs them to though, and this is no exception. She’s snowed in … with a sexy-as-all-get-out hunk of a man. She’s in big trouble! A one-night fling turns into more when they least expect it!

“Are you this indecisive with every fucking thing, or do I just bring it out in ya?” Austin grumbled from somewhere inside the room.

I cleared my throat. “Where, um, where is the dog?”

The room in front of me was a dark cave, and I had that prickling sensation that someone or something was watching me in a menacing way. I just knew it was Blue.

“He’s in here next to me. Relax. Contrary to his growl, he’s just a big baby. You got nothing to worry about.”

“Maybe you could grab one of those chargers for me and fling it in my general direction?” I would’ve turned tail and run already, but I needed to charge my phone. I had to talk to my kid soon, and I should’ve called my boss an hour ago.

“Blue is really docile. I swear. Come on over and pet him. You’ll see.”

My eyes had adjusted to the lack of lighting, and I could see Austin in the front row of recliners with a large dark shadow at his feet.

My heart pounded into my throat. “Yeah, no. I’m good here.”

“Blue, stay.” Austin commanded before he huffed as he got up then walked to the back of the room and fiddled with something. I didn’t really watch him—I was too busy keeping my eyes on the shadow in front of the recliners. A soft panting let me know that I was right. Blue was right there, probably watching me with his big, hungry eyes.

“Here.”

I flinched when Austin appeared at my side. My fight or flight instincts kicked in as I took a few steps back—away from him or the dog I didn’t know. I just wanted to fly away.

“Whoa. Hold up. It’s okay. No one here—man or dog—is gonna hurt you. If it’ll make you feel better, you can take your charger and hole up in a bedroom with the door locked or whatever. Here.” He held the cord out in his hand and the gentle, understanding look in his eyes melted me, and I started babbling.

“I don’t want to be antisocial, it’s just that dogs kinda scare me.” And you kinda scare me too.

“Ah, I’m sorry, sweetheart. I’ll put him in the garage so you don’t—”

“Oh no. You don’t have to do that. I don’t want you kicking him out. I can hang out upstairs or something.”

“It’s not exactly like I’m putting Blue out in the cold. Cole’s garage is nicer than most people’s houses. It’s nicer than the house I grew up in. Blue will be fine.”

I shook my head as I accepted the cord. “I’d still feel bad.”

Austin rocked back on his heels and stuffed his hands in his back pockets. “How deep is this fear of yours? Could you come over and meet Blue? I’ll turn on the lights and stand between you. Despite his size, he’s really a big marshmallow, I swear.”

I bit my lip in indecision. Austin was persuasive, but my fear of dogs went pretty deep. If Blue was a Pitbull, I was out of here. “What breed is he?”

“He’s a Great Dane. They’re the teddy bears of dogs, I promise.”

“I, uh, okay.”

Austin smiled at me as he grabbed my hand. My heart stuttered for a second before it pounded hard in my chest. I’d like to attribute my sudden arrhythmia to fear, but I knew better. I just didn’t want to think about it. Nothing was going to come of this anyway—Austin still thought I had a man back home.

He flicked on the light switch with his other hand, flooding the room with light. I blinked against the glare then focused on the large dog on the floor. My whole body tensed. The dog’s head tilted as he watched me. Unlike the monster that’d mauled me as a teenager, this dog was kinda…lazy looking. Blue let out a soft sigh then fell over onto his side with a human sounding groan. My lips curled slightly, and most of the tension drained from me. He looked sweet and not threatening at all.

“See? He’s a lazy lump. Most days I’m lucky if I can get him off the couch. He’s like a big, lazy teenager but with none of the attitude. And trust me, I’d know.”

I nodded slightly, not letting Blue out of my sight. I knew Austin was the oldest of four brothers. But I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to look like the crazy stalker I clearly was.

Austin’s rumbling voice tore me from my thoughts. “Are you okay with getting closer to him? Blue won’t mind.”

“I, uh, okay,” I mumbled. Blue looked sweet enough, but I was still too nervous to trust he was a teddy bear. He still looked very doglike to me.

“I got Blue two years ago. When he was a puppy, he was the size of most medium adult dogs. But he was as lazy as ever, even as a puppy.” Austin chattered away as we approached the dog in question. Blue blinked languidly at us but didn’t get up, or even lift his head. A low thumping sound pulsed in the silent room as Blue’s tail wagged, walloping away at the floor. “He’s lazy; he won’t get up even when he’s excited.”

My smile grew as I watched Austin kneel down next to the prone dog. He rubbed Blue on his ribs, but still the dog didn’t really move—aside from his tail, which continued to thump against the floor. “Who’s a good boy? Who’s a good boy?”

The baby talk was ridiculously sweet and totally at odds with his professional persona. With the tattoos and muscles and overall badass aura, it made my ovaries flutter to watch Austin caress and sweettalk his dog. And it totally distracted me from my fear, right up to the point that Austin grabbed my hand again.

“You okay with giving him a little pat? I’ll keep myself between you two for your peace of mind, but you’ve got nothing to worry about. He let my brothers lay on top of him.”

My heartbeat thrummed in my ears from the combination of my fear and Austin’s touch. But that sweet, soft look in his eye had me grinning, and before I even realized it, words were coming out of my mouth. “I, uh, yeah sure. That’s okay.”

Austin guided my hand toward Blue’s blue-grey coat. The dog didn’t flinch as our entwined hands moved over him. His fur was soft and kinda bristly. And warm. After a minute Blue groaned again and rolled onto his back, leaving his soft fleshy belly exposed.

“He really loves belly rubs. Here.” Austin moved our hands over Blue’s belly which felt surprisingly like my own skin—soft, hairless, and with that give of a not really firm tummy.

I laughed as I petted him. Austin smiled and looked into my eyes as our hands continued to move over Blue.

“See? Nothing to worry about. Blue’s just a big ol’ baby. Not a scary bone in his body.” Austin’s fingers linked with mine for a second.

I looked down at our joined hands and felt a tingle between my legs. It’d been so, so long since I’d been near a guy I kinda liked, let alone touched one. But I knew no matter how I felt, nothing would ever come of it. I had a son at home, a mom to take care of, and besides, I doubted he had the same jolt that I’d felt just because our hands had touched. He still thought I was married.

You could fix that, a naughty little voice whispered in my head. But I couldn’t think of a way to bring it up that didn’t sound like a come-on. I didn’t want to look like a needy hussy, especially if he wasn’t into me. How embarrassing would that be, if I all but threw myself at him and he rejected me? Meanwhile, we had to spend however much time together. Alone.

No thank you.

Chapter 1

#Suits

Sadie Lane walked through the day spa, closing up for the night, alone as usual. Her coworkers had left, but even if they hadn’t, they’d just be milling around with their ridiculously expensive teas, complaining about how hard this job was.

They had no idea how ridiculous that was to her, but as the lowest person on the ladder, she’d managed to keep her opinions to herself. She was sure it’d only be a matter of time before her mouth overtook her good sense.

Moving around shutting down the computers and dimming the lights, she fantasized about going home and stripping out of her daytime yoga pants and replacing them with her nighttime yoga pants. Unfortunately, even after eight hours on her feet, that wasn’t in the cards for her.

Her phone buzzed an incoming call and a glance at the screen gave her an eye twitch. “Hey, Mom.”

“You always forget to call me back. I’ve been trying to discuss your sister’s wedding details with you for weeks now, and . . .”

Sadie listened with half her brain, the other half wandering off. Did she have time to grab an order of sliders and crispy fries from O’Riley’s, the pub across the courtyard, before heading to her other job? Lunch had been eons ago . . .

“Mercedes Alyssa Lane, are you even listening to me?” her mom asked.

Being full-named always got her back up. It wasn’t that she had anything against her name—okay, so she sort of did because who named a kid after the car where that kid had been conceived?—but more than anything, she had a whole lot against her mother’s tone. “Of course I’m listening.”

She wasn’t. She was thinking about dessert after the sliders. Maybe cookies, maybe a brownie. Maybe both.

“Honey,” her mom said, her voice going tentative. “You’re not feeling . . . sad again, are you?” She whispered sad as if was a bad word.

And to be fair, for most of Sadie’s teenage years it had been a bad word, along with angry, misunderstood, sullen, and unhappy. To say that she and her mom had a complicated relationship was pretty much the understatement of the year.

“Nope,” Sadie said. “I’m fine.” This was an automated response because she didn’t want to deal with the all you have to do to get over the blues is think positively speech again, well-meaning as it was. But her mom was winding up for the big finish, so Sadie braced herself because in three, two, one—

“Remember what Dr. Evans always told you. To get over the blues, all you have to do is think positively.”

Resisting the urge to smack her phone into her own forehead, Sadie drew a deep breath and sank into the cushy chair in her station, where her clients sat while she applied permanent makeup. This was her bread-and-butter job, seeing as the love-of-her-heart job—working as a tattoo artist in the Canvas Shop right next door—didn’t pay enough yet. And call it silly and frivolous, but she’d grown fond of eating.

The problem was, all the time on her feet working way too many hours a day left her exhausted. And maybe the teeniest bit cranky. But not, it should be noted, sad. At least not at the moment. “Mom, you know it’s not that easy, right?”

“To think positively? Of course it is. You just do it. Take your sister, for instance . . .”
Sadie closed her eyes and caught a few z’s while her mom went on about Clara, whom Sadie loved and adored even if she was annoyingly perfect—

“Sadie? Yes or no?”

“Hmm?” She sat upright, opening her eyes. She’d missed a question, but pretending she knew what was going on at all times was her MO. If she couldn’t blow her family away with her brilliance, plan B was always to baffle them with her bullshit. “Sure,” she said. “Whatever you guys decide.”

“Well, that’s very . . . sweet of you,” her mom said, sounding surprised. “And very unlike you.”

Hoping she hadn’t just agreed to wear a frothy Little Bo-Peep bridesmaid dress, Sadie let her gaze shift to the window. Over a hundred years ago, the Pacific Pier Building had been built around a beautiful cobblestoned courtyard that each of the ground floor shops and businesses opened onto, making it convenient for people watching.

One of Sadie’s favorite pastimes.

Seeing as it was February in San Francisco, specifically the Cow Hollow District, a thick icy fog had descended over the dark evening with the promise of rain. She loved a good storm, the darker the better, and figured that love came from her own dark, stormy heart.

The lights had all come on, strung from potted tree to potted tree and along the wrought-iron benches around the water fountain. The area was usually a hub of activity. But tonight only the faint glow of the lights was visible behind the wall of fog, and there was no one in sight. Except . . . wait a minute. A form appeared out of the fog. A tall, leanly muscled form, his overcoat billowing out behind him like he was some sort of superhero.

Sadie called him Suits.

He had a real name, she knew. Caleb Parker. But she’d never said it out loud, preferring her nickname for him, since with the exception of the few times she’d run into him at a gym on the other side of Cow Hollow near the marina, she’d never seen him in anything but a suit. And though she herself wasn’t a suit kind of girl, she could admit there was something about watching him move in gorgeous clothes that had probably cost more than her entire year’s rent.

“Mercedes?” her mother said in her ear. “You still there?”

“Yep.” She searched her brain for the conversation she’d just missed. “Don’t worry, I’ll be on time for Clara’s wedding dress fitting appointment.”

“Did you get a date for the wedding yet?”

Sadie sighed.

“It’s a wedding,” her mom said firmly. “You’ll need a date. And anyway, you’re past due to find your Prince Charming. Way past due.”

“Mom, I don’t need a Prince Charming. Forest animals who clean, yes, but it’s a hard pass for me on Prince Charming.”

“Everyone needs romance,” her mom said. “My book club just read the Fifty Shades trilogy and—”

“Those books aren’t romance, they’re erotica.”

“Actually, they were very romantic. Christian Grey’s a bazillionaire who falls in love with a regular girl. It’s like a Cinderella story.”

Sadie sighed. “Fifty Shades of Grey is only romantic because the guy’s a billionaire. If he was living in a trailer, it’d be a Criminal Minds episode.”

Her mom sighed. “I just don’t know what you have against love.”

“I don’t have anything against it.” Sadie hoped her nose wasn’t growing at the lie. “I just don’t need it right now.” Or ever.”

“But you haven’t dated anyone since Wes, and that was three years ago. He was a good man.”

An attorney, Wes had been sure of himself. Sexy, with an edge. Sadie was long past being hurt over what had happened between them, but she still wasn’t feeling the need to let someone new in, mostly because she simply hadn’t been attracted to anyone.

What about Suits? a voice inside her head whispered as she made her way from one window to the next in order to keep him in her sights. It was misting now and his dark hair shimmered with droplets every time he passed beneath a lamppost. Like Wes had been, he too was sure of himself. Sexy, with an edge . . .

He was everything she no longer let herself want.

Suddenly, he abruptly stopped between the day spa and the Canvas Shop. Crouching low in the now pouring rain, he stared at something she couldn’t see. “I’ve gotta go, Mom. I’ll call you back.”

“You always say that, but you’re fibbing. You’re not supposed to fib to family.”

“Uh-huh,” Sadie said dryly. “Tooth fairy, Santa Claus, and the Easter bunny . . .” And at her mother’s gasp, she gently disconnected, squelching a wince because she’d most definitely pay for that later. Her mom had a lot of talents, and one of them was being able to hold a grudge for a hundred years.

Sadie had a few talents herself, such as not sleeping at night and enjoying chocolate just a little too much. And okay, so she also was talented at drinking tequila, preferably in the form of a frosty lime margarita.

Slipping her phone into her back pocket, she went back to window-gazing to see what Suits was up to. He was still balanced on the balls of his feet, the wind and now rain pummeling his back, seemingly unnoticed.
What the actual hell?

She knew a few things about him. Such as the fact that he had lean muscles everywhere you might want a man to have lean muscles, and that women tended to fall over themselves when he smiled. His eyes were a beautiful caramel, with flecks of gold that sparkled when he laughed. He was some sort of tech genius and used to work at a government think tank. He’d invented a bunch of stuff including a series of apps that he and his business partner had sold to Google. More recently the two of them had created a way of getting meds and medical care into remote developing nations via unmanned drones. He was innovative and inventive on a large scale, smart, charismatic . . .

Oh, and there was one more thing—he and Sadie rubbed each other the wrong way by just breathing. She wasn’t even sure how it’d started, but there was an energy between the two of them she didn’t understand. At best it made her squirm. At worst, it sometimes kept her up at night.

Sadie’s best friend, Ivy, who ran The Taco Truck parked outside the building, had decided that she and Caleb Parker shared an unrequited animalistic lust and nothing could convince her she was wrong.

But it wasn’t lust, because Sadie no longer gave in to lust, animalistic or otherwise. Yes, he was fun, flirty, and charming, but she was highly suspicious of all those things. Her idea of fun, flirty, and charming meant being as sarcastic as possible. It’d done the trick too, scaring men off for years. But oddly, Suits seemed to be able to handle her sarcasm without so much as blinking an eye.

She had no idea what to make of that.

And what was he doing still all hunkered down like that in the rain? Was he hurt?

Driven by curiosity and the inability she had of letting anything go, she unlocked and opened the front door of the day spa and stuck her head out. “Hey.”

Staring at the brick wall, he didn’t turn her way or even glance over. He didn’t do anything except to say “shh.”

Oh, no. No, he did not, and she stepped outside to tell him what she thought of him and his “shh” and where he could put it. Sideways.

But with his gaze still on whatever was in front of him, he held up a hand, silently ordering her to stop where she was.

It was like he wanted her to lose her temper.

But then he was reaching out to the wall, and she realized over the noise of the storm that he was talking quietly to something.

Something that was growling at him fiercely.

“Don’t be scared,” he said softly. “I’m not going to hurt you, I promise.”

The growling got a little louder, but Suits didn’t back away, he just held eye contact with what sounded like a huge dog that Sadie still couldn’t see in the dark shadows.

“Okay,” Suits said. “Come here. Slowly.”

Sadie realized with a start that he was talking to her. “What? No way. What is it?”

“Come closer and you’ll see.”

Damn him. And damn her insatiable curiosity because she stepped out from beneath the spa’s overhang and immediately got wind and rain in her face for her efforts. Pulling out her cell phone, she accessed her flashlight app and aimed it at the wall.

“Don’t,” he said, wrapping his hand around her wrist, bringing the phone down to her side. “You’ll scare it.”

“Better that than getting eaten.” She shrugged off his warm hand but went still when the growling upped a notch.

“I think it’s hurt,” Suits said. “Come here, baby,” he coaxed gently. “Let me see.”

Sadie bet that voice worked for him in the bedroom, but no way would it work here. And yet . . . the matted, drenched shadow scooted away from the wall, not nearly as large as she’d thought. Not a young puppy but not a grown dog either. Its tan-colored body was way too skinny, and black eyes stared out from a black face. “Aw, looks like a young oversize pug,” she murmured.

Suits shook his head. “Too big for a pug. It’s probably got some bullmastiff in it though.”

A skin-and-bones bullmastiff with only three legs, Sadie realized as it shifted closer, and her entire heart melted. “Oh my God.” Moving toward it now without hesitation, she got only a few steps before the dog scrambled to escape her approach like a cat on linoleum, heading right at Suits.

With a surprised grunt, he fell to his ass on the wet cobblestones. “Okay,” he said, hands up, backing up on those fine butt cheeks as if suddenly terrified of the dog trying to get into his lap. “Okay, see? You’re safe now, right? Stay. Stay and sit.”

The dog didn’t stay. Or sit, for that matter. Instead, it leaned on Suits’s bent legs, leaving dirty beige fur sticking to his pants.

He sucked in a breath and seemed to hold it. “I’d really like to be your person, but I can’t.”

“Arf!” Translation: Too late, buddy, you’re totally my person.

“No, you don’t understand,” Suits said. “I literally can’t.”

Undeterred by this news, the dog continued to huddle close to his new human, even as that human shifted back, trying to avoid further contact.

Finally, Suits lifted his head and looked at Sadie. “Help.”

Fascinated by this unexpected show of weakness in the man who’d always come off as invincible, she shook her head. “I think it thinks you’re its mama.”

He glanced around the courtyard as if to see who the dog might belong to, but there was no one.

“Arf!” the dog repeated and sat on Suits’s foot
.
“Oh, I hear you, and we’re going to help you, I promise.”

“I know you must mean you and the mouse in your pocket because we”—Sadie gestured with a finger between him and herself—“are most definitely not a we.”

Ignoring that, he got to his feet, lifting his hands at the dog, giving the universal gesture for stay. But the minute Suits raised his hands, the dog squeaked in terror and leapt back as if he’d been shoved. Off-balance with only three legs, it fell to its back, exposing its underbelly and the fact that it was a she.

Sadie didn’t easily attach. To anything. But right then and there, she fell in love with her. Not partially, but all the way in love, because neglected and mistreated meant they were soul mates. “I’m going to kill her owner.”

“Not if I get to them first.” Suits’s eyes flashed absolute fury, though his voice remained calm as he once again squatted low, trying to get his six-foot-plus frame as nonthreateningly small as he could. “It’s okay, baby,” he crooned softly. “We’re together now, for better or worse, even if you’re going to kill me.”

“What are you talking about?” Sadie asked. “She wouldn’t hurt a damn fly, much less kill you.”
Proving that, the dog slowly once again scooted toward Suits, head down, her hind end a little wiggly as she crawled close, trying to get into his lap.

The sweet hope of it had Sadie’s heart pretty much exploding in her chest.

With a sigh, Suits wrapped his arms around the dog and hugged her close. In response, the cutie-pie set her oversize head on his broad chest.

“Yeah, that’s some killer,” Sadie said, shoving her wet hair from her face.

“I’m allergic.”

Suits said this so nonchalantly that she blinked. “Is that some sort of a euphemism for ‘I hate dogs’?”

“No,” he said. “Reach into my front left pocket.”

She snorted. “You’re kidding me, right? Does anyone actually fall for that?”

“If I pass out, you’ll need my keys to play Nurse Nightingale.”

She paused, staring at his face. She saw no sign that he was teasing—very unusual for the charming, easygoing guy she knew him to be.

“I’m trusting you to not let me die,” he said as if he was discussing the weather.
“This isn’t funny.”

He met her gaze, his own more serious than she’d ever seen him. “If I don’t make it, promise me you’ll at least make up something really good for my funeral, okay? Like, I died heroically saving your sexy ass, and not because a sweet dog like this one hugged me.”

“Okay,” she said slowly, “I’m starting to think you’re really not joking.”

“I never joke about dying.”

Benson Bayou Beauregard is the president of the Bear Bottom Guardians MC, and the grandson of the Sergeant at Arms for the Dixie Wardens MC. He’s a mountain of a man and the warden of a prison, and there’s only one thing that can scare him—being told that he’s the father of a three-year-old little girl.

A three-year-old little girl that has no clue who he is. Hell, he only finds out about the little cherub when a woman from child protective services comes by and rocks his world before leaving the girl in his shocked arms.

Every single thing he thinks he knows goes up in a cloud of smoke.

To make matters worse, the woman that he’s been trying to convince to give him a chance takes one look at the little girl and tells him that he’s just not in the right place to handle both of them.

But Bayou was never one to back down from a challenge.

He can handle a three-year-old girl that acts exactly like him, and he can more than take on the fiery red-head that sets flame to his blood while he’s at it.

Sweet, touching and steamy-licious! With the next book in the Bear Bottom Guardians MC series, Bayou is front and center. We know him as the quiet but steady friend to all of his MC, a solid leader as president of the club and warden at the prison. We learn more about him personally and where his past led him. There’s really no MC part to this book, but it’s a really great taming of the tough guy with the haunted past sort of story. Really enjoyed it!

Bear Bottom Guardians MC president Benson “Bayou” Beauregard is shocked when a social worker shows up handing him a three year old little girl who his crazy ex never told him about. He’s not sure he’s good enough to be the parent she needs, but it doesn’t take long for the woman he’s got eyes for to set him straight and ease him on the path of being the best Daddy ever.

Phoebe Mackenzie met Bayou when she was fifteen years old, and made a huge impact on his life. She shows up at the prison to apply for a job and gets up close and personal with him again. He doesn’t believe she could possible be interested in someone like him … but little does he know that he’s all she’s ever wanted!

When Graham Braden travels to Oak Falls, Virginia to attend the wedding of his buddy Reed Cross to Grace Montgomery, he sticks around to help with renovations to Reed's new theater. The last thing he expects is to be asked to assess and possibly invest in Grace's sister Morgyn's business endeavor. Graham is a careful, keen businessman, and Morgyn is impulsive, disorganized, and more interested in the energy flow in her eclectic retail shop than in the accuracy of her records. While Graham isn't ready to open his pockets to the sassy, sexy business owner, he may be ready to open his heart.

Cute, feisty and sexy as all get out! With the next book in the Bradens and Montgomerys series, we get Graham and Morgyn’s story. As always, the characters were adorable together and quick to pull me into their story. I felt like the story wasn’t as well developed as a typical Melissa Foster book though. While we went through a little strife with them, it was only a dash of an after thought and then all plowed ahead. Two huge families came into play to fill in the space, but the overall couple needed more development. Still loved reading it though!

When Graham Braden passes through a local festival while he’s heading to Oak Falls, Virginia for his buddy Reed’s wedding, he never expects to meet a woman who knocks him for a loop at first sight. He can’t resist temptation and she’s a hard woman to walk away from. Come to find out, she’s Reed’s new sister-in-law and one of the reason’s Reed wanted him to stick around and give some opinions on the theater remodel.

Free spirit Morgyn Montgomery can’t believe she met a man at the festival. He’s more than she ever dreamed of and if she believed in marriage, she might propose on the spot! She has some big business decisions to make, and Graham has the knowledge to give her some advise, but he usually steers clear of mixing business with pleasure … but for her, he might break all of his rules!

Excerpt

“What are your three most favorite things?” Morgyn asked as she strummed the guitar.
“That’s a hard one.”
“Okay, and the next two?” She bumped him with her shoulder, looking as sweet as she did sexy wearing one of his flannel shirts over her dress.
He loved her quirky sense of humor.
“Shouldn’t that be one of your favorite things?” he teased.
She shifted her gaze up toward the sky and strummed a faster tune, singing, “It’s your turn, not mine.”
“I’ve got a lot of favorite things.” He ran his fingers along her leg. “Your sexy legs.”
Her eyes darkened, and she played a little slower.
“And the way flecks of darker blue glitter in your eyes when you get turned on.”
“Cracker,” she said just above a whisper.
“I can’t help it that you’re beautiful.”
“Stop. You’re embarrassing me. Tell me something real.”
“That was real, and number three would be your free spirit.”
“Says Mr. Prepared, who brought a pop-up shower stall, a battery-operated heater, and a Coleman stove like my grandfather used. I’m willing to bet there’s a kitchen sink around here somewhere.”
“No sink, but I can rig one up if you need it.” He leaned in for a kiss, lingering because her kisses were unlike any others. She kissed with the same energy she seemed to do everything else, giving herself over to it completely, savoring every second.
Her eyes remained closed for a few heated seconds after their lips parted. When she opened them, a sated smile appeared like a gift. He wondered if she kissed other guys like that, or if she felt the same unfamiliar, unstoppable connection he did.
“I like kissing you, sunshine.” He brushed her hair behind her ear and kissed her again, slower and sweeter than the last. “I’m adding that to my list. I think I need more than three things.”

Dylan Stone and Serena Fields have been best of friends their entire lives. For Dylan, she's the solid, dependable woman in his life. His person. The one who has been there for him through the best and worst of times and doesn't see him for the millions he has in the bank. And even though he's been secretly attracted to her for years, there are some lines that best friends don't cross—even if he does spend most of their time together entertaining dirty thoughts about her that have no business being in his head.

Serena has been in love with Dylan Stone for as long as she can remember, but she's searching for her happily-ever-after and that's not her best friend's thing. Unfortunately, her dating life is one disaster after another, yet Dylan is always there with a pint of her favorite ice cream and a listening ear after each and every disappointing encounter.

It's the perfect arrangement, until one night changes everything.

Fast-paced, steamy and delightful! Dylan and Serena are really easy to connect with right from the start in this story. He’s supporting her as she hunts for Mr. Right, all the while enjoying the scenery along the way. She’s tired of all of the frogs she’s having to kiss on the way towards her Prince. The characters were believable and fairly well developed, and the story line in general was pretty spot on. I felt like the ending was a bit rushed though and we could have used a little more development of their unfolding relationship together. Overall a very enjoyable read!

Dylan Stone has adored Serena for as long as he can remember. She’s been his best friend since way back when they were just kids, and she’s been there through thick and thin. He supports her through this journey of life, and wants her to find her happily ever after more than anything, but it doesn’t stop him from secretly lusting after her body on a regular basis!

Serena Fields wants forever. Love, marriage, kids … the whole nine yards. She’s been in love with Dylan for so long she can’t remember not loving him, but he doesn’t want the same things that she does out of life, so she keeps trudging along one rotten date after another searching for “the one”. One unexpected night changes everything between them, and it’s time to get their heads out of the sand once and for all and decide what exactly they are going to be to each other.

Excerpt:

Standing in the back of the elevator, Serena’s warmth and scent wreaked havoc on Dylan’s senses with every breath he took. He was still on edge from her rubbing up against him on the dance floor, and it didn’t help matters that her backside was inches away from finding out just how hot and bothered she’d managed to make him. He was so excruciatingly hard his dick throbbed for relief, which sadly it wasn’t going to get tonight, and he shifted his stance so his erection didn’t end up prodding Serena’s ass.

It seemed to take forever until they reached their floor, and they quietly walked down the hall toward their separate junior suites, which were located directly across from each other, with him and Eric on one side, and her and Chelsea on the other.

She retrieved her key card from the small purse she’d worn with the strap across her body so she didn’t have to hold the bag. He started to tell her good night as she waved the plastic card in front of the lock mechanism, but the faint sounds he heard coming from inside her room—unmistakable moaning, groaning, sex noises—had him blurting out, “Don’t open the door!” right as she pushed inside.

She sucked in a startled breath and froze as she belatedly realized what she’d just walked in on—their friends getting laid. With each other. Half-dressed, Eric was sitting on the couch in the living room area, with Chelsea straddling his lap, her dress hiked up to the tops of her thighs as they kissed and groped and moaned in pleasure, oblivious to the fact that they had an audience. Jesus, out of courtesy, the least they could have done was hang the do-not-disturb sign on the door.

“Oh, crap,” Dylan heard Serena rasp. Clearly flustered, she spun around, and in her haste to get out of the room, she slammed right into him as the door shut behind her.

The unexpected impact had her wobbling on her heels, and his hands automatically shot out to grab her arms, then hauled her close to keep her steady on her feet.

Big fucking mistake. Not only because her sweet, firm breasts were crushed against his chest and her body plastered to his, but the big, round eyes staring up at him in shock had nothing to do with what they’d just witnessed and everything to do with the stiff length of his erection tenting his pants that was now pressing insistently against her belly.

“Oh my God, are you turned on because you just saw . . .”

Her words trailed off, but he knew what, or whom, she was referring to. The easy answer was to say yes, even if it did make him look like a pervert, but the frustration he’d been dealing with all night was at its tipping point and overrode common sense.

“No, it’s because of you, Serena,” he said through gritted teeth, the filter on his words having gone AWOL. “I’ve been hard as a rock since you wiggled your ass against my dick out on the dance floor. I’m a man, you’re gorgeous and hot as hell, so yeah, I fucking want you.”

Time stood still as the truth spilled out of him, his heart racing in his chest at what he’d just revealed. Serena’s lips parted, her features etched at first with disbelief, then quickly shifting to hope and elation, then on to something more daring and courageous.

“It’s now or never,” he heard her whisper right before she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulled his head down to hers, and kissed him . . . not like a friend, but a sinfully sexy lover.

This couldn’t happen. Stop her, his brain shouted as their mouths merged and her tongue touched his bottom lip enticingly . . . but the accumulation of desire he’d harbored for his best friend for so many years finally crashed through every bit of self-discipline he had left, which wasn’t much at this point.

He was helpless to resist her, and he suddenly no longer wanted to.

The last thing she expected was a billionaire under the mistletoe …

As a trauma surgeon, Isabelle Rockwell has devoted her life to helping others. Her life is too crazy for romance…despite a powerful attraction to a stranger during an unexpected layover in Italy. But there’s no time to obsess over the mystery man. Recurring dreams of her mother are calling her home to the family lodge, where a surprise guest is staying for the holidays—who else but her airport hottie!

Battling a takeover, billionaire Lyle Guero has been asked by his board of directors to lay low. What better place than Rocky Peak Lodge, his latest silent investment, home to the woman who’s haunted his thoughts since Rome? Independent, fascinating, equally career-focused, she’s the perfect temporary distraction.

But he didn’t count on the holiday spirit, the zany Rockwell family, or the danger lurking in the snowy shadows of the Cascades. How far will two renegade hearts go for a chance at love?

A homecoming, a bit of mystery, and the last man she ever expected to see again! With the next book in The Rockwell Legacy, we see the lodge renovation making progress, get updates on the two couples we’ve loved in previous books and begin Isabelle’s journey to love. I enjoy this family and series very much overall, but found this particular book to be lackluster. Her back story wasn’t built up nearly as well as her brother’s had been in their earlier stories, and the connection between she and Lyle just fell a little flat for my taste. Still enjoyed the story, just not my favorite in the series. Looking forward to more to come!

Doctor Isabelle Rockwell is finally making the journey home after working with Doctor’s Without Borders in faraway places. She’s torn about her journey. She enjoys the work she gets to do for people who really need it, but she misses her family and a recurring dream about her mother finally has her unable to stay away any longer. She needs to know what’s pulling her home once and for all … but she never expects to see a familiar face when she gets there!

Billionaire Lyle Guero is having a takeover crisis at his company and lying low while things get ironed out, so what better place to visit than his latest project? He’s the silent investor that  is enabling Rocky Peak Lodge to be returned to it’s old glory again, so he’s excited to get to see how it’s coming along, and get a feel for what the lodge will feel like when it’s open and thriving once again. He doesn’t know Izzy will be there, but he’s thrilled to get to reconnect with the woman who caught his eye when they were stranded together in Rome overnight!

EXCERPT:

“Do you remember where we left off in Rome?” she murmured, rising up on one elbow. With a light shove, she urged him down onto his back. He wore a zippered hoodie. Bending her head, she used her teeth to unzip it. The hard curves of his chest made the saliva dry up in her mouth.

He was watching her so closely, so carefully.

“I’m pretty sure you were lying down like this,” she whispered. “And I was somewhere right around here.”

She swung one leg over him and shifted into the same straddling position that was burned into her nighttime fantasies leftover from Rome.

“That does look familiar.” He reached up and ran one finger along the upper edge of her bra. “Different bra, though. The other one was white.”

“That was my favorite travel bra.” She shivered at the prickles racing across her skin. “It’s important to look good in case you get into an accident, you know. Renata always told me that.”

“She was so right. You accidentally ran into me. And you looked good. Still do.” He spread his hand across the skin above her breasts. The breadth of his handspan amazed her. It felt as if every inch of her chest was covered by his warm palm. It was a wonderfully hypnotic sensation. “You always do, to me.”

“Well, see this one is actually my most embarrassing bra. It’s the comfy last resort I wear when I haven’t done laundry lately.” Was that the kind of thing you were supposed to confess to a billionaire? Even a de-billionaired one?

“Doesn’t matter. You still look good to me. Clothes are irrelevant.”

She rolled her eyes slightly. “Men always say that. Then you show up in a skimpy dress and they lose their minds.”

“Hey, I’m pro skimpy dress. I’m also pro comfy bra. I’m also very much pro getting rid of the comfy bra.”

Laughter rose straight up from her heart to her lips, into a smile she couldn’t hide. “I hope you don’t mean permanently.”

“Just for now.” He reached behind her and deftly found the fastener. Then he hit a roadblock, because the catch was broken.

He chuckled as he struggled with the fastener. “Okay, make it permanent. Just how attached are you to this one?”

“Very. It’s mine.”

“Ditch this one. I’ll buy you a new one.”

She put a hand on his chest while he continued to work on it. “Hey. Before we do this, I just want to say one thing. I’m my own person. I decide when it’s time to throw away my bras. Bossing me around in bed is one thing. Once we set foot outside bed, no one bosses me around. Not you, not anyone.”

“It’s just a bra.”

“No, it’s not. It’s a principle.”

He held her gaze, then nodded slowly. “I hear you. I do. And honestly, it’s a great bra. If you love it, I love it. My only problem with it is that I can’t get it off. This bra is a fricking cockblocker. It has it in for me. I’d do better doing ten rounds in a boxing ring.”

She burst out laughing at his absurdity. “I got it. Give me a second.” Instead of messing with the catch, she tugged it over her head and tossed it aside. “Voila.”

“Well damn.” He cupped her breasts, which filled his hands perfectly. Her nipples were already hardening just from the way he looked at her. “Now I know.”

“Now you know.” Her breath was coming fast and her head swam with  anticipation.

“Can we get back to another point you just made? That bit about bossing you around in bed. I liked that.”

Her throat tightened, as if a vise had closed around it. “What I meant was—”

“I know what you meant.” His quiet tone made liquid heat rise in her lower belly. He brushed his thumbs across her nipples. She leaned forward, arching her back, aching with desire. For long moments of excruciating pleasure, he stroked her breasts, cradling them in his palms, shaping them, arousing the erect peaks until she wanted to burst out of her skin.

Hoax knows two things very well.

One, he’s not relationship material. Two, the nurse that treats him for erectile dysfunction is the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen, and practically has ‘the marrying type’ stamped on her forehead.

Does that stop him from wanting her? No.

Unfortunately, he learned a long time ago that Army Delta Force and long-lasting relationships don’t go hand in hand.
But beautiful hazel eyes, curly blonde hair, and the prettiest lips he’s ever seen play havoc with his resolve, making him forget his earlier convictions.

All it takes is one teeny, tiny kiss for every shred of control he has to disappear, along with the problem in his pants.
Soon he finds himself doing things that he knows that he shouldn’t. He doesn’t know that he’s found the woman that’s meant to be his. Nor does he realize that her father is the man he’s idolized from the moment he joined the army at the age of eighteen. Because, maybe if he had, he would’ve tried a little harder to ignore the pull he felt between them instead of making her his the night before he deployed for six months.

He also might’ve tried a little harder not to knock her up.

Hot, steamy and oh so fun! Heading back to Bear Bottom, Texas for the next Guardians MC book is always a pleasure! We met Hoax in a previous book, and now it’s time to continue his story. He is an all around good guy and it’s super sexy to see him fall head over heels for Pru. Looking forward to more in the series!

Delta Force operative Hoax Hicks knows the minute that he sees her that she’s going to be his. What he doesn’t know, is that she’s going to change him and make him want to stick around instead of hit it and run like has always been his motto. It’s terrible timing … but he’ll do anything to make it work.

ER nurse Pru Mackenzie feels like she’s been struck by lightening the day she meets Hoax at the hospital. She’s been burned one too many times by a military guy in the past, so there’s no way she’s dating this guy … but he’s hotness personified and way too hard to resist! By the time he ships out again, they’re in love and not afraid to shout it off the rooftops … but will the little surprise he leaves behind change anything?

Every mission has a price.
He never meant for her to pay it.

Aiden has never left anyone behind. Not a comrade and certainly not an innocent. But when an undercover mission goes wrong, he's forced to abandon a woman trapped in a human trafficking ring.

Violet learned brutally that no one is promised a happy ending. She knows Aiden blames himself for his part, but she refuses to let her abduction define the rest of her life.

She won’t be a victim again. And she’s going after what she wants: Aiden.

Watching Violet transform herself into a fierce warrior is the sexiest thing Aiden has ever seen. The honorable plan would be to stay away from her—let her heal and grow without the shadow of his mistakes clouding her progress—even though every instinct tells him to claim her for his own.

But when they discover the danger they thought they’d left behind is closer than ever, they’ll have to confront their fears and fight side-by-side in order to survive.

We are smack dab in the middle of the action from the first word on the page! With the third book in her exciting new Linear Tactical series, Janie Crouch brings us Aiden’s story with SHAMROCK. From the first paragraph, we’re hooked! Lots of action, intrigue even when they think it’s over, and a steamy hot connection between these two people we can’t help but adore. Loved it … my fav in the series so far!

Violet Collingwood has no clue why she’s been kidnapped, but she knows she’s fighting for her life when she meets Aiden. She doesn’t know him from Adam, but he’s the first person to make an effort to help her, so she trusts him and sets her heart on his rescue. Things don’t go exactly as planned, but the memory of his kindness helps her hold on.

Linear Tactical operative Aiden Teague can tell something isn’t right with Violet the second he lays eyes on her, but he’s undercover pretending he’s one of these low lifes and can’t just snatch her up and whisk her away. The plan he has to rescue her goes awry, but nothing can stop his ambition to find her again. When opportunity knocks, he’s all in!

“We need to get you away from this wall,” Aiden whispered.
“Why?”
“I have a rescue team outside. We just want to make sure you’re safe if things get a little more rowdy than we planned.”
Violet tried to stand but her body had taken too much damage today. Too much trauma. Her muscles just wouldn’t work. “I can’t seem to move. I’m sorry.”
He reached down and scooped her into his arms.
“Wait! I’m too heavy.”
He kissed her forehead, keeping her high against his chest as he crossed the room. “Featherweight.”
The way he moved so quickly with her, so easily, she almost believed him.
He set her gently on the ground behind him, then pressed something on his neck. “Control, Shamrock. We’re on the south wall. You’re clear to breach.”
He helped ease her down so she was sitting low on the floor. Then he crouched in front of her, pulling her head against his chest and wrapping his arms around her.
“What’s going to happen?” she whispered. “Is it going to be loud?”
“Not if everything goes the way we expect it to. But keep your head down just in case.”
His big body was surrounding her on just about every side. Anything that was going to hit her was going to have to go through him first. “What about you? Are you bulletproof or something?”
“My mom always said I had a hard enough head to stop a bullet. Plus I have a Kevlar vest. So we should be okay.”
They sat in silence for a few moments. “Maybe at some point after this we could meet each other when I actually have some clothes on. You know, just to try something different.”
His deep chuckle was enough to almost make her forget the situation. Make her forget her body had been so abused that she couldn’t even make her muscles move at her command. That this man, whose name she wasn’t sure she actually knew, had seen her naked multiple times. “That’s a deal,” he whispered. “And I’m sure Gabe has clothes for you in the van.”
The thought of having to walk, or be carried, naked even in front of the good guys sent ice through her veins. She wanted to ask Aiden to help her, but the man was already shielding her body with his own. What more did she really want?
But she couldn’t be naked again in front of a group of strangers. She couldn’t stand it. Her throat started to close, making breathing impossible.
A finger trailed up and down her cheek. “It’s going to be okay. We’re going to get you out of here. Just hang on for a few more minutes, sweetheart, all right?”

Bad boy quarterback Tyler Harris plays ball for a living and breaks hearts for a hobby.

With two championships in as many years, Tyler is the best quarterback in the league. Gorgeous and rich, he’s at the top of his game. Women love him. Men want to be him. Only Tyler’s not feeling the love. In fact, he’s not feeling anything at all. Licking his wounds after a scandal and a breakup with his long-time girlfriend, he retreats to a run-down mansion on a remote island in the Pacific Northwest. Once there, Tyler is blindsided by the sassy redhead next door. He knows that he’s met his match and possibly his soulmate. There’s one problem. She despises him.

Lavender Mead has a good reason to dislike jocks, namely an absentee father who deserted the family to coach college football. Maybe that explains her penchant for bad boys — especially those who play ball. Her new neighbor seems just that type. Yet Tyler’s not the shallow superstar she expected, and she’s inexplicably drawn to football’s bad boy. The two are so hot together, they’re combustible.

As the clock ticks down, can they commit to each other forever? Or will they both fall short of the goal at the last minute?
