A mysterious visitor at the door…

Can danger be far behind?

Quarter Horse breeder Fox Colton is a loner by nature. So when an anonymous infant appears on his doorstep, he reluctantly takes in the baby—and new assistant Kelsey Lauder. As he grows to cherish his unexpected family, Fox works to track down Baby John Doe’s real parents. But when secrets from Fox’s own past are unearthed, he could find himself alone again, just as he’s come to love the new people in his life.

As the tenth book in The Colton’s of Roaring Springs series, Regan Black’s COLTON FAMILY SHOWDOWN is quick to delight with a mystery arriving on the scene almost instantly.

Fox is a bit of a loner, feeling on the outside of his family but loyal to a fault to the Crooked C Ranch. When an infant is left on his doorstep, he sets out to find out who the baby belongs to, bringing his new assist and temporary nanny along for the ride.

Kelsey is secretive, and we’re a little unsure of whether she’s trustworthy or not at first, but once her story comes out, we understand her dilemma.

I recommend this story to anyone enjoying a good mystery involving a baby. The character’s attachment to the little guy was heartwarming, and the mystery was powerful enough to hold our attention. There wasn’t a lot of movement towards solving the series wide Avalanche Killer mystery, but this individual one was satisfying enough to carry the story.

With a dash of Christmas magic...
Two people who have spent most of their lives being rivals...
Learn a little something about following their hearts...

Carter Montgomery broke the family mold when he went to culinary school. Now a successful restauranteur, he's at a crossroads: should he continue on his successful path or look for a new challenge? What he needs is time alone to think things through. But his matchmaking family has other ideas...

Emery Monaghan's no-good fiancé has embroiled her in scandal and she needs a way out. When mentor Eliza Montgomery offers her a refuge, she's relieved—until she realizes that the deal means rubbing elbows with Eliza's son Carter—Emery's childhood nemesis.

A DASH OF CHRISTMAS is the next book in Samantha Chase’s beloved Montgomery Brothers series and brings us the story of restaurateur Carter and childhood nemesis Emery in a really adorable take on an enemies to lovers story.

Carter comes across as a bit cold and moody in the beginning, but it doesn’t take him long to warm a reader’s heart to his plight. He went against the family grain to become a chef and successful restaurant owner, so he is struggling with the right move when he wants to expand into something different.

Emery feels a bit beaten down when she comes into the first scene, but a few days in Carter’s company has the sassy spitfire he used to deal with coming back to life and challenging him tooth and nail. His mom might think she’s being smooth trying to fix them up together, but there’s no way they can stop hating each other long enough to consider the dating potential … right?

I recommend this book to anyone loving a good enemies to lovers story with a strong, sassy dialogue between the characters. This entire series has been delightful, so you can’t go wrong picking up any book featuring a Montgomery.

As snowflakes fall in Gold Valley, Oregon, will this rugged cowboy finally win the woman of his dreams?

Cowboy Caleb Dalton has loved single mom Ellie Bell, and her little daughter, Amelia, for years. But since Ellie is his best friend’s widow, Caleb’s head knows Ellie will always be strictly off-limits. If only his heart got the memo. So when Caleb discovers that Ellie has a Christmas wish list—and hopes for a kiss under the mistletoe—he’s throwing his cowboy hat into the ring. If anyone’s going to be kissing Ellie and sharing this magical time with her and her daughter, it’s him.

Ellie has dreaded the holidays since losing her husband. But this year, she’s finally ready to make some changes. She never expects the biggest change to be the heart-stopping kiss she shares with Caleb. For almost five years, Caleb has been her best friend, her rock, her salvation. This Christmas, can Caleb prove he’s also the missing puzzle piece of Ellie’s and Amelia’s hearts?

COWBOY CHRISTMAS REDEMPTION is book eight in the ever-delightful Gold Valley series by Maisey Yates and centers around a widowed single mom and her best friend cowboy in a friends to lovers/forbidden love romance. This series is rich in character development, and as we are getting the love story of the main couple, we are often getting updates on some of our favorite couples from previous books as well.

Caleb’s family has been going through some drama for a few books now, so he was quick to catch my eye as his story started to unfold and feel familiar from the previous tidbits we had learned about it all. He’s been looking out for Ellie for years now, and when he learns she’s ready to move forward with her life, he wants to be right beside her as she does.

Ellie pulled at our heartstrings from the start. Since losing her husband five years ago, she’s been pouring her heart and soul into raising their daughter Amelia, with lots of help from her husband’s (and now her own) best friend. When she starts to look at Caleb in a whole new way, she’s not sure what to make of it.

I strongly recommend this book and this entire series for anyone loving a small town romance that is heavy on family and friend connections. The angst is spot on, and the happily ever after always feel heartwarmingly real.

Excerpt:

The dog jumped onto the couch and continued to yelp, pawing Erika’s shoulder.

“Can you get it away?” she asked, her eyes closed, hands clutched in front of her.

“You allergic?” he asked, approaching and lifting the dog into his arms.

“No. Terrified.”

“Don’t worry. Diva doesn’t eat city folk.” He brought the dog to the kitchen and set her down by her food dish.

Erika glared as she removed her coat and scarf. “It’s not like we have a certain smell or anything.” She kicked off her boots and leaned back against the cushions.

He shrugged as he reached for a blanket from the back of the couch. “I don’t know about that,” he said. He bent toward her and paused near her ear to sniff. The action was meant as a jerk move to annoy her, but damn, it backfired. The tantalizing sweet scent of honey on her neck was subtle and provocative. He hadn’t been close enough to be tempted by it when she’d been in his arms, but now it clouded his senses.

Luckily, she shoved him away before he could do something moronic like lick her.

He tossed the blanket over her quickly and stood. “Okay, so you’re all good?”

She nodded, but her gaze was on his midsection. And her unblinking stare was full of unconcealed attraction. The same way she’d checked out his biceps in the bar.

He glanced down to see that his T-shirt had risen slightly on the right side, exposing his stomach.

Obviously his abs were to her liking.

“Erika.”

“Huh?” Still staring.

“It’s been a while, huh?”

She frowned, finally pulling her gaze back to his. “For what?

“Since you’ve had sex.”

Her mouth gaped.

“I mean, that’s why you’re staring at my stomach like I’m a piece of chocolate.”

“I was not,” she said, but her cheeks flushed. “And I’ll have you know, I have plenty of sex…all the time. Men beating down my door for it…” she mumbled.

That he wouldn’t doubt, except he knew from Cassie that she was a reclusive workaholic and he was willing to bet the only penises she saw were her naked patients.

“And anyway, even if that was the case, you’d be the last guy I’d want to break my dry spell.”

Okay, now he was intrigued. Especially since he’d made no motion to fix his shirt and her eyes were glued on his abs again, betraying her words. He crossed his arms, making sure to flex his biceps for her viewing pleasure, as well. She wasn’t going to get him, but all of a sudden, he wanted her to want him.

“Because I don’t think you’d be any good.”

Hearts are lighter and wishes burn a little brighter at Christmas…

Elizabeth Hamilton has been lost. Trapped in a tangle of postpartum depression and grief after the death of her beloved parents, she couldn’t quite see the way back to her husband and their two beautiful kids…until a car accident stole away her memories and changed her life. And when she finally remembered the sound of little Cassie’s laugh, the baby powder smell of Bridger and the feel of her husband’s hand in hers, Elizabeth worried that they’d moved on without her. That she’d missed too much. That perhaps she wasn’t the right mother for her kids or wife for Luke, no matter how much she loved them.

But now, seven years later, Luke finds her in a nearby town and brings Elizabeth back home to the family she loves, just in time for Christmas. And being reunited with Luke and her children is better than anything Elizabeth could have imagined. As they all trim the tree and bake cookies, making new holiday memories, Elizabeth and Luke are drawn ever closer. Can the hurt of the past seven years be healed over the course of one Christmas season and bring the Hamiltons the gift of a new beginning?

COMING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS is book ten in RaeAnne Thayne’s ever-popular Haven Point series and is the story readers have been clamoring for … Elizabeth and Luke Hamilton!

Elizabeth is a character who has brought mystery and flare to the series as we all wondered what truly happened to her. She up and disappeared, leaving a husband and two small children … never to be heard from again. Seven long years have passed, and finally answers are at Luke’s fingertips … only he’s so angry and bitter that he doesn’t even want an explanation!

Emotions are high as Elizabeth makes the trip home to help clear up the mystery surrounding her disappearance … and once the story comes to light, Luke can’t withhold the reunion with her children she so desperately wants. Seven years is a lifetime to some … and to some, insurmountable.

I highly recommend this story and the entire Haven Point series to anyone loving small town life, emotional connections and a strong family base. RaeAnne Thayne is the queen of sweet romance!

It’s love. Trust me.

After a lifetime on the move, Ivy Snow is an expert in all things temporary—schools, friends, and way too many Mr. Wrongs. Now that she owns a successful taco truck in San Francisco and an apartment to call home, Ivy’s reinvented life is on solid ground. And she’s guarded against anything that can rock it. Like the realities of a past she’s worked hard to cover up. And especially Kel O’Donnell. Too hot not to set off alarms, he screams temporary. If only his whispers weren’t so delightfully naughty and irresistible.

Kel, an Idaho sheriff and ranch owner, is on vacay, but Ivy’s a spicy reason to give his short-term plans a second thought. Best of all, she’s a tonic for his untrusting heart, burned once and still in repair. But when Ivy’s past intrudes on a perfect romance, Kel fears that everything she’s told him has been a perfect lie. Now, if only Ivy’s willing to share, Kel will fight for a true love story.

WRAPPED UP IN YOU is book eight in the delightful Heartbreaker Bay series by Jill Shalvis and centers around a rancher cop and a food truck owner in a bit of an opposites attract spin.

It’s always a joy to open a Heartbreaker Bay story because it’s like visiting old friends. There is such a tight group that we meet time and again in these books as they always show up to love and support the next couple finding their way towards a happily ever after. Ivy was easy to sympathize with and like. She has a lot of conflicted feelings towards her past and really brings that emotional connection to her story.

Kel brings a sense of danger to the storyline because she knows a cop can bring her life crumbling down, yet she can’t resist the temptation of him. He’s inquisitive and caring and brings a dimension to her life she’s been missing.

I recommend this solid addition to the series to anyone enjoying a close knit group of friends behind the scenes and a love story always front and center. You simply can’t go wrong with any book in the series as they are always filled with love, laughter and friendship.

AN ALASKAN CHRISTMAS is the first book in Jennifer Snow’s brand new Wild River series and is sure to delight fans of action packed story lines. It revolves around a surgeon and search and rescue leader, their family drama and and a shot at a happily ever after when they least expect it.

Erika was a tough cookie to get to know. She was a powerful surgeon and get it done type of person, but her softer side was a mystery I enjoyed unraveling as the book developed. She sought acceptance, yet found it hard to let down her guard when the love she had always craved was knocking at her door.

Reed was a fun-loving guy and had me smiling throughout. He’s a powerful force on the mountain, but doesn’t let the job control him. He has quite the interest in Erika, but he’s not so sure he’ll be able to hold her attention once she’s back to work.

I highly recommend this story to anyone looking for a down home type of town to fall in love with. The town is tight and the characters are endearing. There were a few places when the plot could have been filled in a little, but overall it was a great read and I look forward to the next book in the series!

A CIA psychologist on the trail of a deadly weapon falls for her prime suspect and discovers she’s not the only one who has him in her sights…

Way Kingston craves the peaceful solitude of the open road. Just him and the roar of a motorcycle. The kind of alone time that’s hard to find in his tight-knit family. Too tight for his liking. Way’s a grown-ass, former Marine. He doesn’t need their collective noses in his business. Back in Steele Ridge, Way’s building a new career as a gunsmith. Clients pay big bucks for his expertise, ingenuity…and discretion. Especially when national security is at stake. So when a smoking hot stranger with the swagger of a government agent walks into his workshop, Way knows her questions are fully loaded.

Roni Fenwick grew up in the foster system. With no family to watch her back, she can’t afford to lose the few friends she has. Which is why it kills her to lie to Maggie Kingston. But the sheriff’s not-so-little brother designed a game-changing bullet for the CIA. A bullet that’s hit the streets. Now, the agency believes Way double-crossed them and has sent Roni to prove it. Except Way is tougher to crack than she anticipated. And much easier to fall for. His kisses drive her to distraction—something she can’t risk with a killer at large.

As the investigation turns personal, Roni begins to trust in Way’s innocence. But if he’s not behind the top-secret leak, who is? Finding the truth could end her career…or both their lives.

BURNING ACHE is book five in the Steele Ridge: The Kingstons sub-series and centers around former Marine turned gunsmith Waylon Kingston and undercover CIA agent Roni Fenwick.

The Kingstons prove in book after book what an interesting family they are, so we already knew that Way was going to be a bit of a loner trying to stay out from under his over-bearing family’s thumb. He would happily live on the back of his motorcycle cruising the open road if he could, but when trouble comes knocking at his door, that’s beginning to look less and less likely.

Roni is a complex character that we find difficult to read at first as she reluctantly sets out to pull the wool over her friend Maggie’s eyes when she supposedly pops into Steele Ridge for a visit when in reality she’s been sent to spy on Way and figure out if he’s the reason the hugh-hush bullet he secretly developed for the government is now showing up on the streets.

I recommend this book to anyone loving a suspenseful read with lots of heart and emotion that is backed by a close-knit family. You can’t go wrong with any book you pick up in this series and I always heartily look forward to the next book to come.

He was sent to guard her body… he didn’t expect her to steal his heart.

Her sister’s wedding was hardly the place to find a hook up, but after one look at friend-of-the-groom and special operative Josiah Grant, small-town Texas beauty Magnolia West immediately fell in lust. After a stunningly sensual night together, Maggie is prepared for the two of them to go their separate ways. After all, she’s not a happily-ever-after kind of girl. But Josiah—and danger—change her plans.

Josiah isn’t looking for love…but Maggie rouses his body and stirs his heart like no other woman. She’s got a rocky romantic past, and a smart man would steer clear. But when the murder quotient in Kendall County rises and all signs point to a mysterious group nearby who have been harassing Maggie’s family, he can’t leave her unprotected—especially when he realizes he’s fallen hard for her.

As tension mounts and the menace closes in, Josiah will do anything to prove to Maggie that their love is real…but can they stay alive long enough to share it?

DEVOTED TO LOVE is book two in Shayla Black’s suspense filled Devoted Lovers series and centers around Shealyn from the first book’s sister and personal assistant Maggie and security expert Josiah. A one night fling just might turn into forever when danger strikes and circumstances change.

Maggie at first seems like a put-together character, but as we get to know her better, we see the flaws that stem from her tumultuous childhood and how she goes about trying to make herself whole. Some will find it hard to forgive her misdeeds, but I found her redeemable.

Josiah was an easy character to like. He was there to help out a friend, and meeting Maggie brought a newness to his life that he wasn’t expecting. He spotlights his dependability and strength around every turn and watching their connection grow is rewarding.

I recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a good bit of suspense with their romance. Both books in the series so far have been solid reads.
