He hopes he won’t hit a roadblock in getting to know this little boy.

Skye Tomlinson has a chip on her shoulder from a past relationship, so she’s not sure she can trust this stranger that has all of a sudden contacted her with a story about knowing Connor’s father. Her cousin has left her in a pickle by leaving the baby in her care on top of caring for her recovering Mom, and the ailing family business, so in all honesty she can use all of the help she can get.

Very unique back story! It’s not unusual to find a virginal bride in a Harlequin Presents plot, but the past of this heroine made her even more innocent and easy to take into a reader’s heart. I really enjoyed watching him take her under his wing and their affection for each other grow into a red-hot love affair!

Gabriel Dean receives correspondence that his grandmother is dying and heads to Singapore to get her affairs in order. Upon arrival, he finds that her assistant is a waif of a young lady who has handled the day to day workings of his grandmother’s fortune with the utmost of care and is now locking him out of having access until she gets her demands met. He finds her amusing and agrees to play her little game temporarily!

Lucrecia Cruz knows she has no other option than to make sure her place in this world is secure or she’ll disappear into nothingness. She doesn’t really want to harm Gabriel or his grandmother’s memory, but she sees no other option than the one she’s taking. They are faced with adversity, but attraction wins out when they can’t resist starting a relationship even though they are at odds and keeping secrets. The intrigue was spot on, the relationship heartfelt and overall I loved their story!

Rookie cop Violet Hawks takes her job seriously, so when she apprehends a dangerously fast speeder in her hometown of Indian Lake, Indiana and he gives her flack, she doesn’t hesitate to cuff him and take him in … no matter who he is!

“Do you know what a Bugatti Chiron costs?” Trent Davis asked as he paced his office while Violet stood near his desk. Many times in the past she’d felt like running from confrontation, but this time wasn’t one of them. Deep in her belly, as much as Chief Williams and Detective Davis believed she’d bungled this assignment, she knew she was right. Josh Stevens might be a celebrity. He had fame, fortune and influence. Violet remembered how fast the Bugatti had streamed past her. She knew what a Maserati looked like. But she’d never seen a Bugatti Chiron. They were both fast cars. It was an understandable mistake.

She promised herself that over the weekend she’d comb the internet for images of every expensive car made. She’d log them into her brain and the next time a Bugatti sailed past her, she’d know what she was looking at.

Trent was still pacing.

“What color is the Maserati, sir?”

Trent halted, lifted his head and cleared his throat. “Blue.”

Violet’s eyebrow cranked up in surprise, and she quickly corrected her expression. Blue. Well, she had that one right.

“The bottom line is that I’m disappointed in your work. The next time I give you an assignment, you carry it out.”

“Sir. Yes, sir.”

“Dismissed.”

Violet turned sharply and left the office. She went straight to her desk, avoiding Sal’s and Trey’s eyes. Trey was getting coffee, which was odd, because he didn’t drink coffee.

Violet halted like someone kicked her in the back. It was probably for Josh.

She couldn’t forget the look in his eyes when she’d put him in the cell.

Josh was her first lockup. Her first arrest.

As she’d ushered him into the cell, she’d felt her heart squeeze in her chest. Two steps inside the cell, his broad shoulders had slumped and his face had gone ashen.

Shockingly, he’d thanked her.

Why?

What kind of man thanked an officer for showing him his limitations? His vulnerability?

Electrifyingly sultry! With the final book in the Bear Bottom Guardians MC series, we finally get the story of the man who’s intrigued us since the start of the series. Slate is finally home and setting out to start his life over. He has a lot of ghosts to revisit in his old life on his journey, but the future is looking brighter than it has in a long time. This book brings us his story and gives us the chance to see a lot of familiar faces from previous books and see how some of their lives are flourishing. I really enjoyed this series as a whole, and this book was a lot of fun to read.

Former cop Slate Solis is finally free. For the first time in a decade, he’s out in the world and able to live his life again. He knows committing murder was the wrong thing to do, but in the heat of the moment after watching his partner and fiancee die before his eyes, he needed retribution. He can’t honestly regret it.

The one thing he’s going to miss about prison is the gorgeous woman who caught his eye while visiting a friend about three years ago. She’s been a pleasant distraction on visiting day ever since, and he is going to miss seeing her. Or he thought he was … until he realizes she’s living right next door to him … with her husband! Normally close and supportive, they find themselves straying and not being as happy go lucky with each other at the moment. A clingy, self-righteous mother tops off the cast and brings yet another perspective into an already chaotic life. I really enjoyed the book!

She’s basking in her own glory and about to embark on a grand vacation with her adoring husband when it all explodes in her face just before she’s about to go on live television. Her husband drops the bombshell on her that he’s been adoring someone else, and she’s literally steps away from interviewing the pop sensation trollop on her talk show!

When the guy she’s been casually dating wants to move forward with her, she fails to keep the disdain from her face and he ends up dropping her quicker than she can turn around instead. Owen felt his mouth curve into a grin as he heard the familiar clap, clap, clap behind him.

That was one of his favorite sounds—high heels on the wooden dock of the Boys of the Bayou swamp boat tour company.

He took his time turning and once he did, he started at the shoes.

They were black and showed off bright red toenails. The straps wrapped sexily around trim ankles and led the eye right up to smooth, toned calves. The heels matched the black polka dots on the white skirt that thankfully didn’t start until mid-thigh, and showed off more tanned skin.

He straightened from his kneeling position in one of the boats as his eyes kept moving up past the skirt to the bright red belt that accentuated a narrow waist and then to the silky black tank that molded to a pair of perfect breasts.

He was fully anticipating her lips being bright red to go with that belt and her toenail polish. God, he loved red lipstick. And high heels. In any color.

But before he could get to those lips, she used them, to say, “Oh, dammit, it’s you.”

Owen’s gaze bypassed her mouth to fly to her eyes. Because he’d know that voice anywhere.

Madison Allain was home.

A day early.

Not that an extra day would have helped him prepare. He’d been thinking about her visit for a week and was still as wound tight about it as he’d been when Sawyer, his business partner and cousin, had told him that she was coming home. For a month.

Owen stood just watching her, fighting back all of the first words that he was tempted to say.

Like, “Damn, you’re even more gorgeous than the last time I saw you.”

Or, “I haven’t put anyone in the hospital lately.”

Or, “I’ve missed you so fucking much.”

Just for instance.

She blew out a breath and now he did focus on her lips.

Yep, red. Terrific. That wasn’t going to make ignoring them any easier.

“I was hoping you were Sawyer,” she said, propping a hand on her hip.

Owen tossed the wrench he held into the toolbox at his feet. “Nope. Sorry.” So she wasn’t happy to see him. Big shocker. He hadn’t always been the perfect Southern gentleman around Maddie, that was for sure.

He wiped his hands on his jeans. Okay, he was supposed to be niceto her. That meant treating her like she was one of the tourists who frequented this dock. Polite. Friendly, but not I’ve-known-you-my-whole-life-and-kissed-you-a-whole-bunch friendly. Just mildly hey-how’s-it-goin’ friendly. So that she didn’t sell off her portion of the business that not only fed him and his other two partners, but that was their pride and joy. And the only thing he was really good at.

Nice. Polite. A little friendly—but not too much. He could do that.

Annoyed that within thirty seconds of seeing her again he was already thinking about kissing her, he kicked the toolbox, trying to slide it into the nook under the bow of the boat. Of course, he kicked it too hard and it tipped, spilling tools over the floor of the boat with loud clangs of metal against metal.

He shoved a hand through his hair. That was typical. Everything was an overreaction when it came to how he acted around Maddie. Even the little stuff. Certainly the big stuff. Always had been.

“Sawyer’s over at Ellie’s.” Owen pulled himself up out of the boat and onto the dock.

That took him about two feet closer to her and he instantly became aware that he wasn’t wearing a shirt. Very aware as Maddie’s eyes tracked over his shoulders, chest and abs.

The heat that arrowed through him was unwelcome. Though not unexpected. There had always been this crazy chemistry between them. Key word: crazy.
