Cash loves his job as a firefighter and tactical medic, so when the promotion he’s been vying for is snatched up by returning Emmy, he’s spitting nails. Sweet, subtle and satisfying! Seeing several of the past couples from previous books in this series is always a fun update. Josie and Zach had a lot of potential, but somehow they just fell flat. More depth to their relationship was needed to really grab my attention and make me become ingrained in their story. Still an entertaining read, just not awe inspiring.

Teacher Josie Barnes has finally found a slice of happiness in Hope, Oklahoma. She has a job she enjoys, a house of her own and a really great group of friends. She’s overcome many obstacles to get to where she is today and she’s finally satisfied. What’s she’s missing though, is the hottie she flirts with on occasion at friendly get togethers! If she could find a way to add him to her list of achievements, she’d be complete.

Former football player Zach Powers might have had his journey cut short with an injury, but he’s loving life as a teacher and football coach in Hope. A great group of friends and a homey town makes for a great setting. He can’t deny he has eyes on the pretty language arts teacher though … if only he could get her to stop benching his players for their grades in her class. She’s driving him crazy … in more ways than one!

“Want to know why we broke up?” she burst out, unable to listen to another second of his veiled accusations.

“Ye—”

“Because he wouldn’t accept my sister. He kicked her out of the house and didn’t care how much that hurt her. When she hurts, I hurt twice as much. Ten times.” Her words were stumbling over themselves in her passion. The harsh look on his face had vanished, and he was listening with complete and close attention.

“He only wanted me for arm-candy, that’s all. He thought I’d be happy he bothered with me, a complete nobody with a sister in a wheelchair, always scrambling between paychecks, working two jobs, sometimes three—”

“I’m sorry.” He reached out and caught her against him. Her breath caught in a hiccup of shock.

“I could have stayed, if I didn’t care about my sister, and I’d already signed his stupid prenup anyway, if that’s what you’re so worried—”

“Then I’m sorry.” He dropped his arms back to his sides, causing her heart to leap into her throat again. The air hummed between them. Somewhere outside, a guest shouted something and a car started up. “As for kissing you, I guess I’m not as sorry as I should be.”

Rock on! It’s always a joy to revisit the guys of Shaughnessy and get the lowdown on what’s going on in all of their lives, and it’s especially special to get updates on the Shaughnessy family that we’ve loved over the years. Julian was different than I was expecting him to be … mostly because he hit a wall and had to face the mess his life had become before we got to know his story instead of coming in when he was in his spotlight. I didn’t connect with him as much as I have some of the other guys, but I still enjoyed his story and watching him work the long road towards his happily ever after. Really great series!

He’s on the trail of the man he will stop at nothing to catch when he hears from Petra. He starts to investigate and wonders if her problems might actually bring him closer to the man he’s determined to catch!

The characters are well developed and each bring their own backstory to draw us into the plot. He’s living a life of guilt and misery, stuck in the past and she’s trying to spread her wings and be the person she’s always dreamed of being for the first time in her life. And the best part of all, there’s an adorable little boy who will steal your heart! If you read Regina Kyle’s previous book with Entangled, you’ll see a familiar face in this story as Mallory is Brooke from that book’s sister. I didn’t think Brooke and Eli could be beat, but I loved Mallory, Rhys and Oliver even more. Highly recommend!

Chef Mallory Worthington is sick and tired of being coddled. Yes, she had cancer as a child and fought a long, hard battle to beat it, but she’s been in remission for years, so she’s tired of her parents trying to make her live in a bubble. When she finds an out of state job opportunity as a chef and nanny, she jumps at the chance to get out of New York for awhile and stop working for her parents.

Billionaire Rhys Dalton became somewhat of a recluse after his wife was killed and he took his son to live on a private island off of the Florida Keys. He will do everything in his power to keep his child safe from the ugliness of the world around them. When he sees that the new nanny he hired isn’t the elderly, grandmotherly type he was expecting, he fires Mallory on the spot! He changes his mind of course when he sees how interacting with her brings his son a joy he hasn’t seen him exhibit in a very long time. Now if only he could resist the temptation of such a beautiful woman within touching distance!

Small town mayhem! With a the departure of the norm, Michelle Major brings us a new cozy small town to fall in love with, Stonecreek, Oregon .. but with a twist! Maggie and Griffin get three books instead of one! It’s not what we’re used to, but I can see potential greatness with having this much time to develop their relationship. We don’t get the traditional happily ever after in this book, but we get another book starring the same two characters over the next two months to enjoy. Overall, this book was fast paced, had a lot of drama developed into a short time, and gave us a good foundation to build this union. I’m enjoying it and looking forward to book two!
