A hot, funny brother’s best friend rom com . . . with sugar on top!

She's his best friend's little sister. He's known her all his life. He's practically part of the family. There is nothing either of them could do to surprise the other at this point. Then she showed up in his bedroom in lingerie and asked him to take her V-card.

Okay, that was a surprise.

Aiden is pretty sure Zoe was equally surprised when he told her no.

To say that he didn't handle it well would be a massive understatement. Almost as massive as the amount of work he's going to have to do now to convince her that he wants her. Forever.

Right after he tells her that he's bought the company that's her bakery’s biggest competitor.

Maybe if he tells her he’s in love with her first, that will help sugarcoat the whole we're-rivals-in-business-now thing.
So, first "I'm in love with you", then "take off your clothes", then "I'm now your business adversary".

Sure. Piece of cake.

Delectably sweet! With the kick-off to her brand new Hot Cakes series, Erin Nichols thrills readers once again with a yummy brother’s best friend rom-com yet steamy delight in SUGARCOATED. The characters draw your attention instantly, there’s a whole lot of laughter and heart throughout and it’s just downright FUN to read.

Zoe was a complex character. She is giving her bakery her all and carrying on traditions that have been in her family for years, but she’s sort of stuck in a rut. She wants excitement, but she’s afraid to reach for it. Aiden brings out a different side to her and helps her develop that adventurous side.

Aiden was simply delightful. Yes, he’s keeping secrets that he should have told from the very beginning, but he’s so sweet and down-to-earth, how can I hold it against him? I really enjoyed watching him reach for the stars.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves a close-knit friends and family small town romance with a major kick of heat, heart and humor. I see the potential for great things with this cast of supporting characters … can’t wait for more!

Excerpt:

“What?” she asked, her eyes wide and blinking. “You thought I’d just be waiting around for you to come back?”

“Yes!” It was the wrong answer, he knew, even as he said it. But it was true.

“You are so full of yourself!” She frowned. “You actually thought I’d be waiting around, pining for you, didn’t you?”

Maybe not crying herself to sleep every night, but thinking about him? Yeah. Fuck. He hadn’t been able to get her out of his mind for more than a few hours at a time. “It’s only been five months,” he said. “Is it really crazy for me to think that you didn’t get your virginity ‘taken care of’ yet?”

“Exactly! It’s been five months!” she said.

“You went twenty-five years without sex, and you couldn’t go five more months?”

“Well, it’s not like you gave me an IOU!” she shot back. “I had no idea when you were coming back, and I assumed your answer would have still been no. So yeah, I moved on, Aiden.”

“Who was it?” he asked, noting his tone was suddenly a little ominous.

“I’m not telling you that.” She looked at him like he was insane.

“Tell me, Zoe.”

No.”

“I’ll find out. This is Appleby. I’ll probably know by the end of tonight.”

“You won’t.” She lifted her chin. “I can promise you that.”

“Bet I do.”

“Why do you really even care? Now you don’t have to do it.”

“Because you’re mine.”

Yeah, shit. See, he’d known that was the wrong answer to give. Guys didn’t go around claiming women like they were property or possessions. He knew that. He’d never had that urge before. This woman was strong and independent and confident and certainly didn’t need him for anything.

But the idea of another man touching her, seeing her naked, making her feel the ultimate pleasure, made his blood boil.

She stood, just staring at him. Then she picked up a cake ball. And threw it at him. It hit him square in the red tie and bounced back onto the table.

“You’re a jerk.”

Yeah, maybe he was. A nice guy would probably just take all her explanations and excuses about why they shouldn’t be together and admit his idea was crazy.

He didn’t say anything. He didn’t wipe away the sticky crumbs the cake ball left on his tie. He picked up the ball and rounded the worktable.

Her eyes widened, and she backed up as he came closer. He kept going. Until her back was against the front of the fridge.

He didn’t say a word as he stopped right in front of her, lifted his hand to cup her face, and leaned in.

Aiden ignored her hands on his chest. She wasn’t pushing. She wasn’t pulling him closer either, but she wasn’t trying to get away. She wasn’t lifting her knee to his balls. She wasn’t saying no.

He stared into her eyes for a long moment. She could stop this. He knew she knew that.

She didn’t.

So he kissed her.

All Kendall Barnes wants is a nice relaxing cruise to reconnect with her friends from college. Instead, they’re mistakenly booked on a singles’ cruise. Despite this series of unfortunate events, Kendall is determined to follow through on her original plan… At least until she meets a gorgeous stranger who might just be enough to tempt her into breaking all her rules.

Alex Jeffries is on his first vacation in over ten years, and he hates every second of it. He can’t stop thinking about what could be going wrong with the bar he owns back home, at least until he meets Kendall and forgets about everything but kissing her. Maybe a party cruise wasn’t the worst idea after all…

Kendall and Alex embark on a sexy fling, but it only takes a few days for the truth to sink in. The mind-blowing chemistry between them is only getting stronger, and despite the expiration date they both agreed on, they can’t help wondering if this vacation fling can go the distance…

Or are they destined to crash and burn when they come back to reality?

Explosive chemistry right from the start! With the kick-off book in the highly anticipated Gone Wild series, Katee Robert brings us Kendall’s story in KISSING KENDALL. The heat between these two is off the charts and their story was a lot of fun to read. I did feel there was a noticeable lack of interaction between the friends which is the only thing that would have made the book feel even more complete.

Kendall was super easy to like and sympathize with when she discovers the relaxing cruise she planned to re-connect with her friends from college is going to be far from relaxing because they accidentally got put on a singles party cruise!

Alex is pretty irresistible … for Kendall and for the reader. He’s a workaholic and from the start is worrying about getting back to the family bar that he runs, but he quickly recognizes his good fortune when things start to heat up between them.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a steaming hot tryst that accidentally turns into forever. Great characters, a perfect setting and lots of emotions running high. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Lauren Taylor isn't thinking about love, especially not with the impossibly attractive man she accidentally spilled coffee all over. He's out of her league and she's focused on finishing her oncology pharmacy residency. She's sworn off men who are too handsome for their own good, anyway.

Andrew Bishop can't stop thinking about the gorgeous redhead who crashed into him and then disappeared, even though he should have way more on his mind - like dealing with his Hodgkin Lymphoma diagnosis and finishing out his last year in law school. When Andrew and Lauren run into each other at the cancer center where she's working and he's being treated, they try to keep it professional. They can be friends, and nothing more.

But sometimes life has other plans…

A heartfelt debut! With her first novel, Allison Ashley wasn’t afraid to go big! It’s rare the taboo subject of cancer is front and center in a romance novel because let’s be honest, there’s not a lot of laughter surrounding it, but Ms. Ashley delights with a fresh voice who not only shares a touch of what a day in a life is like, but also proves that life isn’t over just because of a diagnosis. I felt the new authorness slightly in the lack of development here and there, but overall, it was a stellar kick off and I look forward to seeing more from this author!

Lauren’s character is easy to like. She’s steps away from the job she’s been dreaming of as an oncology pharmacist when she accidentally falls for an almost patient. Her turmoil is sincere, but their connection is hard to resist.

Andrew is such a down-to-earth likable guy. He’s at the prime of his life and almost to achieve the law degree he’s been working hard towards for years when he receives the devastating news that he has cancer. Meeting Lauren on his first day of treatment gives him the distraction to deliver the strength needed to make it through.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an instant connection and perseverance to let love win. It’s a touchy subject, but it’s written really well and it’s not portrayed as a huge book of sadness. It brings realness to a sensitive time and brings out the beauty of human connection. Really enjoyed Lauren and Andrew!
