When you play both sides

…there’s always a price

Ty Redhorse is tied to both sides of the law. Now he’s caught between the tribe’s gang and his cop brother—and the FBI wants him to choose. Complicating the stakes is Beth Hoosay, the stunning FBI agent who always follows the rules…except when it comes to their sizzling attraction. But how long can Ty play this dangerous game before he gets caught in the cross fire?

Powerful conclusion of the Apache Protectors: Wolf Den series! Jenna Kernan has kept our interest high throughout this entire series as we followed along trying to figure out who was behind the surrogacy ring and whether they would be able to rescue all of their missing tribe members before it was too late. In this final book in the series, we get Ty Redhorse’s story. We’ve seen him in each of his brother’s stories and know that he’s been somewhat affiliated with the gang for many years, yet is always there to help his family no matter what the issue might be. We finally get to know Ty and what his choices have been all about, and we get to watch him fall for the least expected woman he could have found. Great story!

Ty Redhorse has been playing fast and loose with both sides of the law for awhile now. He calls in favors when he needs to from the head of the gang, someone he loosely calls a friend, and yet he’s been there on more than one occasion to help his family out, even his law enforcing brother Jake. Now the FBI thinks they have him where they want him and are turning the screws to get him to cooperate with their investigation, but he’s not going down that easily!

FBI agent Beth Hoosay is coming to Turquoise Canyon to go undercover alongside Ty to try to get the info they need to knock down this surrogacy ring once and for all. She goes into it thinking Ty is nothing more than a lying common criminal, but as they lean on each other more and more during this case, she starts to see the reasons why he’s made the choices he has in life. Family love can be a powerful thing!

His son and daughter—

They are her family, too

Christina Braswell would do anything for her divorced best friend’s kids, including help their father. Park ranger and sudden single dad Brett Hendrix inspires trust and has everyone’s back. But Christina’s torn between loyalty and a deepening attachment to the handsome Sweetwater, Tennessee, lawman. Brett’s not making it any easier—Christina’s finally feeling as if she belongs somewhere.

A heartfelt journey of love and healing! With the next book in her Otter Lake Ranger Station series, Cheryl Harper brings us a story filled with family turmoil, second chances and happily ever afters. The characters are quick to draw us into their plight, and the story line moves easily throughout the book. I especially enjoyed the complexity of the kids in the story.

Christina Braswell is just living life one day at a time, struggling to get by like the rest of us. She really doesn’t need an added dose of drama in her life, but with Leanne as her best friend, she often gets it! This time she’s gone too far, and Chris is spitting mad … but when she hears Leanne’s kids need her, she’s going to be there in a heartbeat … they’re her family!

Park ranger Brett Hendrix doesn’t miss the drama his ex-wife Leanne used to bring to his life one bit, but he sure does miss the help with the parental duties! He’s trying his hardest to be everything his son and daughter need, but occasionally he falls short. When disaster strikes and he has no one else to call, he sucks up his pride and calls on Christina for help … he knows he’s pushed her away a lot in life, but one thing he knows for sure is that she adores his kids.

A beguiling painting holds the secrets of a woman’s past and calls into question everything she thought she knew about the man she loved…

Nearly sixty years ago, renowned London artist Patrick Adams painted his most famous work: a portrait of his beloved Emma Temple, a fellow bohemian with whom he shared his life. Years after Patrick’s death, ninety-year-old Emma still has the painting hanging over her bed at their country home as a testament to their love.

To Emma’s granddaughter, Laura, the portrait is also a symbol of so much to come. The masterpiece is serving as collateral to pay Laura’s tuition at a prestigious music school. Then the impossible happens when an appraiser claims the painting is a fraud. For Laura, the accusation jeopardizes her future. For Emma, it casts doubt on everything she believed about her relationship with Patrick. Laura is determined to prove that Patrick did indeed paint the portrait. Both her grandmother’s and Patrick’s legacies are worth fighting for.

As the stories of two women entwine, it’s time for Emma to summon up the past—even at the risk of revealing its unspoken secrets.

An emotional journey of everlasting love! When faced with the possibility that something she believed to be true might have been far fetched, a woman travels through her memories to recall the love story that defined her life. Going back and forth between present time and the past, we learn about the life that Emma lived and watch her granddaughter try to secure the truth for her. The characters are well developed and the storyline is intriguing. We are left wondering until the very end what truly happened, and it doesn’t disappoint in the emotion and depth of mystery. There was a little lag in parts that could have been improved upon, but overall, a really stunning read!

Emma Temple has lived a full life filled with love, loss and accomplishment. She’s happy to fill her artistic heart with the painting that has brought her joy throughout so many of her ninety years along with loving memories of the past. When a scandal makes it’s way into her life, she’s left bewildered and doubting things she thought were true from the past. Could it be possible that the portrait the love of her life, Patrick Adams painted and gifted to her wasn’t actually his work?

Laura Taylor trusted in her grandmother’s painting enough to secure a student loan to attend a prestigious school of music using it’s value to secure the funds. Now that it’s validity is in question thanks to an art dealer, she’s struggling to figure out how to prove it is authentic. She’s on the verge of losing everything, and if she finds out that Patrick didn’t actually paint the gift of love he bestowed upon her grandmother, it will break Em’s heart!

Loving her is the biggest fight of his life…

Home from the Marines, Noah Cortez has a secret he doesn’t want his oldest friend, Kristina Moore, to know. It kills him to push her away, especially when he’s noticing just how sexy and confident she’s become in his absence. But, angry and full of fight, he’s not the same man anymore either. Which is why Warrior Fight Club sounds so good.

Kristina loves teaching, but she wants more out of life. She wants Noah—the boy she’s crushed on and waited for. Except Noah is all man now—in ways both oh so good and troubling, too. Still, she wants who he’s become—every war-hardened inch. And when they finally stop fighting their attraction, it’s everything Kristina never dared hope for.

But Noah is secretly spiraling, and when he lashes out, it threatens what he and Kristina have found. The brotherhood of the fight club helps him confront his demons, but only Noah can convince the woman he loves that he’s finally ready to fight for everything.

Gritty, emotionally raw and oh so powerful! With the kick-off to a new series, Laura Kaye is capturing the brutally ugly side of veteran PTSD and trying to integrate back into a life that no longer feels like home. It’s an emotional roller coaster as we watch his suffering and feel his pain. The characters were both really easy to connect with, and the story line was fast paced and addictive. I would have liked to have seen a little more of them once they got together, but hopefully we’ll see tidbits throughout the series. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to Billy’s story!

Teacher Kristina Moore is thrilled to have her best friend home after the scare of almost losing him while he served his country. She can’t wait to start hanging out with him again. She adores him … more than he even knows. They’ve been best friends forever, but the things she’s feeling for him now that he’s back in town and all grown up are a lot more than friendly!

Former Marine Noah Cortez is not adjusting well to civilian life. He knows his friends and family love him, and are trying to be patient with him but that just drives him even more up the wall than he already is. He’s depressed and spiraling, he can’t do any of the things he used to be able to do in the same way, and man, he’s angry … really, really angry! Will this new fight club help him release the anger enough that he can pull himself together enough to have the life he’s starting to want with Kristina … or will his anger and attitude push her away once and for all?

FIGHTING FOR EVERYTHING EXCERPT
LAURA KAYE

“All done,” Noah said. He gently applied tape to hold the bandage in place, but with the way the back of her hand was swelling, there wasn’t any safe place to press. Sonofabitch. He couldn’t believe this had happened to her. And on his watch.

“You’re taking really good care of me, Noah. Thank you,” Kristina said with a small smile.

“I will always take care of you,” he bit out. And then he realized what he said, and just how vehemently he’d said it. And damn if it hadn’t sounded a whole lot more than friendly. He chanced a glance at Kristina, and it was clear that she’d registered something in his tone, too. He threw away the trash and sat against the edge of the desk. “Why don’t you sit with the ice for a few minutes?”

She rose and stood right in front of him, her pretty eyes even with his given how he was leaning. “I don’t need to sit,” she said in a low voice, her gaze boring into his.

“Well, I need you to sit. So sit.”

Her eyebrow went up. Just the one.

Under other circumstances it might’ve made him laugh. Could she ever just fucking listen to him? But he was wound so tight over witnessing her getting hurt, over the idea that it could’ve been so much worse, over seeing her spilled blood, that it was all he could do not to redecorate Mr. Johnson’s office along the lines of his shower wall. He was nearly vibrating with pent-up frustration.

And now Kristina was boxing him in, observing him too closely, not giving him an out.

“Here’s the part where I’m gonna say ‘thank you,’ and you’re going to say ‘you’re welcome.’ Ready? Thank you for protecting me and taking care of me, Noah.” Her expression was expectant, and not a little amused.

Something about her playfulness wound him a notch tighter. Because he wasn’t playing. His gaze dropped from her eyes to her full pink lips, and desire sucker-punched him so hard he nearly gasped. “Does your mouth hurt?” he rasped.

“Why would my—”

Noah was on her in a flash. Hand cupping the side of her face, arm hauling her tight up against him, mouth claiming hers on a deep, needful, soul-healing kiss. Kristina’s muscles braced in surprise, but then she melted against him, going soft and pliant against all his hardness. And he was hard. So hard, so on edge, so in need of release, that he could’ve spun her around, lifted her onto the desk, and buried himself deep right here and right now.

He needed to be more gentle with her, but the need roaring through him wouldn’t allow him to slow down or back off. And her eager responsiveness didn’t help, either.

Her good hand fisted in his hair, her mouth sucked maddeningly at his tongue, and her body writhed against his erection. And goddamn the noises she was making, because the desperate moans and little mewls of need were hot as fuck, every one stroking his cock and making him harder.

Instinct told Noah that Kristina wouldn’t hinder him playing out his little fantasy on the desk.

Except she was hurt. And they were in a fucking sub shop. Annnd, he couldn’t forget about what was behind door number three—they were supposed to be Just. Friends.

“Shit,” he rasped. “I did it again.”

She grasped at his face. “Yes, thank you for that, too. Keep doing it.” Kristina went in for another kiss. This time, her tongue penetrated him, like she wanted to fight him for control. And hell if that didn’t set off all kinds of heat inside him.

He flipped them around and pinned her to the desk, nearly leaning her backwards over it. The position brought his hard-on flush with that sweet, hot spot between her legs. She cried out and tried to grind against him, but his weight and her skirt kept her pinned tight.

Hurt. Sub shop. Friends.

“Shit, wait.” He stepped back, putting space between them. Because he didn’t think he’d have the strength to resist a third time. Especially when she stared at him with such abject fucking need, her cheeks flush with desire, her hair mussed from his hands, her luscious breasts heaving under that clingy V-neck top. “You’re hurt.”

“And?” Kristina asked.

Noah glared. “Kristina, I’m kinda on the edge here, if you can’t tell.”

She slipped up onto the desk and spread her legs, just the little bit the skirt allowed.

One night…

That could change her life forever!

In this Hot Greek Docs story, when an earthquake hits the Greek island of Mythelios, nurse Cailey Tomaras rushes to help—only to encounter childhood crush Dr. Theo Nikolaides! As the trauma fades, they find comfort between the sheets… But when Cailey realizes the consequences of that night, she must prove to lone wolf Theo that he’d make the perfect dad.

With the first book in the new Hot Greek Docs series, Annie O’Neil brings us Dr. Theo Nikolaides’s story. He doesn’t think he’s cut out to be a family man, so when a short-lived fling leads to a baby, he’s not exactly thrilled about the situation. The ground work was laid well for each book to come in the series by giving tidbits of info on the partnership they all share in the clinic and glimpses into what the other guys do elsewhere. I’m looking forward to reading more!

When nurse Cailey Tomaras hears that a terrible earthquake has hit the Greek island she calls home, she heeds the call for help and rushes home to help her countrymen. She thought she was prepared for seeing Theo again but he is even more potent in person than she remembered! She doesn’t fit into his world, but that never stopped her heart falling for him!

Doctor Theo Nikolaides went against his high society family to run the clinic on Mythelios so there would be medical care for all who needed it. Now that the earthquake has caused so many injuries, he needs every helping hand he can get. He’s thrilled to see Cailey, but is met with a lukewarm greeting from her. Evidently things happened before she left the island that he wasn’t in the know about … can he convince her that he’s not such a bad guy after all?

He’s her enemy…

…and she must not fall for him!

When her mistress is claimed as an enemy knight’s betrothed, handmaiden Aelfhild knows it would be too dangerous for her lady; she must go in her place. But there’s more to the scarred knight than she first thought—she isn’t expecting to fall for him! As the line between friend and enemy blurs, Aelfhild realizes she might be protecting her mistress, but not her heart…

Falling for the wrong knight! The beginning of the story is a tad confusing, as is trying to follow who is being talked about on the trip because of the swtich-a-roo but once you get the characters and setting down pat, it’s a very enjoyable book! The characters are drawn to each other even though they think they’re each someone else, so watching them try to fight the temptation of their attraction is entertaining. I enjoyed seeing what came of all four of them in the end!

Feisty handmaiden Aelfhild isn’t willing to let her friend Lady Sigrun be at the mercy of an enemy Knight even though he tells a story of her mother promoting their marriage. She steps forward and takes her place on the long journey home, but never expects to start falling for the scarred man herself!

When Guilherm FitzLannion is sent to claim the betrothed bride of his lord Gilbert du Rospez, he never expects to encounter such an outspoken lady. He doesn’t understand why her companion is so meek while she is the one to step forth and lead the charge when they face danger along the way, but he finds himself falling for her even though she’s promised to his best friend!

He must face his own demons

To rescue his childhood friend

Dade Butler’s father ruled with an iron fist. Carrie Palmer was bounced around the foster system. But they found solace as childhood friends. Neither imagined their grown-up reunion would involve the six-foot-four handsome rancher rescuing Carrie from a would-be assault. But when a stalker nearly kills Carrie, Dade will stop at nothing to save her—and turn this friendship into a permanent relationship.

Childhood best friends reunite in a captivating mystery! With the latest in her Crisis: Cattle Barge series, author Barb Han brings us the next Butler sibling’s story. Dade was the best of friends with Carrie when they were young, but then life changes and teenage strife separated them. Circumstances bring them together again, and he won’t make the mistake of not being there to support a friend this time … and based on their reaction to each other, she might not just be a friend for much longer! The development of their relationship could have been a little stronger, but the whodunnit aspect of the plot carried the book well. Overall a great read!

Recently discharged from the military, Dade Butler is feeling a bit at odds with life at the moment. He’s returned home to Cattle Barge, Texas after his father’s murder and is trying to settle into life on the ranch again amidst all of the family drama. When he meets up with Carrie Palmer after all of these years at just the right time to rescue her from a hairy situation, he sets out to make sure she remains safe.

Carrie Palmer has been bounced around a lot during her life, and the one place she always thought of as a safe haven was Cattle Barge. She’s been doing well since returning and setting up shop, but all of a sudden a stalker, a would-be suitor and the town in general is closing in around her and making it a dangerous place to be. Will Dade be able to keep her safe from the danger … and win her heart in the process?
