The perfect summer escape?

Professional dog-walker Felicity Knight loves everything about New York…until her ex-husband starts working at her local vet clinic. She hasn't seen Seth Carlyle in ten years, but one glimpse of him—too gorgeous, and still too good for her—and Fliss's heart hurts like their whirlwind marriage ended yesterday. So when her grandmother in the Hamptons needs help for the summer, it seems the ideal way to escape her past.

Their relationship might have lasted only a few scorching months, but vet Seth knows Fliss—if she's run away to the Hamptons, it's because she still feels their connection and it terrifies her. He let her go once before, when he didn't know any better, but not this summer! With the help of his adorable dog, Lulu, and a sprinkling of beachside magic, Seth is determined to make Fliss see that he's never stopped loving her…

A delightful read perfect for a lazy day on the beach!  A short-lived whirlwind of a marriage when they were young left Felicity Knight and Seth Carlyle guarding their wounded hearts as they each went on with their own lives. Lack of communication doomed them before they even began. This is a sweet, yet somewhat frustrating reunion. Seth was easy to love, and Fliss was easy to sympathize with, but I still found myself wanting to shake some sense into her a couple of times. 🙂

A decade has passed since Fliss and Seth were married. They barely had time to blink before it was all over and they were living separate lives. Now she’s a professional dog walker, and he’s a veterinarian who is crossing her path again. Will they finally be able say the things they left unsaid and have a little peace from the end of their relationship? And when old feelings flare up, will they decide they were worth a second chance?

YOU SAY IT FIRST Synopsis:

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Fool’s Gold romances invites you to visit Happily Inc, a wedding destination founded on a fairy tale…

Sculptor Nick Mitchell grew up in a family of artists and learned from his volatile father that passion only leads to pain. As he waits on a new commission, he takes a day job as a humble carpenter at a theme wedding venue. The job has its perks–mainly the venue’s captivating owner, Pallas Saunders. Although he won’t let love consume him, for ecstasy with an expiration date, he’s all in.

Pallas adores Weddings in a Box. But if she can’t turn the floundering business around, she’ll have no choice but to cave to her domineering mother and trade taffeta for trust funds working at the family’s bank. Then when a desperate bride begs Pallas for something completely out of the box, her irresistible new hire inspires her. Nick knows she doesn’t belong behind a desk, and she knows in her heart that he’s right—where she really belongs is in his arms.

EXCERPT

“Don’t take this wrong, but I really need you to take off your shirt.”

Pallas Saunders winced as she said the words—this was so not how she usually conducted an interview. But desperate times and all that.

Nick Mitchell raised his eyebrows. “Excuse me?”

A valid semiquestion and certainly better than simply bolting which, hey, he could have done.

“It’s an emergency,” she said, waving her hand in what she hoped was a can we please move this along gesture.

“I’m going to need more than that.”

“Fine.” She drew in a breath, then began talking. Fast. “I have a wedding in less than an hour and I’m one Roman soldier short. J.T. ran off to LA because his agent called about an audition. Note to self. Do not hire actors during pilot season. Anyway, I need a Roman soldier. You’re about the same height as the other guys and you’re here because you need a job, so take your shirt off, please. If you look halfway decent, I’ll sponge tan you and you’ll carry a very skinny girl in on a palanquin.”

“On what?”

“One of those sedan chair things. I swear, she probably doesn’t even weigh a hundred pounds. I don’t think she’s eaten in three months. You look strong. You’ll do great. Please? There’s a check at the end.”

Not a very big one, but money was money. And Nick Mitchell had answered her ad for a part-time carpenter, so he must be at least a little desperate for money. A feeling Pallas could so relate to.

“You want me to carry a girl in on a palanquin for her wedding?”

Why were the pretty ones always dumb, she wondered with a sigh. Because Nick certainly qualified as pretty. Tall with dark hair and eyes. His shoulders were broad and from what she could see, he looked to be in shape, so what was the big deal?

“The name of my business is Weddings in a Box.” She gestured to the walls around them. “This is box-like. People come here to get married. I do theme weddings. The couple today want a Roman wedding. You’d be stunned at how popular they are. The Roman wedding includes the palanquin for the bride. Please, I beg you. Take off your shirt.”

“You’re weird,” Nick muttered as he unbuttoned his shirt and tossed it onto her desk.

Hallelujah, she thought, walking around to view him from the back. As she’d hoped, he looked good—with broad shoulders and plenty of muscle. No massive tattoos, no ugly scars. Not that she objected to tattoos, but so few of them were Roman wedding appropriate and she really didn’t have time to do her thing with concealer. As it was, Nick would fit in with the other guys perfectly.

“You’re hired, but we have to hurry.”

He's come back to Copper Ridge, Oregon, to keep a promise—even if it means losing his heart…

Putting down roots in Copper Ridge was never Alex Donnelly's intention. But if there's one thing the ex-military man knows, it's that life rarely unfolds as expected. If it did, his best friend and brother-in-arms would still be alive. And Alex wouldn't have inherited a ranch or responsibility for his late comrade's sister—a woman who, despite her inexperience, can bring tough-as-iron Alex to his knees.

Clara Campbell didn't ask for a hero to ride in and fix her ranch and her life. All she wants is the one thing stubborn, honorable Alex is reluctant to give: a chance to explore their intense chemistry. But Clara has a few lessons to teach him, too…about trusting his heart and his instincts, and letting love take him on the wildest adventure of all.

Always fun to re-visit the Donnelly family in Copper Ridge! With this book, Maisey Yates brings us Alex’s story. He’s haunted by his past, but is determined to keep his promise to his late Army buddy and get his sister set up to prosper in the future. I liked Clara and admired her spirit after all she had lost. I enjoyed Alex, but had a little harder time connecting with him than I did with his brother’s in the past. Not my favorite in the series, but a fun read none-the-less.

Alex Donnelly never planned on putting down roots, but circumstances change on the dime in life, and he finds himself not only working with his brothers on the family ranch, but also taking over at his buddy’s family ranch for a short time to get his little sister settled.

Clara Campbell can’t believe her brother sent a keeper to take charge of her life. She doesn’t need anyone to make her face the things she’s burying her head in the sand about … but after spending some time with Alex, she wouldn’t mind him helping her do other things! Can she convince him that he’s just the one to help her enjoy life a little more?

Great friends, secret crushes and then it all exploded in their faces in a second, leaving them reeling. Two college students with a shared past have to confront the turmoil that’s always fresh in their minds in order to heal and see if they are capable of being around each other again. Great characters and a heart wrenching plot. Hoping to see more in this series!

Tyee University football player Riley Black has loved Tiff for years, but no matter how much he tried to be supportive of her and her needs, she never felt the same way. After she walked away, he spent a long time waiting for her to realize what they could have and come back … but he finally gave up and moved on with enjoying his college life and the perks of being a star athlete. Now with the turn of his head, his life has turned upside down … she’s back!

Tiffani Vernon has avoided this town and the memories it holds for as long as possible. Now because of financial issues, she is transferring to the same college where Riley goes. She is hoping to avoid him, but just her luck, she agrees to go to a party and there he is. He doesn’t know that she’s secretly been in love with him for years too … but just seeing his face brings too many visions slamming back into her head of the horror they went through together. EXCERPT

Sally Tuft awoke to a freight train running through her head and the worst cotton mouth she’d ever experienced. She lay on her back, eyes closed, trying to remember what happened last night after the conference she’d attended. Thank God what happened in Vegas stayed in Vegas, because she didn’t need her boss finding out she got rip-roaring drunk. She rolled onto her side, coming face-to-face with hot whiskey breath. Her eyes flew open and she bolted upright, clutching the sheet to her chest. Her heart pounded wildly as she took in the gorgeous sandy-haired man lying next to her. Oh shit! Shit, shit, shit!

No. This can’t be happening.

She slammed her eyes shut, trying to calm her mounting panic by breathing deeply, but that made her head hurt even worse.

Her eyes opened slowly, roving over Gage Ryder’s scruffy jaw and the full lips she’d fantasized about so many times she should be arrested. This was bad. Very bad. Gage had been her best friend and co-worker since her husband was killed in a skiing accident several years ago. And worse, he was her son’s confidant. The man whom Rusty went to with problems his father was no longer there to help him with.

Her gaze trailed over his broad shoulders and muscular chest as realization set in. She bit her lower lip, holding her breath as she lifted the sheet. Please let me have something on. At least underwear. The pit of her stomach twisted at the sight of her closer-to-forty-than-thirty, less-than-perky bare breasts, and stomach that had never quite regained its elasticity after having her now twenty-year-old son. Oh God!

Gage rolled onto his back, and her eyes were drawn to the formidable bulge lifting the sheets. Look away. Look away.

She couldn’t look away. He’d made his feelings for her clear without ever actually spelling them out. Would he mind if she looked? Oh God! I should mind! She needed to force those desires back into Ignore mode. Closing her eyes and gritting her teeth, she tried to do just that. But the urge to look was too strong, and they popped open again, drinking in every hard inch of him.

His left arm stretched over his head, coming to rest on the pillow. The other reached beneath the sheet and adjusted himself. Her nipples prickled to tight points. Now was not the time to get turned on, but she couldn’t stop staring as he sleepily pushed the sheet down his chest, revealing solid abs she’d seen a million times—but never once in bed. They were sexier than when he was playing basketball or chopping wood to heat his home. Oh God, she loved to watch him chop wood.

Her eyes moved to the other wood in sight. She heard a whimpering sound and realized it came from her. She snapped her mouth shut. She had to get out of there before he woke up and realized what they’d done.

What if he remembered what happened—or didn’t—last night? She was never going to drink again. Not in this lifetime, and definitely not with Gage Ryder.

She clutched the sheet and slid to the edge of the bed, struggling to dredge up memories of last night from the muddled recesses of her mind, but her head was spinning. At least her hangover had taken a backseat to the reality of having slept with Gage. He rolled toward her as she stepped quietly from the bed. The sheet caught beneath him and pulled from around her.  She gasped, her hands darting to cover all her private parts as Gage’s amused blue eyes opened and followed her frantic hands. A slow smile crept across his gorgeous face. She needed more hands! She yanked the sheet from the bed and turned around.

“Don’t look!” she yelled as she tried to wrap it around her. “Oh my God. Gage!”

“Sally…?”

“Don’t say a word. Wait. Please tell me we didn’t have sex. Just…” She shook her head and spun around, bringing Gage and all his naked glory into full view. For a second she was struck mute, her jaw hanging open. His thick arousal lay nestled between powerful thighs, on a manicured tuft of dirty-blond hair.

“See something you want?” Gage said with a chuckle, snapping her brain into gear.

“You’re naked!” She spun around again, breathing so hard she feared she might pass out.

“You whipped the sheet off me,” he said far too casually.

I’m naked!”

“I see that, and I prefer you without the sheet.”

“Gage!” She huffed. “Put a pillow over yourself! Cover that thing up.”

He sighed loudly and she heard the rustling of the pillow.

“Okay, Salbird. I’m covered, but given that we’re both naked, I’m pretty sure you got more than an eyeful last night.

Restless—that's businessman and biker Seth Bolton. But when he rescues runaway bride Kate Burroughs, he wants more than he should with the lush mom-to-be. He's never been one to settle down, and he already has plans to leave. The best he can offer Kate is a no-strings fling…

The runaway bride meets her match! In the latest from Sarah M. Anderson, she gives us an interesting twist. If you’re an avid reader of her books, you will recognize this family because this hero was the teenage son of a heroine in a previous book from several years back. I love that! A very cool way to get to see a family you enjoyed again, plus get to see him work his way through his own happily ever after as well. Really fun! It was a quick read and draws you in from the first page and doesn’t let you put it down until the end.

Pregnant Kate Burroughs decides at the last minute that she can’t marry her boring fiancee, so she makes a run for it and that’s how Seth Bolton finds her on the side of the road. She’s just walked away from the majority of her life and left herself in an awkward situation, but there’s got to be something better out there!

Seth Bolton has always considered himself to be restless, but that’s just the way he likes it. He already has his next jaunt mapped out, so he’s definitely not promising Kate anything close to forever, but he can give her right now if she’s interested.

A killer with nothing left to lose…

Afraid or not, Detective Bobbie Gentry has a monster to confront. The pain of losing her family and nearly her life to a criminal's vile hunger is still fresh, but now the landscape is different. Now she's not alone. Now she has Nick Shade to trust. Nick treats the terror of his past with vengeance. He's dedicated his life to hunting serial killers, and he'd give his last breath to save Bobbie. When a string of killings bloodies Savannah's elite society and causes cold cases to resurface, Bobbie is captured in a city more haunted than Nick's inescapable nightmares. And as the murderer strikes close, Nick and Bobbie will need to become even closer if they're going to survive.

Deliciously scintillating! The bodies are piling up and the mystery surrounding Bobbie and Nick just keeps getting creepier as one person after another is uncovered as having had contact with the serial killer they are hunting, but as the scenes are dissected they realize they aren’t all adding up to the same M.O. Is there something else going on here that they aren’t privy to? A great continuation of this series … and a joy to see Bobbie continuing her fight for justice!

Bobbie Gentry has fought hard to regain her life after it was derailed with the brutal of her family and her own horrendous abduction at the hands of a serial killer. She was living a very dark life until Nick Shade came into it and helped her to see past the emptiness inside herself. Now she’s willing to do anything to help Nick fight his own demons.

Nick Shade has been covertly delivering his own version of justice since his life fell apart years ago. Now he’s in Savannah as mysteries are unravelling and monsters are emerging. Will Bobbie be able to convince him to let her help get the answers he needs?

Stressed out hotel heiress Arden St. Sebastian is in Maui for one thing and one thing only. Work. But when the hottie at the bar buys her a drink to end all frilly umbrella-and-glow stick drinks, she can't help but accept his unspoken invitation. When they get back to her villa, however, and the sexy moment of truth arrives, she can't…quite…get there. Again.

ER resident Nick Bancroft can handle a night of fun, anonymous sex, but he draws the line at a fake orgasm. He makes his mystery woman a deal. He'll take care of her little stress-induced orgasm problem if she'll spend the next six days exploring the island with him, no questions asked.

A week of island relaxation on the arm of the sexiest man she's ever met? Arden's game. As long as she keeps her identity secret, she's got nothing to lose…except her heart.

When only a sexy stranger will do! Flirting leads to more than she bargained for when Arden stumbles across a man who doesn’t like to disappoint a lady. Hot sex awaits when one night leads to 6 … and more? Fun characters and a steamy read!

He offers her a crazy deal that she decides to go along with … she’ll tour the island with him for the six days that she has left in Maui and in exchange, he’ll work her through the lack of enjoyment her stress induces body has been wreaking on her of late and make sure she leaves Hawaii a very satisfied woman!
