Exciting from start to finish! We begin the latest book in Jane Godman’s Sons of Stillwater series thinking we are stepping into one story, and by the end it’s evolved into more than we ever expected! It’s exciting, real and a refreshing take on solving an in depth suspense. My favorite in the series so far! Well developed characters, a back story that’s carried forward nicely from previous books and a story all of it’s own to keep us interested. Looking forward to more to come in the series!

When Vincente Delaney’s on again/off again girlfriend disappeared a year and a half ago, he didn’t understand it, but angrily assumed she had run out on him. When new details came to light months later, they assumed she was probably dead, so to say he is shocked to learn that she’s alive and well and raising the daughter that he knew nothing about is putting it mildly!

Beth Wade was forced to leave Vincente for his own safety. She never expected to see him again, and has spent the time apart basking in the love of their innocent daughter. When Vincente finds her and brings them home to Stillwater, the danger she was running from rears it’s ugly head yet again foisting them all into the a race against time to save lives!

BOOK EXCERPT:

As he approached, he sized up the building. Nothing about it made him think of Beth. It had a slightly neglected air, as if the owner didn’t have the time, energy or money to spend on it. He contrasted that with the Stillwater house she had lived in. That had been as neat as wax. Being organized seemed to come effortlessly to Beth, spilling over into how she dressed, her surroundings and how she dealt with other people. Vincente wondered, not for the first time, if the reason she had struggled with their relationship was because she couldn’t neatly package up her feelings for him. When they were together there was no controlling what they felt. It had always been raw, primal…and incredible.

The thought spurred his feet up the front step. His heart was pounding so loud it almost drowned out the sound of his knock on the door. Prepared for disappointment, his nerves—already under intense pressure—were ratcheted up to crisis level when he heard a voice calling out.

“Did you forget something, Detective ?” It wasn’t just any voice. It was Beth’s voice.

He wondered how she would react if she checked who it was through the peephole in the door. Her words indicated she thought Laurie had come back again and he heard a key turn in the lock immediately after she spoke.

The door swung open and the smile on her lips faded. As she gazed at him in shock, Vincente took a moment to drink in her appearance. Her hair was shorter, just reaching her shoulders now instead of the waist-length mass in which he had loved to bury his hands. It was scraped back into an unflattering ponytail. She looked thinner. And tired, definitely tired. Almost to the point of exhaustion. But maybe the reason for that was sitting on her hip.

The baby wore pink sweatpants and a T shirt with butterflies embroidered all over. Not quite a toddler, she was a perfect little girl. Her black hair clustered in a halo of curls around her head and she studied Vincente with eyes that were huge, dark and framed by thick, spiky lashes. The hint of olive to her skin and the full ruby lips were additional confirmation of his first suspicion. It was like looking in a mirror .

Vincente almost took a step back in shock as he gazed at his daughter.

This laugh-out-loud romantic comedy proves that, when enemies become lovers, all bets are off!

Jessa Gibson may be new in the little town of Granite, Texas, but in no time at all her gourmet food truck business is booming. Soon she'll have enough money to open the restaurant of her dreams. But first, she'll have to appease the hot local health inspector, no matter how strange his "violations" sound to her. No pink plastic gloves? Really?

Max Hager isn't exactly who he says he is. Pretending to be a health inspector is a (mostly) innocent mistake. A mistake made way worse by Max's immediate, electrifying attraction to the curvy, sexy, redheaded chef. Throw in a whole lot of lust, and things in Jessa's little kitchen are about to really start heating up. But can Max find a way to come clean with Jessa before his little deception turns into a recipe for disaster?

Sweet, steamy … and fake? *sigh* I’m so conflicted about this book! With the third book in her Perfect Fit series, Alison Bliss brings us Max’s story … a fan favorite from previously in the series. This has been a great series overall … funny, sassy, flirty and oh so sexy … but this book just didn’t hit me the same way as the first two. I adore Max, and I loved Jessa almost from the moment we met her too, but with the major lie hanging over their head, I couldn’t connect with them as a couple like I did Sam and Leah in book one and Valerie and Logan in book two. I wanted to love Max’s book … but unfortunately, it let me down. Don’t get me wrong, I liked it … it has some really down-to-earth characters and life journeys and the sass and laughter is still there … but I didn’t love it like I did the first two. It’s still worth a read, and the ending was an interesting twist that we weren’t expecting for sure … but if this is the first you’re reading in the series, I’d advise you to go grab Size Matters and On The Plus Side to round out your love of the characters as a whole.

New to Granite, Texas, Jessa Gibson’s gourmet food truck business is booming and she’s never been happier! She just knows that this is the town where she’s going to make her drams of opening her own restaurant a reality, so the thriving food truck business is going to get here there quicker than she ever dreamed. The studly new health inspector seems to be coming up with strange violations on her though … is she going to be able to keep her eyes off of his hot body long enough to fix the problems he’s addressing … even if they do seem crazy?

Electrician Max Hager starts off trying to help out a friend by pretending to be the health inspector and pestering Jessa to get her to move her location. His not quite innocent intent snowballs and before he knows it, he’s spending every day stopping by the truck pretending to be the guy … and falling head over heals for the girl in the process! Instead of coming clean, he lets the lie ride out way too long until eventually it comes crashing down around him. Will she care enough about the guy at that point to listen to his reasoning or will she send the no good liar on his way once and for all?

When a marriage of convenience is the only answer…things get inconvenient

Gabe McNeill is done being manipulated. By everyone from his ex-wife who abandoned him and their baby to the grandfather forcing him to remarry. Now the only way Gabe can ensure his son’s inheritance is if Brianne Hanson agrees to be his bride. They’ve always kept things strictly business and this is no different…until she falls into his bed and all bets are off!

Yet another McNeill brother steals our heart! Joanne Rock’s latest in the McNeill Magnates series brings us Gabe’s story. He’s tucked away raising his son and running his Martinique resort until news of the family draws him to New York to get to know his grandfather. It’s a fast paced read with drama, sweetness and passion all wrapped into one! Very easy to like characters and just enough conflict to keep us on the edge of our seats until the happily-ever-after shines through!

Gabe McNeill isn’t the least bit happy to hear about his newly discovered grandfather’s stipulations … be wed for at least a year or be left out of the will! Is it his fault his flaky wife ran off on him and their newborn son just months after marrying? Is he supposed to be crazy enough to want to try his hand at love and marriage again immediately? If he wants his son Jason to get a part of the heritage that is rightfully his, he guesses so!

Landscape designer Brianne Hanson adores her boss Gabe and his adorable son! Truth be told, she used to harbor a huge crush on him … but obviously she wasn’t going to lust after a married man, so once he married she stuck him in best friend territory. When Gabe comes to her with a convoluted plan of a marriage of convenience to secure Jason’s inheritance, she is shocked … but the more she thinks about it, the more it makes sense for both of their situations. Being up close and personal with the attraction they feel for each other isn’t going to be all that convenient … but a real marital bed could be!

His Daughter’s Guardian

Former marine captain Giles Wainwright had seen his share of battles. When the military man turned multimillionaire learned he had a baby girl, he vowed to go to war to keep her. But Mya Lawson had her late sister’s last will and testament on her side and was prepared to fight for custody.

Mya was only following her sister’s last wishes to have Lily raised in their childhood hometown. She’d grant Giles the visitation he was due. Yet as he dropped his arrogant stance and made Lily his priority, Mya’s guarded emotions were swayed. Giles’s offer of marriage to make them a true family was tremendously tempting. But was his proposal genuine or a bid to claim Lily forever?

For the baby’s sake! The latest from Rochelle Alers is an easy, enjoyable read about an adorable baby that everyone wants a chance to love. The characters are likable from the start with a well laid out backstory, but the lack of conflict was a bit unrealistic. I kept waiting for a wrench to fall into their happy-go-lucky life, but other than one little spat, things were fairly calm and steady. Definitely a fun read!

When Marine Captain turned multi-million dollar real estate developer Giles Wainwright finds out he has a daughter out there that he knew nothing about, he steps up and wants her by his side. The only problem is, her mother left instructions in her will that she wants her sister to raise her in their hometown of Wickham Falls, WV. He’s a busy man based out of New York City and traveling constantly to his development projects in the Caribbean … how is this going to work??

Mya Lawson is blindsided when a month after her sisters death, a codicil to her will beckons Giles to a reading to inform him that he’s a father. Sammie refused to tell her who he was and was adamant that she wanted Mya to raise her … so why is she springing a daddy on her out of thin air? Giles claims he wants to do things her way and is there by their side to get to know Lily instantly, but she can’t help but be suspicious. He seems too good to be true!

From a family feud…to a one-night stand ending in heartbreak.

Now will these rivals get a second chance at love?

Rugged oil tycoon Broderick has avoided temptation for years. But an abandoned baby forces him back into his ex-lover’s world. He needs Glenna. For the child, for himself…for untangling the ties that bind their families. For discovering who the baby’s father really is. But will their passion survive the truth?

Can the infamous feud between the Steele’s and the Mikkelson’s actually be mended? Circumstances beyond their control have Broderick and Glenna stepping in to bridge the gap between their siblings as business discussions lead to more when a baby is abandoned in front of them. Whose baby is it? And what will the possibilities bring to these two families? There were a few places that I think could have been built up more to give a more complete love story, but overall this was a fast-paced, fun kick-off to this new series and gave us not only the background of our main characters, but also a good foundation for the siblings stories to come in the future books. I really enjoyed it and look forward to more!

Broderick Steele has lusted after Glenna since back in their college days when they stole a magical weekend away from their life-long family feud. He’s tried his best to steer clear of her temptation as they both went on to become big-wigs in their competitive family businesses in the Alaskan oil industry, but with the shock-wave that has just hit both of their families, close-quarters are unavoidable.

Glenna Mikkelson-Powers has lost a lot in recent years and when the baby of her dreams winds up plopped into her lap, she won’t let anything stand in the way of making sure she’s safe and cared for while her paternity is figured out. With Broderick right by her side, they bond over this adorable tyke and dream of the what-ifs from their past fondness for each other. Can their family feud truly be on it’s way to being over? And does that mean the feelings they have hidden from their minds for all of these years can finally be free to fly?

Neve Angel’s life is all work and no play, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. One of Denver’s top sports reporters, she's fought hard to make it in a male-dominated world, and she won’t back down from a fight with anyone–not even the Hellions’ gruff head coach, Tor Gunnar. Her hostile relationship with the icy Scandinavian is the stuff of local legend.

Tor Gunnar hates dealing with the media; at best, they are a nuisance and at worst, a distraction. And no one distracts him more than the scrappy, sexy reporter who gets him hot under the collar. When he wins a not-so-friendly bet with Neve, he decides it’s high time they either kiss or kill each other, and invites her as a date to an out-of-town wedding.

But what happens when enemies become lovers? Will they be able to smother their sizzling attraction, or is it time to start playing for keeps?

Opposites attract … and heat up the ice! With the latest in her Hellions Angels hockey series, Lia Riley brings us the coach’s story filled with laughter, snark and lots of spice! The characters are really fun to get to know and watch interact with each other and the plot draws you in quickly. There are a few holes in there that could have filled in a little more story, but overall it was a really fun and enjoyable read!

As one of the top sports reporters in Denver, Neve Angel works hard to keep her readers happy and stay one step ahead of the game. She’s all too aware of the fact that she’s a woman in a man’s world when working the hockey beat, so she doesn’t hesitate to get in there and get the job done no matter who she has to sweet talk, or who she has to irritate … namely the coach who she has a hate-hate relationship with!

As the head coach of the Hellions, Tor Gunnar has his fair share of stress without an intrusive reporter constantly being under his nose trying to get him to say something that she can use to further her smear campaign of him. She gets under his skin more than anything else in the world … and yes, as much as he hates to admit it, part of it is fueled by lust! When he snidely wins a little unfriendly bet, he cashes in by coercing her into accompanying him to an out of town wedding … as his date. When enemies become lovers, sparks will definitely fly!

Vanished into thin air! She’s taking daring chances and it comes back to bite her early in the book. If you’ve read any of this series previously, you will recognize the cult they are investigating as well as some of the other task force cops. He never thought he’d see her again!

After being reported missing, presumed dead, globe-hopping photojournalist Mitch Simmons never thought he’d see his estranged wife, Zoe, again. Yet here he is back in their coastal Florida town, where Zoe is mayor. Turns out she isn’t the only one he left behind.

Discovering he has a baby son awakens thrilling new emotions in Mitch. And there are his still-powerful feelings for the high school sweetheart he vowed to love and honor forever. Thankfully, they’ll have the chance to find the love that was always there…

A shocking reunion leads to the fight of their life! A presumed dead resurrection is always a drama-filled subject that we don’t get to read all that often, so the turmoil it brought forth in this latest book in the Business of Weddings series really packed a punch. Mitch was really easy to sympathize with and I found myself pulling for him. Zoe on the other hand was really hard to like. I could sympathize with the picture she portrayed of their marriage prior to his “death”, but she was just too cold for my liking. Sometimes that type of heroine makes you strive for that happily ever after even more though because if he can still want her when she’s so distant, you know their prior love that he’s hoping to get back had to be a beautiful thing. Overall, an emotional read with relatable characters and a strong storyline!

Mayor Zoe Simmons has only recently started to move forward in her life after losing her husband a couple of years ago. They were high school sweethearts who wed young and thought they’d be together forever, but even before he went missing on an assignment and was presumed dead, their marriage was on the verge of being over. She was left with more of him than she would have ever believed possible, and that gave her the will to keep on existing even through her darkest grief.

Photojournalist Mitch Simmons knows his return from the dead is going to be a shock to his wife, so he arranges for his best friend to ease the transition when he faces her for the first time. He still has a lot of recovery to go through and isn’t anywhere near the man she was in the midst of walking away from before his accident happened. He hopes that maybe the thrill of him actually being alive will convince her to give their love another shot … and that’s even before he hears that they have a son he never even knew was on the way!

In Nashville the music is louder, the dreams are bigger, and love can bring a cowboy to his knees.

Ethan Walker is Nashville royalty. Born to the King and Queen of Country Music, he's spent his life trying to escape the spotlight of his parents' fame, even walking away from his own promising singing career. He's the kind of cowboy who prefers flannel to flashbulbs, hay fields to hit records, and the solitude of his horse farm to the nightlife along Music Row. The last thing he wants is attention, especially when it comes from country's latest star...

Chelsea Harris's meteoric rise up the charts and string of celebrity boyfriends mean that wherever she goes, the paparazzi follow. A duet with Nashville's favorite son is exactly what her new charity album needs, but when she approaches Ethan, he turns her down flat. To win the camera-shy cowboy over, Chelsea will have to approach him on his terms. Trouble is, the more time she spends on his farm, the more Ethan wants to keep her there.

Opposites attract in the heart of Nashville! With the second book in the Nashville Dreams series, we get Ethan’s story. We met him in the first book and got a hint into his past as the son of music legends, and with this book we get details of how his childhood went down and why he chooses to turn away from it all and shun the spotlight on a daily basis. The characters are fun and the plot is interesting. Looking forward to more in the series!

Rising star Chelsea Harris is enjoying living the life as a country music performer in Nashville. The last few years have been extremely busy for her, so she’s looking forward to a little time off of the road as she works on recording an album of duets for a charity project that is near and dear to her heart. She has one dream talent that she knows she just has to get to agree to do a song with her on the record … it will make it a hit and raise tons of money for sure! … only problem is, he’s flat out saying no way.

Cowboy Ethan Walker has no interest in stepping into the limelight with Chelsea. He’s lived his whole life trying to live down the stigma of being the only child of the King & Queen of Country Music. His youth was spent in a music career with a voice full of potential that he gladly walked away from once he was old enough to have his say. This sexy tycoon has everything…

So why is he searching for a baby?

To Chief Deputy Suzy Simmons, James Callahan is the dark-haired, sexy-as-hell millionaire with abs from her past. But despite his megacharm and killer body, Suzy deeply distrusts him when he draws her into his investigation of a criminal’s murder. The courageous beauty is determined to get answers, not come-ons. As they race against time, James and Suzy face unseen danger with their case—and hearts—heating up.

One shocking discovery after another! Adversaries find themselves joining forces as they embark on the mystery that is turning up bodies left and right. The intrigue from the beginning catches our attention and though the plot is entrenched with a few undeveloped holes in the story, it is strong enough to keep us reading to find out the answers they’ve been looking for.

Chief Deputy Suzanne Simmons doesn’t realize what she’s walking into while out investigating one day. Her shocking findings lead to more questions than answers and bring danger to her side. While she appreciates the rescue she receives, she doesn’t trust the man it comes from even a little bit.

Businessman James Callahan knows Suzy doesn’t care for him, but when she happens to be in the right place at the right time to give him some input into the mystery surrounding him, he hopes she’ll realize he’s not the bad guy here. When their sleuthing turns up the fact that there’s an innocent baby out there somewhere, they join forces to get to the bottom of what’s going on and who’s behind it … but danger seems to always be just around the next corner, and they are going to have to stay on their toes to make it through this investigation!
